Ontario Social Justice Warriors Should Love School Vouchers – November 23, 2018,

Being that education is a very important topic for me I took the time to watch this TVO broadcast and Around the 2:19 mark Annie Kidder of “People For Education” spills the beans without even realizing it. To understand what people For Education is all about click here: Public education. Public good. – People for Education is an independent, non-partisan, charitable organization working to support and advance public education through research, policy, and public engagement. The keyword in all of this is Public education

Early on in Annie Kidder arguments, she says when that when given the choice most parents will take their children out of public school which she says claims causes, division, and leads to the public education system getting less money. She believes it’s the job of government to balance society, she’s pretty much a believer in the government social engineering society, which she admits is a tough thing to do. This my friends is the problem with the education system, there are a lot of people that believe the same thing Annie Kidder believes and it’s these people that feel like it’s the government’s job to shape your children’s futures.

The government’s job is to protect our freedoms and Liberties, that’s it. It’s not the government’s job to play the role of King, Queen, Emperor or God over us. The real reason people want public schools often revolves around money and control. Being that public schools have teachers unions, the needs of the teachers come first, the public school teachers have to get paid what they believe they’re worth and when they don’t, they don’t quit or boycott instead they strike and demand things like tenureship, which of course disrupts the public education system, because all of a sudden the cost to run a public school skyrocket.

These high prices, of course, lead to property taxes and other taxes on citizens to rise, which then leads to the government having to find more creative ways to tax more Ontarians to make up for the deficit created by the entitled teachers. making matters worse is that new teachers can only enter when old teachers retire, which of course equates to the public school system being slow to react to changes in the world.

Now, because we have such a massive public education system in Ontario, most of our Public Schools are deteriorating, now the teachers will, of course, blame Doug Ford or whatever provincial government is in power, but the reality is that they’re the problem, their greed is the problem, their unwillingness to compete with the private sector is the problem and because they’re able to live comfortably in their bubble they don’t have to think outside the box.

If you’re not a fan of how I write well, I graduated from the public school system and I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there, what can I honestly say that I learned from public schools in Ontario? Basic math, that’s about it, everything else I learned was from working and from reading books. When I was in school the problem I had was too much estrogen, even as a male student I found myself having to come down, not because I respected my female teachers as people, but because I respected women. I thought most of my female and male teachers were horrible, I thought the classrooms sizes were too large to manage for a person and I felt the public school reflected a woman’s view of the world.

Why I say this is that when I left school I was annoyed that I didn’t learn any trades. I was a pretty dumb kid and too be honest I would have been happy simply learning a skilled trade, but skill trades weren’t available at the public schools I attended and being that I had to go to the public school in my area because that’s where I lived and I was banned from going to a public school outside of public school district I got stuck learning a bunch of things that had nothing to do with how I envisioned my future.

When I was in my teens late teens and trying to find a job I got fired a few times for being incompetent, at the time I wanted to be a truck driver, I wanted to be a truck driver and then be an electrician, that was plan, but I hadn’t been around truck drivers or electricians, so when I encountered these people they looked at me the way they should have looked at me, like an ignorant incompetent moron. Now, I’m not alone on this, a lot of male students share my pain even though many of them won’t say it.

I wish there was a voucher system when I was growing up, the mere thought of being able to be an electrician or a pilot when I was younger, I would have been so happy, my life probably would have been 10 times more productive than it is even now, I think by now I would probably be teaching other kids my profession, but no, most of early adult life was spent trying to stay out of debt and learning everything the hard way.

I hate public schools, there is no way in hell my children are going to public school, I have insurance policies in case I die and I’ll work 3 jobs if I have to, to make sure my children never have to step foot in that hell hole known as an Ontario public school, if my children were forced to go to a public school, I’d move, I hate Ontario Public schools and I think it’s a mean-spirited act for any parent to send their child to one.

With that said on the flip side, I believe in freedom, freedom of choice, so if I were a social justice warrior like many students are, I’d love the idea of choosing my own school. I actually love the idea of social justice warriors or socialist in general attending the same schools, in my opinion, it would be a great way to dispel the socialist myth, because I know the results would scream loudly that socialist, Marxist schools produce the worst results in children.

I think when children become adults and see that the students that stayed away from Socialism and Marxism have the best results in life, they’d do what’s right for their offspring and keep them away from the collectivists. As I’m writing this a group of public servants known as Canada Post workers are on strike, they’re on strike for similar reasons that teachers often go on strike for, job security, retirement security, and higher pay.

Because these public servants are public servants current Prime minister Justin Trudeau is trying to force them back to work, how I view this scenario is the same way I view public school teachers, the public servants are putting their personal needs ahead of the people they serve and therefore they shouldn’t be public servants and instead should work in the private sector.

In the private sector, you can’t simply raise prices on the people you serve, when you raise prices you have to justify the higher price, because your customers have choices or other options, if you’re in the private sector and you raise your prices without reason a competitor of yours might wipe your company out, putting you out of business, it happens all the time.

These are lessons that my children have to learn in Private School, there’s are topics often ignored in Public Schools, in Public Schools the majority of the teachers are socialist and why shouldn’t they be? They made the power structure (The taxpayer) give in to their demands. Competition, in my opinion, is what Public school teachers and believers in the public education system fear the most because they don’t know how to compete.

Teneur, do you know how damaging that is to a person mind, you have a job because you’ve been there the longest, not because your the best at what you do, but because it’s very hard to fire you. I honestly don’t know how Public School teachers sleep at night. If someone’s better than me at doing something I’d rather they do the job, especially if I’m a teacher. Children’s lives are at risk, depression, and suicide among men are up, do people not think there’s any correlation with the public school system?

The story I illustrated above, do people really think that I’m alone on this? Girls doing better in school than boys, 70%+ of public school teachers are female, do you not think there’s something wrong with that? Aren’t the female school teachers more likely to view education from a female’s perspective? Education is very important to me, I commend Doug Ford on what he’s doing and I pray that things will get better in Ontario’s education system.

One of the countries that came up often during the discussion video was Chile and what appeared to be their disastrous voucher system, well the data says otherwise. First, we have to put the voucher system in Chile in its proper context, the first thing to understand about Chile is that it’s in Latin America, now that in Latin America segregation is quite common, also Latin America has social problems that we don’t have in Canada, so if you’re comparing Chile to Canada it’s probably not a good idea and here’s why

The reasons why some students get rejected from some private schools is because some of the private schools in Chile have proven to be the best of the bunch and therefore demand for these school is so high that they can’t meet the demands of everybody. This problem isn’t so much as people are being disenfranchised it’s that only the very smartest students are able to go to these schools. This doesn’t mean that if a Chilean student goes to another school they’re not receiving a quality education it’s just parents are parents and if they know a school is the best school they want their children to go there. The exact same thing happens at Toronto public schools, most parents given the option want their children going to the best public school.

I was rejected from 2 public high schools in affluent neighborhoods because I wasn’t smart enough and I wasn’t in the jurisdiction, with that said a friend of mine who was much smarter than I was in High School got except at both high schools and attended both, he’s actually the person that told me to apply there. Now, these stories don’t get to the public of Ontario very often because there’s no incentive for teachers to talk about it. But if you’re living in let’s say Jane and Finch and you’re not a very smart student, try going to York Mills Collegiate and see how quickly you’re told that this school is not in your jurisdiction. However, if you have something to offer York Mills Collegiate like maybe you’re a genius, they’ll gladly take you in.

This is basically what’s happening in Chile, what’s being ignored about Chile’s voucher system is that they have the Student Achievement in Chile Compared to Other Latin American Countries is far better, even than Argentina which has a far larger Spanish speaking native European population than does Chile. You can read about this by clicking the link below:

The Chile Experiment—the first study of its kind—author Mariano Narodowski

The problem with Public Servants and Public School Teachers are that they rarely dive into the data of things, they tend to do what most Politicians do which is generalize everything, or consolidate information and/or measure information based on their own criteria. Public School teachers have their own means of testing, they’re of the belief that there way is and should be the only way to administer testing and if another school takes a different approach that school should automatically be disqualified or discredited. This is why most public servants tend to have control issues, this is why if you send your child to a public school, the public school teacher will act as if they know what’s best for your child.

The Chile voucher experiment is quite easy to understand, parents want the best for their children, there’s a school on the hill it’s the best school and in the eyes of the poorer families, only the rich or majority of the rich kids are attending this school and they’re being turned away and therefore in the poor parents minds the government should remedy this situation somehow. But the truth is the situation in Chile is probably already remedied it’s just the poorer parents were fixated on one school when the reality could be that another school might offer just as good education.

I can’t say what the future holds for sure in the Chilean voucher school system, but the numbers don’t lie, they’re number 1 in South America and what I like is that the parents are very involved, hopefully int he future they won’t be so emotionally charged about sending their children to only certain schools. The great thing is that they have a choice and a competitive education system. I still believe that as a parent you should take some responsibility for children’s education, the truth is there are still great kids that go through the public education system, but what I find most of the time is that those great kids have great parents who are deeply involved in their children’s education. For myself, no way in hell my children are going to public schools, definitely not in Ontario.

Interesting times ahead
