The Canadian labor participation rate dropped to 65.2 percent, lowest since October 1998. – October 2, 2018
To start the first question that should the reader of this post should ask is what does The Canadian labor participation rate mean?
The labor force participation rate measures an economy’s active labor force and is the sum of all employed workers divided by the working age population. It refers to the number of people who are either employed or are actively looking for work. During an economic recession, many workers often get discouraged and stop looking for employment, resulting in a decrease in the participation rate. The number of people who are no longer actively searching for work would not be included in the participation rate.

Now, this decline isn’t new to Canada and this isn’t just a Trudeau problem, in actuality, this is has happened frequently under Liberal leadership in Canada, this happens under Liberal leadership because Liberals make a lot of promises to voters that are really expensive to implement. Minimum wage hikes are very costly because what the government is saying to Canadian is that certain businesses should exist in Canada if they can’t make a profit without paying a Canadian worker as an example $14 per hour. $14 x 7.5 hours = $105 per day, per employee minimum. So if you’re a new business in Canada that manufactures $1 store widgets, there is no realistic chance that you can compete with a Chinese manufacturer or a manufacturer from a low wage country.
Wage growth weakens despite tightened job market; unemployment rate dips to 5.8 per cent
So as an example Canadian manufacturers won’t make as many bolts and screws, or dollar store widgets and, therefore, Canada will be more dependent on importing these $1 widgets from low wage countries. But oh! things get even better when Justin Trudeau goes to low wage countries like China and India and demands they live up to Canada’s clean energy demands and cultural standards when Canada’s dependence on these countries is ever growing.
On the subject of minimum wages, guess what the minimum wage loophole is? Yup, you guessed it family businesses? Below is some information from the CTV News!
For employee work, the public sector lost 30,800 jobs last month, while the private sector added 20,300 positions. Of the new jobs, 21,800 came in the less desirable category of self employment, which is a classification that includes people working in a family business without pay.
So when Trudeau Liberals demand Saudi Arabia treat it’s women better what kind of negotiating position is Canada really in? I mean shouldn’t we at the very least get our own house in order before we push around other countries? If we really care about the people of these countries wouldn’t it be wiser that create a voluntary society that allows Canadians the right to boycott businesses with their dollars who exploit Canadians? Why are we opting for the extremely expensive and economically destructive model of the Liberals which is forcing Canadian businesses to pay more when Canadians are free to quit a job whenever they want?
Who convinced Canadians that debt, a lower loonie, massive regulations and a higher cost of living were a good idea? My grandparents used to save, so in actuality when my grandmother quit her job, her standard of living went unchanged.
What regulations like the minimum wage do is they create an incentive not to work, in actuality as long as there is a minimum wage Canadians have every right to refuse to work especially if they manage to qualify for some sort of government welfare. This, of course, is how Venezuela got into its disastrous mess, adding to this is the fact that Liberals, as well as the NDP, grow the government by either strengthening the grip of Crown Corporations in Canada or growing the Public Sector both whom in Canada can unionize.
Once the government becomes this large the reality is that the options for job seekers start to dry up as there is inevitably less competition in the private sector as well as fewer profit motives for the private sector. This, of course, leads to more demands for welfare. Universal Basic Income didn’t just spring up out of nowhere, no as the welfare state expands the idea of consolidating the welfare state inevitably becomes the reality, people start to ask why have multiple welfare offices? When we can merge it into one and thus you get more and more people opting not to work.
Now, the Liberal government will try to remedy this problem by bringing in more economic migrants into Canada to hopefully either cure the labor skills shortage or to create more jobs, but the reality is the Liberal government via regulations artificially raised the barrier to entry. I brought minimum wage regulations because it’s the regulation most people are most familiar with, but there are other regulations being introduced like equal pay for women, what constitutes inappropriate behavior in the workforce and other social justice regulation that have somehow made it under the Workplace health and safety in Canada.
Now it’s very hard for a small business person to micro-manage all of this, so you know what happens instead? A lot of jobs in Canadian either intentionally don’t grow or they’ll be extremely selective with who they hire. It’s hard for a lot of Canadians to understand that a lot of the vacant job positions in Canada are only vacant because of the regulatory laws in Canada. In the past, it was common for employers to take an employee with no education and train that person to become a CEO. That doesn’t happen much anymore because of things like minimum wages and subjective workers rights legislation.
Once regulations are in those grey area’s employers start to worry about getting sued. If you’re old enough to remember Canadian employees used to be some of the toughest-minded people in the world, not anymore, employers have had to back off. This is okay, for social justice but it’s created a problem that will only get worse as Canadians feel more entitled to fair treatment.
Unemployment rate dips to 5.8 per cent in October as fewer search for work
-Looking at industries, the goods-producing sector lost 12,000 jobs last month in a decline led by a notable loss of 7,100 positions in natural resources work. The services sector added 23,200 jobs in October following a gain of 22,000 positions in business, building and other support services.
It was frequent in the past for an employee and employer to simply part ways and move on to the next, because there were more options, but with fewer options and more welfare spending employers don’t have to, nor do they want to raise wages and employees are turning down more jobs now more than ever because like it or not welfare is still viable option for most people. A lot of older workers are retiring sooner and there’s going to be a retirement explosion happening in Canada very soon. This is all happening while The Canadian labor participation rate as of November 2, 2018, is dropping to 65.2 percent, the lowest since 1998.
Now if you visit the articles I point to in this post you’ll notice that the headlines in some instance appear rather optimistic, I’m an optimistic person myself and the upside to this is my hope is that Canadians realize that the Liberals and NDP have done what they could, they’re now past their primes, in reality Canada doesn’t need Leftism anymore, by now Canadians should realise that a bigger government may have worked in the past, but we’re not in a technological era, an era where a person, a family can start a business with little money down and the government is not helping Canadian e-commerce the Liberals are in the way.
Shopify should is Canadian and the reality is the Canada Post is in the way of Canada becoming an e-commerce powerhouse. As many of you know when I made my transition into e-commerce the truth of how destructive government policies are in Canada smacked me dead in the face. Our real estate market in Canda is not just a residential problem it’s an industrial problem, prices are inflated everywhere in Canada and that’s why manufacturing jobs are being replaced by service sector jobs, it’s also important to understand that a lot of private sector jobs in Canada are dependent on government contracts or contracts with crown corporations. Public Sector unions in Canada have been a complete disaster to the country and for the most part, the public sector unions and government have merged.
The Progressive Conservatives had to support supply management, because they were bought and paid for years ago for votes, The Liberals have always been corporatist, they have to be, the NDP is the party of Crown Corporations, Public and Private sector unions which is why everywhere they go their micro-managed economies becomes stagnant (Alberta).
I’ve been warning Canadians and I’m not going to stop because I love this country. The time for real change needs to happen soon because if it doesn’t we’re going to have a similar problem as Argentina. In reality our economic situation in Canada is worse than Argentina’s, however, we have America as a trading partner, which up until now has made it seem like our current economic policies are sustainable. They’re not, they’ve never been, what’s happened throughout the years is that Canada has been lucky enough that the United States hasn’t realized that our Lower Loonie only exists as a means to lure manufacturers to Canada.
Well the New USMC Agreement changed all of that and I’ve been saying it for month’s now what Trudeau should have done is the exact same thing China did, which was to cut regulations equivalent to America’s, he didn’t instead they played the waiting game until Mexico signed it’s own trade deal with the United States thus forcing Canada into a position to make very important concessions. Apparently, Trudeau’s Liberals believed that Trump would win the upcoming midterms? Which is moronic if you think about it, because if they thought that it would have been wiser to take my approach which was to cut regulations.
All that aside service sector jobs mean a lower loonie is coming, when manufacturing disappears, skilled labor disappears also, when you country no longer makes and manufacturers things you country becomes more dependent on other countries, making matters worse is the growth of Canada’s public sectors as well as the power of Crown Corporations in Canada, the power of public sector unions in government. If things don’t change in Caanda soon, forget crash we’ll have 2 options permanent economic stagnation or economic collapse. As most of you know I’ve said for years that stagnation seems more realistic, but this was before Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party was created.
My thoughts regarding the Canada’s economic situation is simple, I’d prefer ther Progressive Conservatives and the People’s Party of Canada to be the top 2 political parties in Canada. That’s the only way proper economic arguments will make it to the mainstream media stage. When I see the and listen to the Canadian mainstream media I hear multiple voices for the NDP, The Greens and The Liberals and 1 voice for the Conservaites which means it’s only natural that Canadians would embrace a Leftist view of the world.
If the on the debate stage there were the Conservartives and the The People’s Party debating over economic issues the truth about the Welfar state would be exposed for the scam that it is. Also, Liberals and the NDP would have to actually debarte about real issues for a change instead of basing everything about social issues. Canada has some nice people with strong moral foundations, we don’t need the government to dictate our social lives, so they can give welfare to the corporate entities they’re aligned with.
In this coming election, I ask Canadians to seriously consider the People’s Party of Canada, they have the knowledge and economic principals to right these wrongs. Those of you fighting for welfare I’m warning you that if you continue to vote left you’re going to lose it all. In Illinois the governments there have run out of money, inflation is becoming a serious problem there, Detroit the same thing and most Leftist run U.S States like Baltimore have similar problems. Businesses will close and leave if these Leftist government policies continue. Nobody, no business no person wants an authority figure watching over their shoulder or micro-managing everything they do.
This is how revolutions occur, this is how great civilizations collapse, this is how people lose everything. A free society is based on FREEDOM! If you don’t want to do a job don’t do it, just don’t expect the rest of us to subsidize your lifestyle. If you believe that your labor is worth nothing less than $14 an hour refuse to work for any job that pays you less than $14 an hour but don’t force other people that are willing to work for less to lose their rights to work for less. Obviously, I can go on and on about this stuff. But I’ll stop here. Be warned Canada we’re going to change one way or the other, because we’re broke, in debt and losing our ability to manufacture things essential to our existence.
Let’s build a country based on voluntary Love and Compassion! Canadians with more money can create the jobs and charities that Canadians need. We don’t need the government to be the charity. Consider the People’s Party of Canada.
UPDATE 1-Canada adds 11,200 jobs, unemployment rate dips to 5.8 pct
I want to make sure that all my readers are aware that my views and the views of the People’s Party of Canada are not perfectly aligned and you should listen and follow Maxime Bernier to learn more about the People’s Party of Canada. I will make it clear that in this upcoming election I will either be voting for the People’s Party of Canada or the Libertarian Party of Canada as their views are more closely aligned with my views.
Interesting times ahead.
