Mississauga residents at town hall voice strong support for splitting from Peel Region – April 09, 2019,
Guess what part of the GTA I hate going to the most? If you guessed Brampton also known as B-Town you’d be correct! If Brampton were a country it like many other cities in Ontario would be beyond bankrupt. Now, when I think about Mississauga I think about Hazel Mae, who’s a very smart woman who by the way although an independent often leans to the Liberal end of the spectrum. Although not your prototypical Classical Liberal, she’s a Liberal that could actually debate you on sound economic principles.
The average member of the NDP and Liberal parties of the modern era often have to resort name calling in order to win a debate. Hazel Mae, on the other hand, could drag you and your Libertarian arguments through the mud based on Canadian historical precedence. Should be noted that Hazel Mae didn’t need a Justin Trudeau to be a woman of political power, she was simply better than her competition, I sure as hell know I couldn’t beat her in a political debate, she’d mop the floor with me. But whenever the rest of these mayors or mayor hopefuls show up at my door I’m usually disappointed with how dumb they are. I remember a man coming to my door claiming to be a Conservative, that stated that he wanted to fight for better Rent controls?
I say this because Hazel Mae did such a great job with Mississauga that if relieved itself of its Peel Region shit hole status it would do a lot better. Everyone in Mississauga knows it and Mississauga for me is the prime example why Canada should take a look at the Swiss political system. Do you know who the Prime Minister or President of Switzerland is? Of course, you don’t and neither do many of the Swiss, that’s because in their political system nobody cares who it is, in Switzerland their equivalent to Municipalities have the most power, which is how they manage to not only stay out of so many wars but also have a much more flexible economy.
If you have a bad political idea in Switzerland it gets exposed very quickly and the people can quickly and easily vote for change. Now, if a person were to simply look at the numbers, the assumption is that Switzerland is in similar shape to Canada, unfortunately, this is far from the truth, bureaucracy in Canada and Canada’s inability to adapt to changing world economy is going to prove fatal to our economy in the event of a recession. In many parts of Europe as well as America, a deflating economy will probably be some of the most prosperous times in their countries history.
For Mississauga residents, they’re tired of paying for Peel Regions stupid leadership. In a free market, if it comes to a teachers attention that some students are learning at a faster rate than others, as cold as it might seem, the students who learn faster will be promoting or will graduate to a place that better caters to them. Now in the grand scheme of things, this doesn’t always mean that this graduation will equate to more prosperity in the long run but in the present, the smarter kids would be put in a class by themselves.
Now, the dumber kids aren’t necessarily dumb at all they may simply be misguided or maybe they’re having a harder time understanding the teaching or the teacher’s pace of teaching. In a free market, this creates an opportunity for maybe another type of teacher, maybe a different teaching style to be introduced to these children who view learn at a different pace. What you don’t want to happen however is for the people learning at a faster pace to remain with the people who are having a difficult time learning. Because this is what creates resentment and this is of course what leads to economic disasters, humans individuality needs to be recognized, however, it’s never the job of politics to pick winners and losers.
Missauga made the winning bet, by selecting Hazel Mae, which in case people don’t understand, when you have a smart leader, leading you, you pick up on things and learn things faster than the people who were ruled under a stupid leader. So there are laws that the people of Mississauga understand that the rest of Peel region can’t comprehend. Most of these laws revolve around productivity, one law that a lot of people have a hard time understanding is income taxes. Who pays income taxes, the employee or the employer? I’m not going to answer that question for you, but if you answer that question incorrectly or if you answered both, you’d not only be wrong but you’d be an economic moron!
Once you know the answer to that question, every single action as mayor that you make will be infused with energy that makes your city a lot better than the cities who believe that social justice should be their guiding light!. I wish the residents of Mississauga all the best, Peel Region better hold onto Mississauga as Canada holds onto Alberta because without Mississauga, Peel Region, for the most part, is a shit hole!
