xBids.com Scam
XBids.com is one of many Penny Auction websites online. This things are popping up all over the place. One thing i recommend doing before handing over credit card information to anyone is make sure you read the terms and conditions. This is also know as the fine print. I know its time consuming but it educates you in what you are getting yourself into. with xbids this information can be found by going to http://www.xbids.com/support/terms-of-service.html
XBids.com Non Refundable Credits
There is one area i want to focus on in this post and that is non refundable credits please read the section below at the time i am writing this is October 13 2010 it may have changed depending on when you read this post
=======
BIDS
Bidding rights or bids (“Bids”) must be purchased before you engage in online bidding. Prices for Bids may change at xBids’s discretion at any time. Bids are non-transferable and valid for 6 months after they have been credited to your account, unless stated to be valid for less than that period of time. Upon expiration, Bids become void and can no longer be used. Once a Bid is placed in an auction, it is deducted from your Bid account and cannot be refunded.
================================================
Non refundable credits. I’ve written about this before. Penny auction websites in the eyes of many is considered to be borderline gambling. Using a penny auction website is like shopping at a non refundable store. The difference however is that you have a chance to win your desired item at rock bottom prices.
Penny Auctions are very Time Consuming
There’s also another catch Penny Auctions are very time consuming. There are people that literally spend hours and even days on these websites. Most of the ties these people spend way more money on the price of their desired item.
Of course most people won’t admit this, another common trait is people will start purchasing things they didn’t initially want like more credits to so they can aggressively go after the product they did want. this goes into the time consuming aspect of things and even then they still might not win remember in any auction there can only be one winner.
Auction websites appear to be here to stay I just wonder how long it will take for people to truly understand how these things work. All i will say is the bigger the Penny Auction site gets the harder it is for people to win. Also the bigger the penny auction site gets the richer the penny auction website owners get. the consumer gets screwed on so many levels.
Wait Wait there’s some Good News…
But hey here’s the good news because you may have wasted hours on our Penny Auction website we will allow you to use your NON Refundable credits to purchase the item you wanted at the retail price set by us. If you want to sign up for XBids don’t let e stop you just don’t say I didn’t warn you
I am really upset, this is my third attempt to send a Comment to this site. Every time I try to enter the
CAPTCHA Code this whole message deletes.
I too was a victim of this Scam. I had the same experience when I “gave” them my $75.00 supposedly
for a one time charge to “join” as a Member. I thought one could just bid as on Ebay. I finally realized
something was wrong when every time the clock got to the last minute, it kept resetting. At first, I
thought I was doing something wrong but, eventually I realized I was suckered into something very
questionable. When I sent their “Customer Service” Link an e-mail asking how many Bids I had used,
I rec’d. a Reply that they got my e-mail and they would get back to me. They never did!
Today, when I too tried to call the tel. number on my Credit card bill for them – it was the same
number as Gmalik got – I too got the recording that said, I must e-mail their “Customer Service”
site.
It’s early a.m. now. When I tried calling my Credit Card company I was told I have to call the Fraud
Dept. during the day. Thanks for all of the suggestions for help. If my Credit Card Co. doesn’t
delete the charge, I will send a letter and all of your comments to the CA. State’s Atty. Ofc.
At least, I am consoled knowing I wasn’t the only one who got scammed.
WOW!!! Check out this channel 7 report….http://www.newschan7.com/us-news/a/index.php?t202id=1113&c1=adsonar&c2=Wsbtv.com_Rest_of_Site&t202kw=&topicID=157019&topicName=Wsbtv.com+Rest+of+Site
This chick really does flower it up…. she makes it seem like it’s ABC, 123. She even says she made a few bids and failed but leaves out the fact that those failed attempts, KEEP YOUR MONEY! I almost fail for it until I seen all of your posts! Thanks Much! It’s horrible that one of the places most would relay on, is doing this.
Thanks Again 🙂
WOW, I’m sure glad I read all of these posts, otherwise I would of become a victim too. I knew something wasn’t right when I checked out this xbid and another similiar site and the expired time kept reseting. And I didn’t like the fact that you had to purchase bids prior to participating, sure sign of something wrong, i.e., a scam. It’s a shame that in today’s society, very few businesses are legit anymore.
I’m usually no idiot when it comes to using my credit card online but, I really got hustled (scammed) by the XBid.com company (Penny Auctions). I paid my $75 and started bidding like everyone else and low & behold the 140 free bids were like the movie (GONE IN 60 seconds). Yeah, that’s right, gone before I even knew it. The time kept restarting once someone placed a new bid. I was flabbergasted, then frustrated, then highly pissed off that I lost $75 for nothing.
It should be against the law for companies to scam the public in these economic times. However, I realize that I should have been more vigilant in find out more about this Penny auction before I invested my time and money. I assumed the (Channel 7 News report) was factual information and could be trusted. The reporter was very convincing. Beware People! It’s a scam!
Okay, I’ve read the diatribes against the penny stocks like “xbids”. What were we thinking, that the old sayings ” you don’t get something for nothing” “A sucker is born every minute” “If it looks to good to be true, it almost surly is”, I’ll stop there, I get my point. Yes I played the fool, not fully unaware of the risk. I did not read the fine print, did not do an initial practice “beginners bid” NO,I read a few testimonials and started bidding like a Crack Head! Ben around a lot of auctions aware of the physiological weakness we have to that sales technique. Once I studied the system and did some strategising, verifying the technique dramatically improved my odds, then I determined how to proceed. 1. Read the fine print! 2. Read about others who have learned to beat the odds technique. i.e. When to bid: time of year, month, day, in the auction. Point to start your bidding. NEVER Bid when you are not totally committed to winning. BUT do not waist you money, let the other poor sap do that! Never auto bid, that letting the fox guard the hen house! Never go to a gun fight with a pocket knife. PLAN ahead, Plan on winning enough things to justify buying a lot of bids. Buy the most expensive thins first on down your list. The Bids expire, you lose interest, you get in to soon, you auto bid, you get out after letting them punk you. Before getting in on a bid, even at the right time, DO THE MATH, can you count bidders, bids, the intensity of the bidders. What did you think this was some type of benevolence organization, that we are entitled to win. Like I said I was a dummy a sucker and fell for my own green eyed monster…Greed!
Lastly, Don’t play unless you can verify the auction is legitimate! A third party has to be able to say that the records are strait! Otherwise there is no auction but a scam. I cannot verify any of these are truly above board and independently certified, so until I can, I’m offline on this type penny auction.
I, too have been burned by this website. Overeager to begin “winning” great products cheaply, I went straight in without trying the free bidding opportunity. Otherwise, I would have learned what a scam this website is before I shelled out $75. The latest scam they run is that if you bid on anything worth over $1000, the next time you bid on ANYTHING with a “value” of over $1000, you can’t bid and instead, you’ll receive an “error” notice reading, “Maximum of 1 win of any product valued at $1000 or more in a 28 day period. Error while placing bid.” Each time you try to place a bid on that item “valued” at over $1000, you’ll get this same “error” message, which is really just a part of the website’s programming designed to separate a fool from his money. What’s worse, any other item in that category (typically an electronics item like a wide screen LCD TV) then elicits the same “error” message. What a beauty of a scam! When you try to complain to the “Support Line” you get another “error” message telling you that the website is having problems with the customer support line. This is particularly egregious at this time of year, when some people who have a limited amount of funds for Christmas, lose a big chunk of it to a rip-off like this. Don’t like it? Just try getting the remainder of your unspent bids refunded. Uh-uh, ain’t gonna happen. Too bad, so sad, we’ve taken your money and caveat emptor.
when you look at XBIDS site and see bidding going on it is clearly shown on the auction site that the time left for bidding on a certain item is say one hour and thirty minutes. How ever during the last 15 seconds their computer program takes over and will keep on restting the clock by 15 seconds again and again. This clearly is a misleading and fraudulent advertisement by XBIDS. No legitimate auction site like EBAY or BIDZ.COM does that.
If you want to get in touch with XBIDS for some reason you look at your monthly credit card statement you see a toll free number to get in touch with them. However when you call that number they have supplied to the credit card company you find out that the telephone number is a fake computer generated answering service telling you that you can not get in touch with them on that number which they have clearly supplied to the credit card company for that purpose. This again is a misleading and fraudulent practice by XBIDS.
When BBB investigated XBIDS because of too many consumer complaints they found out that XBIDS does not have physical business address and the address they advertise in San Francisco is only a virtual office and there are no employees at that site.
If all this is not a scam and fraud being committed by XBIDS against non suspecting public then I am not sure what the definition of fraud is. This is a ponzie scheme ripping off gullable public.
Any one who paid by credit card should dispute these charges with their credit card conmpany with the above informaation and the credit card company will take money back from XBIDS account and credit back your account. I did that with my CC company and got my money back
smeans
Just because you filled up the credit card information and paid $75 does not change the fact that XBIDS committed fraud against you. They show in Capital red letters that the time for bidding for a certain item will expire in so many minutes and seconds and if they extend that time again and again it will become a misleading advertisement and hence a fraud againt the customer.
If they are giving a telephone number on your monthly credit card statement
to get in touch with them in case you have any concern about your crdit card transection but the telephone number turns out to be a fake number to fool the customer and crdit card company then again it is a false and misleading adverisement and hence a fraud against the public.
If they took $75 from you with misleading advertisement then you can definetely dispute that charge with your credit card company and your credit card company will take that money out of XBIDS account and recredit your account. I have done that as you can see from my previous email. These scam sites are operating because they are counting on most of the people to just give up after being angery for a while. I urge you to get in touch with your credit card company and dispute this fraudulent charge by XBIDS. I assure you that XBIDS will not be able to prove to your credit card company that it was a legal transection between you and XBIDS.Look at Ebay or BIDZ.COM to see how legal auction sites are operating.
just saw a message on another site that FCC is investigating XBIDS. If anybody can find out more about it please post it here
I started out with $75.00 myself. I was bidding on a 47″ hdtv so I purchased more bids. I stopped bidding after spending $700.00 on bids. When the aution was done,I realised I was short on bids. I had the choice of losing 700.00 or purchase the item for another 800+ dollars. I did that on 12/10/10 at about 9pm. Today is the 22nd and havn’t received the item yet. I’ll give it 15 days total. If I don’t receive the item by then, I will contact my bank to stop and return all charges from the site. If I don’t get my $$$ back, I’ll spend thousands more suing the xbids. It will be my new years resolution.
You can not sue a pure internet scam with only a virtual office without employees. They only have a fake telephone number to mislead CC companies and banks to tranfer money from you to their account via internet transfer.
The sooner you dispute your charges with your bank the better. The scam artists are going to transfer the millions they have made out of USA and disappear. I have just read on another site that FCC is investigating XBIDS for fraudulent business practice.
I want everyone to know that I did NOT get scammed. I read the information, put in my CC number, bought the right to bid and then WON a 55″ Samsung 650 LED TV for less than $24.00! Yes, I had to buy bids, yes I had to pay for the item I won ($23.04), yes I got my item within 3 weeks; No I was not scammed.
If you can read, if you can understand what you have read, if you can enjoy competitive bidding, then there is NOTHING about a scam at XBIDS.
Just so everyone knows: I am a regular person, who goes to Church, who’s job was outsourced back to India this past May 2010 because of a jerk manager. XBIDS allowed me to actually have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS that NO ONE else has even attempted to provide.
Their business model is one where the bidder has to be able to STRATEGICALLY determine when it is time to place a bid. They have sign up rules just like every other on-line business. Does anyone complain that Amazon Video on demand ONLY allows one to download ONE purchased video and it can ONLY play on a AMAZON licensed device? It is their company, their rules. If it was your company, YOU would determine the rules!
If you follow the published rules from XBIDS, you too could WIN something VERY nice for a fraction of retail costs. I did and I WON. You people who are saying this is a SCAM are doing a disservice because you cannot follow the RULES that are clearly published. How is your driving record?
They suck big time!! Etc. don’t wasteyour time email me
I can not verify the truthfulness of your message above.
However I can verify that XBIDS gives a fake telephone number which shows up on monthly credit card statement. It is a computer generated answering service that you can not get in touch with them on that number It is only to mislead the CC company and the credit card holder.
It can only be done by a misleading and fraudulent business.
As soon as one goes to the auction site of XBIDS you see time to bid in hours, minutes and to the last second flashing in red and capital letters.
Then keep on resetting the time again and again during the last 15 seconds is clealy misleading and fraudulent business practice.
Their saying that it is like “going once, going twice, gone” on other public auction site is like comparing apples and oranges. Other live public auction companies who finish their auction by saying ” going once, going twice, gone” do not have a time clock in the back ground showing you in minutes and seconds when the bidding will stop before the auction starts.
The last seconds of bidding on XBIDS is equavalent to ” going once, going twice, gone” You can not have it both ways to mislead the customer. It is a misleading and fraudulent business by XBIDS.
When BBB investigated XBIDS they found out that the address XBIDS publishes as their official business address is only a virtual site and there are no employees. Does Amazon.com or EBAY does that. This is also misleading and fraudulent scam against unsuspecting public.
Neither I nor my credit card company has been able to get in touch with them on the telephone number they have supplied and shows up on the monthly CC statement is also a misleading and fraudulent business practice.
I disputed my $75 charges a month ago with the above information and they were reversed by my credit card company. I was told that as even the investigative department of my CC company could not get in touch with them on the telephone they do not see how XBIDS will be able to bill my CC company again and succede.
Finalyy look at thousands of complaints from customers on the internet complaint sites and think again what you are posting.
The above message is in response to the message posted by dan cherkas. I hope he realises that 99% of messages and complaints about XBIDS are in agreement with me.
I was recently shown this site xbids from my friend Bill. It seems like a wonderful idea penny bid aucton.Bill told me he bid and won a camera for six dollars and a electric shaver for two cents. He used a total of five bids and recieved the camera and told me you have to watch the aucton and bid at the end.Anyways all i want to say is Bill likes to gamble alot and seems to always win.I personal don’t have goodluck and if i joined and bid on a aucton i will probably wouldn’t win like most people and be upset.I think xbids is like gambeling and your odds are in there favor. Anyways im glad i read your coments and im not going to gamble and bid on xbids.
Thanks
Fred
I just saw a news article that an attorney in San Francisco is sueing these spam sites.
Please send him an email about XBIDS sacm site and hopefully he will start a class action law suit against XBIDS.
His email address is.
[email protected]
PEOPLE, THE TIME KEEPS RESETTING BECAUSE “OTHER” PEOPLE ARE BIDDING AGAINST YOU,DUH!! WHEN THE CLOCK GOES DOWN TO 2 SECONDS AND YOU THINK YOURE ABOUT TO WIN, IT RESETS BECAUSE OTHERS ARE ALSO BIDDING!! LOOK AT THE NAMES OF OTHER PEOPLE WHEN YOU KEEP LOSING BIDS! NO SCAM!
BEWARE OF THE PENNY-BID SCAM OPERATION CALLED X-BIDS.THESE LOW DOWN CROOKS TOOK ME FOR $75.00, AND I NEVER USED THERE SERVICES.RIGHT AFTER I SIGNED UP FOR THERE MEMBERSHIP I DIDNT HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF JUST HOW BAD THESE CROOKS ARE. I HAVE MADE 35 EMAILS TO THEM, DEMANDING MY MONEY BACK,AND EACH TIME THEY REPLIED, THEY TOLD ME THERE SUPPORT WOULD HAVE TO GET BACK WITH ME.WELL AFTER A FEW MORE OF MY DEMANDS FOR A REFUND, THER FINALLY WROTE ME, AND TOLD ME MY REFUND WAS APPROVED, BUT BECAUSE OF THERE SO-CALLED CANCELLATION POLICY, I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT IN THERE QUE-LINE UP FOR A PHONE FROM CUSTOMER SUPPORT.WELL, HERE WE ARE 2 MONTHS LATER, IM STILL WAITING FOR THAT PHONE CALL,BUT GUESS WHAT, BINGO, I GET AN EMAIL FROM SOME JERK-OFF NAMED KEN, SOME SUPERVISOR, WHO TOLD ME I WAS NOT GOING TO GET A REFUND, BECAUSE THEY CHANGE THERE RULES,PERTAINING TO REFUNDS, WHAT A CROOCKOK ????. IM SUING THEM THRU OUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE.
danny
what are you talking about? Give me one reason why they advertise in capital block red letters that the time to bid for an item will expire in so many hours and minutes and exact seconds.
They must not advertise the time limit in upto the last second if they are not going to honor it. Take a minute and look at BIDZ.COM and EBAY auction sites. They are both on Nasdaq stock exchange.
Can not have it both ways. Either do not show time to expire and let people bid till XBIDS thinks a reasonable price has reached or the last person who bids higher than the one before the advertised time expires gets the item. Again look at EBAY or BIDZ.COM.
When you see last 10 seconds left to bid if they interfere with that then they are comitting fraud against bidders.
michael perkinns.
If you paid by credit card then dispute your $75 charge and your credit card company will reverse that charge. I did that and my CC company took money out of XBIDS account and creditted my account. It was 40 days ago.
Also send an email to [email protected] I hope he will take up these scam artists head on.
These people need an attorney to sue them and make it a class action law suit.
Danny is a shill and works for the scam site.
You need to dispute your charges within 60 days with your credit card company. This XBIDS scam site was delaying your dispute so that after 60 days your CC company will tell you that the time limit has expired.
again to all of you who have read all these comments about xbids..it is not a scam you morons!!!!its only a scam because you did not read the fine print before signing up.I played the site and won 10 items which is max in a 28 day period.Took 2 weeks before i started to recieve all the items i won which i recieved so quit your fricken crying .I will continue to bid because i made a killing on what i won.
NO WONDER THE SITE IS DOWN
Fishhunk’
I can not verify the truthfulness of your staement. But i can verify the investigation about XBIDS by BBB.
I can read the 99% of people on these complaint sites about this scam. In your eyes they are all morons.
I can verify my credit card company trying to get in touch with them by the telephone number supplied by XBIDS without success and told me so and recreditted my account.( It was a month ago)
Even 10% of customers of Bernie Maddoff will be happy to write good things about him. But he is serving 150 years in jail.
It is like a big red arrow sign telling me to turn right and then I get robbed by the person who put the big red arrow sign, but when I go to the police the robber made an excuse that I was a MORON because I did not read the fine print on the other side of the road before turning right to be robbed.
Ok I understand how everyone feels and I too fell into joining, buying bids, and bidding on items. What i’d like to know is if anyone has actually recevied ANYTHING that they WON or if you chose to purchase for the differnce in what you bid and the listed cost???
I “won” a small photo key chain and bid on two Kindle E readers but ended up buying them and paying the differnce in what the listed price was and what I had bid BUT I have yet to recevie ANY of the 3 items. As I am sure everyone is aware the site has been “undergoing planned system maintenance” for days now…
It’s been awhile and I cant reach anyone at XBids and am still wondering IF I will receieve any of the items in the mail!????? The two Kindles were goign to be Christmas Gifts; one for my mother and one for my daughter… 🙁
I trully hope this wasn’t a TOTAL SCAM….
I also “won” and auction on November 18, was told on december 5 it had shipped and big surprise—-nothing!!! Of course this is a scam. I’m glad I’m only out about $80 and will take that as a relatively cheap lesson!! No doubt these crooks will end up getting away with it but what goes around comes around, and somehow they will end up paying for what they’ve done.
Galleygirl
If you paid by credit card dispute your charges with your credit card company and they will reverse the charges. It is your moral duty to fight these crooks.
Their extending the last few seconds again and again is false and misleading advertisement. Their statement that it is to give bidder oppertunity to bid and is like “going once, going twice and gone’ is also a misleading and fraudulent practice. It is not done on legitimate auction sites like EBAY or BIDZ.COM. Both of which are on Nasdaq stock exchange. The public auctions which end with ” going once, going twice, gone” do not advertise time when the bidding will end when they pick up an item for auction. XBIDS bidding start up to 20 hours before the bidding time will end. Is that not enough time to give every body a chance to bid? The last 10 seconds are equivalent to “going once, going twice, gone” just like on EBAY or BIDZ.com.
XBIDS keep on extending time to suck in as many gullable bidders as they can during the last few seconds again and again and It is almost certain that it is their own computer programm which starts bidding during the last few seconds. Especially when a bidder like you thinks she is only bidding one cent higher than the last bidder actually is spending 60 cents on each bid and when you think you have only spent $1.25 cents your entire $75 has gone.
Their toll free number which shows up on your monthly credit card statement in case you or your credit card company wants to get in touch with them is also a computer generated fake number and neither I nor the investigative department of my credit card company has been able to contact any one on that number.
I can not find out who is the owner of this company is. XBIDS is registered by proxy to hide the identity of some dishonest scam artists.
See the BBB report on XBIDS and they have given XBIDS a F rating.
The investigative department of BBB has determined that XBIDS has only a virtual business address and there are no employees at that address. On November 11 after XBIDS charged my account for $ 75 with false and misleading advertisement. The investigative department of my credit card company put me on hold and called Xbids toll free number and came back and told me that if when even the credit card company can not get an answer on that number then XBIDS must be a scam internet site. She cancelled the charge by XBIDS and credited back my account.
It is already 48 days and with the above reasoning I supplied to my credit card company I do not see how XBIDS can get that $75.
It is not the $ 80 you lost to XBIDS. It should be your moral duty to fight back these scam artits.
egigik’
I hope you disputed your $ 700 with your credit card company and got your charges reversed.
Did you realise that even if the bidding closed at $700 that was 70,000 bids at 60 cents each. Xbids pocketed $ 42000 ( fourty two thousands) dollars just on that auction alone. Only thing they did if they are not too greedy was to purchase the item from the manufacturer and tell them to ship it to the last bidder. In this ponzie scheme the only winner who pockets thousands of dollars every time is the owner of this site.
Remember they have no physical business address and no goods to deliver. For a walmart gift card they just order the gift card from walmart to ship it directly to the “successful” bidder. It is better than any other illegal ponzie scheme because in this ponzie scheme the owner of XBIDS will always be pocketing money. (sometimes thousands of dollars as in the example above.)
I am certain in the last 15 seconds of the auction their own computer programm takes over and keeps on resetting the time again and again. But still you have to give credit to this ponzie scam owner for this brilliant scam.
How else you can make $ 42000 for one telephone call to a store to ship a product directly to one of the last bidder. (sucker)
It is two months since my credit card company reversed $75 back to my account and They have not heard any thing again from xbids yet.
Please dispute your $700 with your bank or CC company and get your $700 creditted back to you. Send them a copy of this message. I have also reported them to Attorney General of California and you should do it too.
GM – I JUST NOW REALIZED THAT I WAS SCAMMED AS WELL. I WISH I HAD SEEN YOUR POSTS BEFORE I JOINED THIS HORRIBLE WEBSITE. IT CLEARLY STATES ON THE HOME PAGE THAT IT’S FREE!! AS SOON AS I SIGNED IN, I WAS CHARGED THE $75 FEE! I’M SO ANGRY!! I ALREADY SENT SEVERAL EMAILS TO XBIDS AS WELL AS CONTACTED MY CC COMPANY. MY CC COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT I CANNOT STOP THE PENDING TRANSACTION. I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW TO DISPUTE THE CHARGE. XBIDS ALSO DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE YOUR CC INFORMATION SO THAT THEY CAN GO BACK IN AND TRY TO CHARGE YOU AGAIN. AS SOON AS I CALL MY CC COMPANY TOMORROW TO DISPUTE THE CHARGE, I AM CLOSING MY ACCOUNT. IF THEY TRY TO CHARGE MY CARD AGAIN AFTER MY XBIDS ACCOUNT IS CLOSED, I WILL CALL MY CC COMPANY AND REPORT FRAUDULANT ACTIVITY ON MY CARD AND ASK TO BE ISSUED ANOTHER CC NUMBER. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDED IN YOUR COMMENTS. I HATE THAT I FELL FOR THIS SCAM! I’M NOT USUALLY THIS GULLIBLE!
KT-Once you find out the charges from xbids have gone through in a day or two, you need to call your CC company and dispute that charge.
The credit card company will take that money out of xbids account and credit your account. But xbids has 45 days to dispute this transection and your CC company will get in touch with you if they see xbids trying to rebill you.
You need to print some of the complaints and BBB report on xbids and send it to your CC company as a proof of this scam site charging you by misleading advertisement.
All the CC companies have received hundreds of complaints about xbids and xbids also knows by now that their disputing the charge again will not work. They are already making millions on this scam and have no time to try to fight with you and your credit card company. It is 60 days when I disputed my charges and my CC company never heard any thing from xbids.
Cancelling your credit card does not make any difference because a genuine business still has the right to charge your new account. If you are really angery then file a report with the AG of California as well as I did.
I “won” an iPad on December 16th. On December 24th I e-mailed and was told they were backed up and just then sending December 5 winnings. January 7th e-mailed them. They said it would ship in 7-12 days :E 34-44 days after I paid. They then said I would receive it 5-10 days after that.
Calling credit card company and canceling everything.
Wow! Thank goodness I ixquick’ed xbids before paying my $75!!! All I can say is: 1) the good comments were planted by xbids scammers, or 2) were the very few who got a deal so that xbids can claim that it works! I will not buy anything online before snoping it out or ixquicking it! Thanks to everyone for saving me $75 and a lot of headache! Health, happiness, and prosperity in 2011 to all the honest out there!
I was a victim of xbid.com last night, all I wanted to do was see how it worked. They were offering 20 free bids to join , so I though I could try it and find out how it worked with the free bids that they gave me
Boy was I wrong as soon as I clicked to sign up they took 75.00 out of my account. I asked them very nice if I could have a refund because I did not know that they were going to take my 75.00 out It did not say anything about that. They told me that I had bought bids with that money
When I was reading there rules it said that un spent bids were refundable, seeing that I had not used any bids at all. so I emailed them again and got no replay after waiting all night Today I found a place to cancel my account. And did so. They emailed me within 5 min when you cancel you for fit all bids and lost your refund ( I am going to dispute this 75.00 rip off with my Credit card company)
BEWARE!!!!!!!!
what a scam, love your $ but NEVER deliver. talking to customer service is a joke. today is 1/12/11 i orderer EARLY dec. still !!
All you do with these sites is stuff money into someones pocket. Simple math will tell how much money these scam artists are making. Let’s say the bids are 50 cents apiece. Take an Apple laptop that sold for $164.54. That is 16,454 bids at 50 cents each. These guys are selling these laptops for $8,272.00 each……..what a deal (for them).
Folks,
you need to dispute your charges by xbids with your CC company. Your CC company will ask you to call customer service of xbids first on the toll free telephone number xbids has supplied on your monthly CC statement. Tell your CC company that number is a fake number and you can not get in touch with xbids on that number. On this basis alone your charge will be reversed and put in a disputed account.Your CC company will not let xbids take that money again when every body including your CC company knows that.
1. XBIDS Gives a fake telephone number to mislead you and your CC company.
2. Xbids does not have any physical address for business and only a virtual site without any employees.Again to mislead the public.
3. The web site is registered by Proxy to hide the identity of the owner of this scam site.
4. No body can find out the name of the owner of this business or where the head quarter of this business is. The one in San Francisco is a phanthom address.
5. When you look at the active auctions going on you see in flashing red letters the time in hours, minutes and upto the last second when the auction will close. Bidding on most of the items start almost 20 hours and they give an excuse that they have to keep on extending time during the last few seconds again and again to give time for the last bidders. What a joke. Is 20 hours not enough time to bid. This is just to suck in more and more bidders during the last few seconds who think they are only bidding one cent higher than the last bidder but xbids is actually taking 60 cents out of their account and when the bidder thinks he has only spent $1.25 out of his $75 package a message shows up that he needs to put up another $75 if he wants to keep on bidding. It is almost certain that the last few seconds are manipulated by xbid’s own computer generated bids to keep on extending time again and again. Their excuse that it is being done on other penny auctions as well is like Nigerian scam artists telling that other scam artists are doing the same. Two wrongs do not make it right.
I disputed my chrges with my CC company with the above explaination and they were reversed straight away. this was on 11th. of november.
I also wrote to The AG of California and I quote the last line from Kamala D. Harris the AG of California. ” Please be advised that your information will be retained in our consumer files and is of importance in helping this office take appropriate action to protect consumers”
My suggestion is not only to dispute your charges with your CC company, but also report it to the AG office like I did. Hope fully the AG will take some action against these scam auction site.( If she can find the owner of this XBIDS scam site)
I won twice in their auctions 1 in December 3rd (Canon T2i camera) and another in December 5th (17″ Macbook Pro). I got the camera on December 22nd but I have not receive the laptop yet…It’s January 13th already. Originally, they promised that they will ship it in 14 days. Since then, I have been emailing then twice a week and their response is “there is delays in our shipping department. Please be assured that your item is going to be shipped this week.” I am getting tired of waiting for this and getting close to dispute all the xbids charges from my credit card.
So, ‘Dan Cherkas’ is a pseudonym, that guy works for xbids, they’ve been scouring forums like this and posting fake testimonials, just another set of lies… The best thing anyone can do is raise awareness about these sites and make sure your friends and relatives know not to get involved.
I was mislead by this scam site because it looked like Bidz.com and Ebay with clear flashing time to close in hours ,monutes and up to the last second. But as soon as I started bidding the $75 were gone in few minutes and message showed up that I need to spend another $75 if I want to keep on bidding. I read clearly on xbids main page that the last bidder before the time runs out will get the item. But now they say I should have ignored that information on their front page and dug deeper to find out that they can manipulate the last few seconds of bidding again and again till almost every body runs out of their $75.
Their saying that this is the way all penny auction sites work is like Nigerian scam artists saying that ” this is the way all Nigerian scam artists work” does not make it legitimate. I straight way called my Capital one credit card company and disputed the charge by xbids with misleading advertisement.
After listening to my reasoning which I have posted numerous times already. The CC company reversed the charge. This was in the beginning of November.
Best way to fight these scam sites is to dispute your charges and get your charges reversed. By now all CC companies have received thousands of complaints and know xbids is a scam and you will get your charges reversed by CC company without any problem. The trouble is that most of us just get angry for few days and then forget about it. I also wrote to the Attorney General of California about this scam site.
I am reposting this message from some one else from page one I hope he does not mind. This one has a good information about how to dispute any credit card or bank charge by xids
November 10th, 2010 at 1:01 PMIf you read ”feeling pretty foolish” post,
This is the same thing I have just done.Everything to a T!!! I have already contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute also.
This company has to be stopped! Anyone know how to report them further to the BBB or attorney general please post on how to go about this.. I too have NEVER been in this situation before..
These people know how hard times are for everyone out there and they are taking advantage of it..
One word of advise.. If this comany does respond back to you with their generated email responses, since I am on my 4th and all 4 have been pretty much the same word for word…KEEP THE EMAILS!!! My credit card company told me to keep trying to contact them and every response back wether email or by some other means …KEEP THEM!! If they dispute, the Credit Card company will use these email responses to go after them further….STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! 100% SCAM!!!
I too just fell for the same thing.I called my bank and she cancelled my card and is sending me a new one in the mail. A total scam and I feel like a total idiot!!! I don’t even want to tell my boyfriend. It was an add on the weather channel so I just assumed it was legit and maybe like ebay. Call your credit card company immediately and I am now going to write to the BBB and also contact a fraud department.
All I can say is wow. I was duped by this site as well. I purchased 135.00 worth of bids. I won an ipod nano for .32 cents on dec. 15th and still have not received it. I have sent many emails to “customer support” and get the same answer: “the holiday season is busy” “because your item is of high value it is due to be shipped out this week” BS!!! I am so pissed. I won this ipod and told my son he was getting it because it didn’t come in time for christmas! These pricks need to be dealt with street style! I am still waiting foolishly for my ipod but doubt it will ever come. I used a debit card so i doubt I can get any of that money back.
jon p.
If you tell the bank that you were dfrauded by xbids your bank should be able to take money back from xbids and crdeit your account. After all the bank is a middle man for you and xbids and has your account as well as xbids account. And if you can prove to your bank that this company is a scam. (show them all the complaints against xbids)they should be able to take money back from xbids for you.
LMAO!!! All of you that think this concept is a scam, just keep stay away from all these Penny Bids sites! If you actually took the time to UNDERSTAND how these bid sites work, it can REALLY benefit you. I’ve been using these sites for nearly 6 months and it sure beats ANY RETAILER out there. Take the time to read the small print and you can reap the rewards like me! But if you stya away from these sites; that’s EVEN BETTER because then I can get these items at 30% retail, sell it to you at 80% retail and laugh all the way to tha bank the 50% difference. One of us is the stupid one; I’ll let you figure that out. LOL Good luck everyone!
I am reposting this complaint from some one who was defrauded by this scam owner.
I understand the pros and cons of penny auction sites, so I’m not here to debate that. I will tell you about my experience, which was horrible. My wife spent $75+ to purchase bids in the hopes of getting a deal on possible Christmas presents for our kids. She was bidding for hours on a 32 Mb Apple iPad, laboring through endless 15 second clock resets. FINALLY, the auction ended and she had won it for $88.99. All good huh? NO.
This is when the trouble started. Even though we could click on the item or auction number (#15187) and see it clearly state that she (kdunk) had won, the item did not show up in her “Won Auctions” page, so she could not pay for it. In several various pages on their website, it clearly stated that she (her user name) was the winner. We had 7 days to pay for the item, but we had no way to do it. We contacted their Customer Support and got the simple answer that “we consider the issue closed”, but with NO explanation. Thinking they just had a technical glitch, I gave them time to fix it. We sent e-mails to their Support desk every day, and now, on the 8th day without resolution, we go to the same page that listed her as the winner and today they have someone else listed as the winner…with never so much as an explanation.
I have reported them to BBB and plan to file a legal complaint with the DA. I’m sure some poeple are happy with their experience (maybe), but ours was terrible and I would recommend to anybody not to fall for their amateurish way of doing business.
I tried the xbids site and won the item I bid on. Unfortunately the item has still not been shipped. Why I wonder? Probabley because I was in another auction and didn’t win but decided to purchase the item at dicount do to my bidding and surprise surprise they wouldn’t let me purchase it. I complained and was basically told I was an idiot and didn’t follow the rules. Well I followed the rules and now I am filing fraud charges. These sites need to understand we aren’t all idiots and we will have our revenge.
robert
Just call your CC company and explain to them xbids is running a scam. Give them the reason I have mentioned numerous time before.
1. Fake phone number
2.No physical address of the company only phanthom site to send customers computer generated useless answers.
4. No goods to deliver. Supposedly they call walmart or target to ship goods to the winning bidder. But put thousands of dollars in their own pocket for one telephone call to a retail store. In your case they are not even doing that.
5. Website registered by proxy to hide the identity of the owners of this scam site.
6. Even the BBB can not find out the address of the owners of this scam site.
7. Misleading advertisement on the front page of XBIDS and I quote
About xBids
“Based in San Francisco, xBids is a fast-paced, online penny auctions site that empowers its users to purchase the latest name-brand products at substantially reduced prices by allowing them to compete for such items in timed auctions where frenzied bidding and riveting excitement are the norm. The capacity to merge the real-time entertainment of placing the winning bid before time runs out with the clear savings value that is akin to the online shopping experience has proved to be a winning combination for xBids”
Although the time clock for bidding is in capital red flashing letters that the time to bid will expire in upto the last one second where does it say on the front page that they will manipulate the last few seconds again and again to mislead the bidders?
OH sure there is in fine print some where on the left side saying that they will manipulate the last few seconds.
Why advertise bidding time to finish in large flashing capital letters but hide the misleading statement in fine print some where on the third page?
Any way dispute it with your CC company and get your charges reversed without any problem. By now all CC company have received hundreds of complaints and they all know this is a scam being run by penny auction site.
Scam site! I too got jacked for the $75.00 of worthless bids. Xbid does plenty of Social Media marketing, and I fell for the story hook line and sinker. The problem is that you cannot see the history of what stuff sells for – therefore there is no way to verify if this site is legitimate. I noticed that all the negative stories on Xbid are on the 2nd through 200 pages of Google. In addition I would venture to say most of the positive stories are written by people paid to write favorable comments (even on this thread.)
It is a scam..I tried to refund my unused bids(since I read their website that they will refund unused bids)they keep telling me to be patient..ohh before that they said someone will contact me by phone regarding my refund.yeah..they called me but when I tried to call that number it says not in service…been waiting for over a month, because they said I can get my refund in 70-10 days or sometimes 30 days depending on my bank.(I really don’t know why depending on my bank)I talked to my bank and we filed a claim against them..My bank gave me a temporary refund..Now they won’t even respond to my email..CROOKS…..LIARSSSSS
it’s 7 days not 70..sorry..
if you tell your bank that xbids is not even responding to your inquiries the temporary refund will become permanent. The bank has the power to take money out of xbids account if it is proven that xbids cashed your check by fraud.
At least that is how I got my $75 from the CC company. My $75 was put in a disputed account for 45 days and we never heard from xbids again during that period and rfund bacame permanent.
X BIDS WILL TAKE 75 FROM YOUR ACCOUNT AND U WILL NEVER SEE IT
AGAIN I ALSO LEARNED THE HARD WAY . READ FINE PRINT. B4 SUBMIT
ANY CREDIT CARD NUMBERS.THEY DO NOT TELL U THAT UPON SIGNING
UP THEY WILL WITHDRAW IN LESS THAN A SECOND.! SO IF U DONT HAVE
MONEY TO COVER BEWARE.! I HOPE ONE DAY THERE IS A CIVIL LAW SUIT
AGAINTS THIS COMPANY . JUST LIKE VONAGE WITH A 4.75 MILLION LAWSUIT
GOING ON NOW. SO BIDDERS BEWARE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND QUI BIDS. HAD
NO PROBLEM WITH THEM GEAT CO AND WEBSITE. I ONLY TRIED THIS OTHER
AND AM SORRY I DID . QUI BIDS NEVER TOOK A PENNY UNTIL I DECIDED TO
PURCHASE BIDS. ON MY OWN ACCORD. AGAIN BUYERS BEWARE AND READ PRINT!
How many people have NOT received their winnings from XBIDS.COM since Dec 12, 2010? Please write a comment here… If we don’t get our winnings, then a CLASS ACTION SUIT will be filed to demand a refund (Cost of the items as indicated in the actual auction, plus ALL bids purchased and interest from be deprived of both the money and items won) I’m still hoping, but CONCERNED.
Send to our email address [email protected]
your username and auction items you still have not received…
I recently tried xbids out and was fortunate enough to win a camera for half the price that I would have in stores. That is even with all of the costs of all of the bids. It can be addictive if you are that person. I tried it once and luckily I won. They shipped my camera and I received it a short time later in the mail with no complaints. It was a one time thing for me. Good luck.
I have not received my IPAD that I won weeks ago. When I wrote to ask, they said they were rectifying and adding 20 credits…neither which was done!!! Any advice???? I am getting really frustrated and very concerned as site as been down for days for “maintenance”!
I have purchased over 75.00 in bid credits but the site has been down since I purchased the credits did I get ripped off? I am thinking I did I would not spend any money here again.
I guess they got caught already that’s why their site was down…they are crookssssssssssssssssss…to many complain about this site…
I think they are cashing out the credit card account and disappear.
Then even you will not be able to dispute your charges through your credit card company.
Remember the site is registered by proxy and no body knows the owner of this scam.It has no physical address and only a fake telephone number.
I tried it. Total SCAM. staw away from Xbids. The auction never ends so you just keep wasting money on more bids if your dumb enough to buy more…
I wondered at first, but but the first 10 items I won, got shipped to me but then the next 20 wins since 12/09/10 have not been shipped. I took scene shots of all 30 won items I won with the final bid price and shipping they charged plus what the full retail price was for each item. I even have a list from their site showing all my transaction, with transaction numbers. I am now going to my credit card company with this information, plus contacting the AG of California and anyone else to get a class action lawsuit going on this. They will not respond, and there site has been down for maintenance since 01/30/11, it has not been 11 days, so I am guessing they got caught.
Same thing with me. Won several prizes on Dec 19 and 20th. Have been emailing constantly. They say items will ship next week, and they never ship. It is now Feb 10,2011 and I have not received one. Stay away from these people.
I have been waiting for my won auctions since 12-17-10 all 6 Items have not been shipped. The funny thing is that my first 15 auction wins before 12-17-10 were all shipped on time within 3 or 4 days including my blueray player and dyson vaccum. so I do not know whats up they be be closing up shop.
They may be closing up shop and getting away with our money. I hate getting ripped off.
I was beging to think that I was the only sucker until I found this site. They may be closing up shop and getting away with our money. I hate getting ripped off.
After waiting 41 days for my purchase to arrive and it still isn’t here I decided to file a complaint with the BBB in California. The site states that it is doing “routine” maintenance, but doesn’t give a date when its suppose to be up and running just a time. HELLO! I am such a sucker!!!!
you and me both ”41 days” a sucker is born every day on xbids. I have not filed a complaint but might have too.
I have also been scammed ny xbids. I won a 32″ flat screen tv and a $50 home depot card niether of which have been sent. it has been over a month since i won and paid for the items> I would be more than happy to join a class action lawsiuit against thes crooks whoever they might be
Hey Rod keep us up to date if you know any thing about a law suit so all of us can get in on it. You are waiting for 20 items I am only waiting for 6, by the way what was your screen name on xbids.
I doubt there can be a succesful law suit against xbids. They only had a virtual site as their place of business in San Francisco. No employees at that virtual business site.
The site is registered by proxy so no body knows the owners of this business. They gave a fake business telephone number to the credit card companies to get money transferred to their account.
Once they close their credit card and bank accounts I doubt if even FBI will be able trace the owners of this scam.
Your only recourse is to dispute your charges with your credit card company. They are the only one who can credit your disputed amount before xbids closes their account with the CC compnaies and disappear into virtual space like their registered virtual business address.

Forgot to put in my date, December 7th, 2010!!
sabrina,
If you paid by credit card it will be much easier to dispute your charges with your credit card company and get your money back.
Complaining to AJ is fine but you won’t see any result for years if any. (I hope it is not too late. You are supposed to get in touch with your credit card company with this kind of fraudulant transection within 60 days)
Yes I agree it will help you in regards to contacting your credit card, but if we ALL file a complaint we could be helping each other and future victims…. We need to look beyond just ourselves, but for others. I really HOPE everyone will file a complaint….. also, you can contact me at [email protected] to stay in touch in regards to case. THANKS
This report to AJ was sent on 01/03/2011.
This is the letter I sent to the AG of California and peolple who agree with this statement can print it and send it to AG of california.
To,
The AG of California
Please investigate xbids.com a penny auction site. They are running a ponzie scheme.
This business has no physical address and has only a virtual office address without any employees. No body can find out who is the owner or CEO of this company. The website is registered by proxy to hide the identity of the owner of this company.
The telephone number they list on the customer’s monthly Credit card statement is a computer generated answering service informing the customer that no body can get in touch with them on that telephone number.
Although they advertise that one can win a product at huge discount they do not have any product to ship or a warehouse from where to ship. They charge $75 to join the bidding but then interfere with the time clock in the last 15 seconds again and again to mislead the bidder.
Although the bidding price is shown to go up by one cent at a time the owner of this website actually collects 60 cents per bid.
Example I won $100 walmart gift card for $40. This means there were 4000 bids at one cents each which equals ( 4000 x 60 cents=$2400) which the owner of this website pockets and the only thing he does for that $2400 is order $100 gift card from walmart and tell walmart to ship it directly to the winner. So Xbids collects $2400 for one phone call to walmart. And every body has to put up $75 to join this ponzie scheme and only person who always wins is the owner of this ponzie scheme.
This is a pure and simple ponzie scheme run by owners of xbids. In the last few months they must have made millions by this ponzie scheme.
No physical address, no telephone number and no goods to deliver. False and misleading advertisement. It seems like one smart scam artist with one computer in his garage is running this whole ponzie scheme and scamming millions of dollars from unsuspecting public.
Please see BBB investigative report on XBIDS and also hundreds of complaints about xbids on goole complaint site.
Please shut this pnzie sceme down and take the owners of this site ( if you can find them) to court.
BY the way I did not lose money to XBIDS.When I realised that $ 75 were taken out of my credit card account by misleading statement by XBIDS I complained to my credit card company and the $75 was put in a disputed account for 45 days. XBIDS being a scam site never tried to take that money back from disputed account and credit back became permanent.
This was on 11/11/2010.
My suggestion is to call your credit card company to disput the charge. And also complain to AJ office like I did.
REMEMBER: EVERYONE needs to file a complaint at http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx to get this in motion….. you can also call them directly at 800 251-3221 8am to 5pm EST
Please post your findings as we all our trying to reach the same goals… THANKS
[email protected]
Nancy
AND CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY and DISPUTE ALL charges……
REMINDER……….. Contact your credit card today….. you only have a small window to dispute your charges… GOOD LUCK
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre28.shtm
Go here and file the complaint… I have been advised to do this one too and hoping everyone will do the same. Please email me back once you have filed your complaint…. THANKS [email protected]
Also, it has tons of great insite about this issue too.
GOOD LUCK
Nancy
I have been waiting now for over 3 months for my refund, i have notified our States Attorney General”s Office , consumer Fraud Dept on these crooks.Ifeel like i have been made a fool out of there game, ripping off the general public at will.My $75.00 was taken out of my account in just 3 minutes, that it took them, that same same day i discover every detail about x-bids, ripping people off and i called them, sent emails to them, but to no adavil, on my refund. I receive no benfits at all, from these crooks, be careful dont give these decieveful crooks your bank card numbers, stay clear of them.
michael perkins,
I posted on 12/27/2010 in response to your complaint about XBIDS that if you dispute your charges with your credit card company or bank they will credit your account for $ 75 dollars. XBIDS being a scam site will not be able to prove that it was a legitimate transection. It may be too late but you should still get in touch with your CC company and they have the power to get your money back, unless XBIDS has cashed all their loot and disappeared without leaving any trace.
Agreed…. most credit card companies will allow disputes for charges between 60 to 90 days depending on the company you are using… it would be worth at least calling to see if you are within the time frame. So far as of today they have been down for “maintenance” 21 days and counting. I have already disputed ALL of my charges on Feb 14th… so I am counting down too… 45 days if they don’t dispute it, I will be refunded.
Please note it is also VERY IMPORTANT to file. I have included the link in my prior postings….. the more they get in the office of these complaints the importance it will become. Do it for you and for US.
Please keep us ALL posted.

Nancy
Hi Nancy I have filed my complaint and I am headed to my bank tomorrow to dispute the charges. I am hoping that I am not too late. Nancy what was your screen name on xbids
I forgot to say when I called my bank they ask me that when was my last contact with xbids and I told them that my last e-mail from xbids was on Feb. 7 2011 from a guy called George telling me that my 6 items would be shipping soon.
http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.xbids.com/page:2
this is another site with more victims of XBIDS…. read their blogs too…. I think between these two blog sites, maybe as a team we can beat this company down. I have also sent an email to the Ellen Show where they advertised, since some came off of that too as I did… Again our goal is to get XBID exposed and return our money…
Please keep everyone updated.. THANKS
Attn: “another sucker thats me”…. you actually got an email on Feb 7, 2011.. will you forward that email to my email please… [email protected]
THANKS
OK, here is the deal on the dispute part. I disuputed all charges since 12/1/10, when I starting winning my 20 items. But the bank says I cannot dispute the bid packs or the won bid cards that I paid for. The transaction on this site are 2 part, one buying bids and the other is purchasing items. You can dispute your items that you won and bought, and any bids left over when the site went down on 01/30/11, but that is it, you cannot dispute any bids you used to win items or bought bid packs. You bought the bids and they were given to you as for a service. I am extremely disappointed in this. We shouuld get everything back, but something is better than nothing. The bank said there are 2 laws out there that kind of protect these penny bid sites, and once you buy bids you are screwed, even if you used them to bid on something, win it then never receive it, you only get back what you bought it for and the shipping.
Yes it does SUCK…………….. but still get what you can get back…. Make sure to file
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre28.shtm
Let’s make sure they pay…. if we work together just maybe they will pay and maybe see some jail time… but this can’t happen if we ALL don’t file… so file PLEASE
Stay in Touch. [email protected]
Nancy
Rod,
If you buy bid pack but it turns out to be from a business which is a scam then the bid pack was also a fraudulent transection.
I bought $75 dollars of bids pack on 11th. of november but when I started bidding it was gone within few minutes without me even realising it they were charging 60 cents from my account for each bid and not one cent at a time. How ever I straight away contacted my credit card company and they told me that I need to first contact XBIDS to dispute any concern I have. How ever when I told her that the telephone number on the credit card statement is a fake telephone number the lady from credit card company put me on hold and called that number. When she realised that even she could not reach any body on that fake telephone number she reversed the charge and put it in disputed account for 45 days. XBIDS being a scam we never heard from them and the credit became permanent.
My credit card company is capital one.
Tell your bank that if a business asks you to give them $ 75 dollars and then you are mislead to take part in a scam why is that $ 75 not part of the scam as well.
You need to talk to your bank again. And tell them why they are on the side of scam artists and not you. Tell them to call capital one. Your bank is not being fair to you. Talk to the manager and show him this email.
Hi GM…. did XBIDS ever responded to the dispute? when did your bank file the dispute and the 45 days is up when?
THANKS
Nancy
ATTENTION NANCY I sent you the email that you asked for let me know if you got it. I also sent you my cell phone in case you need to talk to me thanks.
I bought the bids on 11th. of november and disputed the charge by telephone the same day. The credit card company told me to first try to contact xbids about my concern about the charge.
xbids did not answer their telephone number. I disputed the charge in writing on 29th. of november. And the amount was put in dispute on same day. The charge back became permanent after 45 days. It is almost three months now and we never heard any thing from xbids.
The banks should put all the charges in dispute. The xbids is a scam and scam sites do not want to fight with the banks.
HURRY… one of the 2 credit card companies I had used to make my charges with XBIDS has already closed the dispute charges and I won. Apparently they can’t be contacted, so my credit card company (Capital One) didn’t make me wait to close this case. It was disputed on the 14th of Feb and I received in the mail today Feb 24th their findings were in my favor case closed. Now just waiting on my other credit card company CHASE to get this resolved.
What does this tell everyone? THEY ARE OUT OF BUSINESS and don’t expect them to return…. DISPUTE ALL charges…. making them all gift cards and other items.
GOOD LUCK and we are still going to keep moving forward to assure EVERYONE will recover from their loses… Please stay in touch and email me your findings at [email protected]
Nancy
Attn: another sucker thats me….. Got your email and responded…. did you not get it?
Nancy
My credit card was a debit card which is a whole different ball game which I am finding out. They my bank or visa is not going to let me dispute the purchases of bids or bid cards, only the items I won and the bids left on the website when they shut down. I am still fighting all the charges, but Visa and Regulation E do not allow the bids to be counted because they were purchased and used for thier intended purpose. I should have kept my mouth shut and said I never received the bids in the first place, on the the bids that I won on items.
Nancy,
If you are making claims that all the purchases you had were all gift cards and items, aren’t you telling your credit card company a lie? Not defending Xbids by any way, but also don’t want anyone getting in to trouble by not honestly presenting our case. Don’t do something that may come back on you and get you in trouble even though xbids is not disputing it.
No that was not was I meant.. sorry….. only on ALL items and if you are not sure which was which in my case was.. most of my wins were gift cards… the company stated if I was close to about what the items were it would be fine… Sorry for the confusion…
Rod,
I do not know about debit card transection. But I bought $ 75 worth of bids pack and used it for its intended purposes in the auction.I did not win any thing or buy any thing. How ever when I disputed those $ 75 with my CC company and they found out that xbids is a scam site. The credit card company reversed the charge. I believe your bank should credit your account for even the bids pack. Because xbids sold you the bids pack with fraudulent intention and should not be allowed to keep that money.
