Ontario budget to fund free child care for preschoolers as part of $2.2B plan
Only a couple of news outlets to the best of my knowledge covered this story. The links are provided below.
Promising one groups money close to reelection time is disgusting. This is why I personally think Municipalities need more power than provincial governments. Personally I won’t be voting Kathleen Wynne but I wouldn’t be surprised if she won. Why? Because she’s been buying votes since she got in power. Every last one of her election promises have intentionally been given nearing the end of her term.
The reason she’s been selective with her timing is the same reason why she had to remortgage the electricity disaster her government created. Most of her plans are financial disasters, but she made sure she made good on her promises to her voters right before election time. My issues is she could have done this stuff sooner so Ontarians could see the results. The minimum wage hike has led to higher prices for everything, however the full effects of the minimum wage hikes will be a gradual process as businesses adjust and as other potential businesses simply do not come to Ontario for business.
I have to be honest here, this is the first time that I won’t mind if the Liberals win another term. The reason is because I want Ontario voters to feel the effects how disastrous these Liberals are. If a conservative comes along what’s going to happen is he (in this instance Doug Ford) is going to patch up the mess Wynne created which is going to allow the Liberals to say “see, we told you so, look how hard life is now that the conservatives are in power”. which in turn allows Liberals to more wiggle room to get re-elected. Liberal policies will lead to either hyper-inflation or a crash. Personally I’d prefer a crash.
On the federal level Stephen Harper wasn’t perfect but he did his best to balance the books while trying to maintain his appeal to voters. Trudeau’s Liberals care nothing about balancing the books which can work when there’s no global competition. But this isn’t the 1990’s and Canada is getting more socialist in the wrong time. Canada is not America, and well Ontario Canada’s most populous region is deeply in debt and heavily regulated. because life appears to be normal Ontarians actually don’t know how truly bad the situation really is. Our manufacturing sector is disappearing, our retail sector is changing and our residential real estate market is booming. The decay that’s happening in California is real and that’s on its way to Ontario if as long as these Liberals continue to push their backward thinking wasteful spending policies.
$2.2B daycare announcement – What does it mean?
I live close to affluent neighbourhoods here in Toronto and well the affluent don’t take their children to daycares because… It’s cheaper for them to bring in a Filipino or a Foreign worker to take care of their children while they’re away at work.
The real question to ask is why wouldn’t the affluent take their children to more prestigious day care centers? well the truth is even the cheapest day care centers are over priced. Why they’re over priced is because our government rewards failure, The Wynne government also raised wages, which artificially raised the cost of living. Day care centers are also heavily regulated, which also raises the costs and because of the heavy regulations a lot of people that otherwise would start daycare centers simply don’t because it costs too much, which ultimately means there’s a lack of supply.
Prices for Daycare especially for people who actually work for a living could pay down a mortgage which is why the affluent will simply hire a foreigner and give them free room and board. It’s simple math. The poorer people of Ontario because of regulations are not given enough resources to make this competition for the day care centers. All of this stuff is disastrous just thinking about it is depressing and the only way to wake people up is a crash. Personally I’d much rather the crash happen while Liberals are in power. because it’s their policies that are destroying this province.
