Toronto High Rise Condo Bubble – List of cities with the most high-rise buildings
Toronto currently makes the list of of cities with the most high-rise buildings, but unlike cities like Moscow, Hong Kong, New York City, Istanbul, London UK and Tokyo, Toronto clocks in at around 3 million people, let’s add 1 million to that number to be safe and say Toronto has 4 million people the reality is Toronto has 2.81 as of 2017. But ok 4 million if you compare Toronto High rise buildings to the amount of high rise buildings in Toyko, Japan for example, Tokyo, Japan has 2,928 buildings and Toronto Canada has 2,438.

Now I can understand the argument against these findings, but the only country with similar stats to Toronto is Hong Kong, Hong Kong currently has 7,833 high rise buildings to match 7,061,200. Why I point Hong Kong out is because the (BIS) has identified Canada, along with Hong Kong and China, as the country most at risk of a financial crisis. Living in Toronto, I know there’s a condo crisis, I just don’t think people know how bad it really is.
One would think New York City per person would have more buildings than Toronto, but that’s not the case and New York City real estate is in much higher demand than that of Toronto. The reason why New York City doesn’t make the list in the real estate market the way Toronto does is because a large number of the condo owners in New York City are actual millionaires and don’t carry mortgages that are too far out of reach in comparison to mortgages being held in Canada, namely Toronto. These are just warning signs folks, maybe it’s nothing maybe remember
A high-rise is defined as a structure at least 35 metres (115 ft) or 12 stories tall.
My argument here is that I think there’s a lot more empty condos in Toronto than people realise, to give you a Canadian city to city perspective Vancouver has 2,504,300 million people and Vancouver only has 691 high rise buildings. According to those stats and I’m just trying to make Canadians grasp something, I don’t want to sound repetitive but Toronto when these post was created has 2,731,571 people and 2,438 high rise buildings. Think about that for a moment, allow it, to sink in. Remember there are also buildings in Toronto that are only 8 stories high or shorter. Think about it Canada!
