Don’t Give the Conservatives or the NDP a Blank Cheque – Says the Ontario Liberal Party of Canada

The Liberals, for the most part, have been leftists, however, there have periods where the Liberals have taken centrist positions. In 2018 it’s very difficult to tell the differences between the Liberals and the NDP. In my opinion this mainly due to Justin Trudeau who for the most part seems clueless about economics. To make matters worse Bill Morneau comes across as an arrogant finance minister who can’t seem to wrap his head around former Liberal finance minister Paul Martin who actually understood the relationship between the private and public sectors.

Now I understand some of you who think I can be biased towards Paul Martin because of what he did for the Canadian economy. For me it’s not about being biased, it’s about comprehending why loopholes exist in the first place. If there are no loopholes and the tax code towards businesses becomes subjective and the government at any time it deems suitable can come in and destroy a business, individuals, small businesses will stop creating jobs, this is the case in several Democrat run U.S states like Detroit.

So what winds up happening in cities like Detroit is businesses simply do not open a business there, real estate developers simply don’t build anything and your economy becomes dependent on the public service sector. Now even with the present tax code, Canada has a hard time attracting private sector jobs and Bill Morneau still refuses to acknowledge the challenges facing small businesses. When you research Bill Morneau what you learn is that he himself comes from the service sector.

Yes, he was an entrepreneur, but with most consultantship businesses a lot of the tougher accounting tasks are often outsourced. Which is an indicator to me that Bill Morneau may not appreciate the genius of Paul Martin. Some have called Morneau a globalist I don’t want to get into all that stuff, but I do pay close attention to Bill Morneau and it’s that type of thinking that has people no longer viewing Liberals as centrists and viewing them as Leftists.

If you’re wondering how the Venezuelan economy ended up where it is today, where their people can’t even get toilet paper. It’s because in their tax code there exist no loopholes, not only are there no tax loopholes you can be arrested in Venezuela and your businesses nationalized if the Venezuelan government deems that your business or businesses are too profitable. That said to give you an idea, if Amazon’s headquarters was located in Venezuela their government would have nationalized it and if the founder didn’t conform to their socialist political ideals he would be sent to prison.

I illustrate this because when you start removing loopholes from your tax code, this is how accountants, tax professionals, and intelligent people view your government’s ideology. Businesses will then start to look at demographics, investigate the culture of the people in your country and often decide to move their headquarters elsewhere. This becomes more and more problematic as your country becomes increasingly dependent on imports. Venezuela didn’t happen in a day, it did, however, happen in small increments with precedence being set.

When you understand that a taxation is a form of theft of the people your way of thinking will change. People forget that countries didn’t need taxes in the past if you look at old civilizations like Greece and Italy one of their countries main problems today are collecting taxes and the reason for this is that the people know in their history that taxes didn’t exist and their nations were once prosperous without taxes.

Volunteerism and incentive are what makes countries great, so if you’re going to have taxes they need to be justified meaning if you’re in violation or if your business requires a direct public service you’ll be subject to a tax. However, if built into the tax code a government can simply create a reason for you to pay more taxes and you can’t fight it or you as a business will have to pay lawyer fees to fight the charge well it’s that type of thinking that creates Venezuela’s.

Hopefully, the Liberals will find their way because the last thing Canada needs, especially right now is a dominant NDP government.

Interesting times ahead.
