Ontario Canada wants free speech in colleges, universities – Progressive Conservative Government – August 30, 2018

A good read on MSN today via the Canadian Press which you can read below regarding the loss of freedom of speech radical leftists have been fighting to limit. You can click the link below to read the article yourself.

Ontario wants free speech in colleges, universities

This is a statement by Doug Ford:

“Colleges and universities should be places where students exchange different ideas and opinions in open and respectful debate,” Ford said in a statement. “Our government made a commitment to the people of Ontario to protect free speech on campuses.”

Now, I don’t see anything wrong with what Doug Ford said there, to me it sounds absurd to limit what Teens and Young adults can say. I was taught telling a kid NO! is and always will be the wrong approach to educating them. Because young people are often curious about the dark side and if you make entire topics or if you limit the freedom of speech, what you’ll get in the future are kids people intentionally pushing the societies boundaries in the opposite direction which in most instances makes a situation far worse because the right to freedom of speech had been limited.

In the 1990’s, many in my generation were culture shocked by this music called rap and hip-hop, up until the early 1990’s people weren’t used to hearing curse words on musical soundtracks in such abundance. The main reason hip-hop music became so successful was that the world prior to it was still conservative. Sure the 1960’s had something to do with the emergence of Hip-hop, but what hip-hop was, was a reflection of young or adolescent culture and for many of the conservative types it was an unwelcomed culture shock.

Why the music became so successful was that it was a rebellion against parents and authority figures. It was my generations chance to tell adults that we don’t like you pushing us around and we’re going to do and say whatever we want. Well, the main reason hip-hop came out the way it did is the exact thing Leftist are trying to do now.

Which is limit what people can say, limit what people can do, put authority figures everywhere and make sure nothing in secular society is controversial. If something is controversial according to these leftist it must be silenced and ostracised. This is a huge problem these leftist are causing and I don’t think they understand that they’re repeating the sins of the church. Leftists are trying to replace the Christian church with the church of the government.

There’s a lot going on in society today that Christians didn’t okay, There’s not a day that goes passed where atheists aren’t taking shots at Christians, not a day goes by where a musician uses Christian symbols to make a secularist argument and through all of this Christians have had to allow people their rights to speak freely. Yet, the Leftists in my ways are taking a similar position that Islamic extremists have taken in that they want to make certain that people they don’t agree with are not allowed to speak freely.

Totalitarianism never starts off totalitarian, it often starts off free, to lure people into being comfortable, in time the people’s freedoms are limited because the authority figures want to stop bad people from doing bad things, so guess what happens, then the definition of being a bad person begins to expand, possibly a new rulebook is created and depending on how good this rulebook is written, some of the laws of this religious rule book, now become open to interpretation or subjective. It’s at this time while confusion is at an all-time high that a dictator often steps in and voila you have yourself a dictatorship.

The separation between church and state is the separation from history and dogma and present-day reality. Why does a large segment of the American citizenry not want to disarm themselves or get rid of their guns? Because the truth is society isn’t perfect, we’re living through an experiment, there are no guarantees that this will work and one of the sure fire ways to drive a wedge into society is to subjugate free speech, especially amongst children. This generation might be okay with limiting their free speech, but the generation that follows might be in complete opposition and they’ll be within their rights to think so.

In many communist and authoritarian countries, if you dare use the wrong words, you’ll be jailed, tortured and killed. In Canada, we assume that because we’re not there yet that we’ll never get there. The more laws you create the more laws there are to be broken and this is how civilization crumbles. You’ll often read about using the words “over-regulation”, I advise the Ontario school boards not to overly regulate free speech it won’t end well.

Interesting times ahead.
