The British Columbia government Of Canada created another tax on Businesses people are calling it a ‘Netflix tax’ – February 20, 2020
If the government wasn’t so wasteful with the taxes it already receives, chances are we’d have viable market-driven clean energy solutions already in existence. But, most people in the world still can’t comprehend that the government is the problem.
In China as an example, it’s not the people who are bad, it’s the Chinese Communist Party, In Cuba and Venezuela, it’s not the people who are bad it’s their totalitarian governments, in many parts of Africa, it’s not the people who are bad, it’s the dictators who run the country, in Canada, there really is no excuse for there to be any poverty or any problems with any provincial government being solvent in this nation. There really is no excuse for it.
In Canada, similar to Mexico we border with a country that would love to sell us innovative products for cheap, but similar to Mexico Canadians are bombarded with Tariffs and stupid regulations, which drive up costs. I live in Ontario, imagine this for a moment, when I buy a product for $1, I’m charged $0.13 to pay the government. So what this means, just so I can put this is a better perspective, when I make a purchase for $10,000 I have to pay the government $1300 just to but something at the store. So instead of paying $10,000, I end up paying $11,300.
Now, to compound this problem, I’m also charged a tax to be employed, So I’m also charged an income tax, I’m also charged a tariff tax to purchase items, that in many instances can’t even be manufactured in Canada, because the government using regulations like the minimum wage and others have priced certain jobs out of existence, then to add to this craziness, there are people on Welfare or people ho receive entitlements that don’t pay any taxes and these people get their welfare checks from Public Sector workers. None of this makes any sense under any circumstance.
Climate Change Taxes – Here’s a list of all the taxes people pay on a litre of gas in B.C.:
- Provincial motor fuel tax (Metro Vancouver) — 1.75 cents
- Provincial motor fuel tax (everywhere else in B.C.) — 7.75 cents.
- B.C.’s carbon tax — 8.89 cents.
- The B.C. Transportation Finance Authority tax — 6.75 cents.
- TransLink tax (If you live in Metro Vancouver) — 17 cents, increasing to 18.5 cents on July 1.
- Transit tax (If you live in Victoria) — 5.5 cents.
- Federal excise tax — 10 cents.
- Finally, pay the five per cent Goods and Services Tax on top of the total price.
So in easy to understand terms as outlined in the article below, the B.C government wants to Netflix and other digital companies to collect taxes on its behalf. Now, the population of B.C is only about 5.1 million people, will be interesting to see how the tech-sector responds to being tax collectors and sending the B.C government a check. Now, what I assume Netflix would do is simply add the tax to the B.C users. Regulations tend to lead to stagnant private sector growth because that added tax, especially on annual basis with stagnant wage growth, will equate t people spending less on other things.
As an example in Ontario, I used to eat at Wendy’s once per week until the government raised the minimum wage and Wendy’s raised their prices, now I don’t eat at Wendy’s at all. I currently have Netflix, but if the government made Netflix or any other streaming service more expensive I might do without. Why should Canada care? Well, because this ill make the brain drain to the United States even worse most Canadian celebrities live and pay taxes in the United States, although America can be more expensive, you have more options in America, therefore if you’re an affluent person, Canada becomes a secondary option.
When the government creates more taxes or adds regulations, what happens is certain businesses will look at the Canadian market and won’t bother with the headache. If you’re wondering why Canada lags far behind in terms of consumer options, it’s dues in large part to the laws like the one being passed by the B.C government. Understand that when there’s few options, there will be fewer derivatives of those options, so jobs or careers that could exist, won’t!
Interesting times ahead!
