What does WBY and WBU mean in texting?

No matter how you use these two acronyms in a text or online chat conversation this is bad English. When I was first introduced to these terms I was stuck wondering how this slang even came into existence I guess “WAY” is an actual word and people speaking the English language are inheritably lazy so WBY and the one I really hate WBU had to be created same way somehow. My English is bad but with slangs like this I really wonder about our future generations

WBY = What bout you (What about you)

WBU = What bout u (What about you)

Most like these terms would be used in response to something example I might ask someone “How was your day” and they would respond “Good! WBY” or I might say to someone “Are you fan of the Dallas cowboys” and they might respond “Yes! WBU”. Not a fan of this slang but it’s one of those slang abbreviations that’s getting more and more popular day by day.
