Paleolithic Diet Review
The Paleolithic Diet, which is also known as the “Stone Age Diet”, “Cave Man Diet”, and “Hunter-Gatherer Diet”, is based from the idea that the people living during the Paleolithic or Stone Age era could have a special kind of diet that enables them to live with perfect eyesight, straight teeth, and without lifestyle diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and many more.
This diet is said to cover all the essential dietary components like vitamins, fats, carbohydrates, and antioxidants and phytosterols. This is also said to be the only diet to be coded in our genes.
More about the Paleolithic Diet
The Paleolithic Diet promotes consumption of meat, chicken, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries, and organ meats. While it encourages one to make those foods part of one’s daily diet, it inhibits the consumption of the following: grains, beans, potatoes, dairy products, sugar, and salt. These foods, which take a large portion on one’s modern diet, are said to contain large amount of toxins even after being cooked.
Final thoughts on the Paleolithic Diet
The Paleolithic Diet lacks the necessary scientific evidence to backed its claims. Also, many of the prohibited foods in this type of diet are necessary for essential body functions. Take for example the dairy products which are a good source of calcium and grains and beans which are great examples of complex carbohydrates.
