CNBC: How Canada’s Universal Health-Care System Works Review – July 6, 2019,

If someone were to ask you which country is more giving Canada or the United States? You guess Canada, right? Well, my dear reader, you’d be wrong, and I’d argue you’d be very wrong (World Giving Index) especially if when you include America’s military who are giving their lives all over the world to fight for freedoms many Canadians and Americans take for granted. That aside I say this because there’s an assumption that Canada’s health care should be duplicated in America? Well consider watching the CNBC video below titled How Canada’s Universal Health-Care System Works in which CNBC tries to educate its viewers on Canada’s health care system, a system that Libertarian and United States Senator Rand Paul has used.

Being fair, Canada’s health care system in comparison to America’s health care system, in my opinion, is better, but let’s not act like Canada hasn’t cheated to accomplish this. If you look at the graphs in the CNBC video, you’d notice that it appears that Canadians have a better quality of life than do Americans, right? Well, not so fast there, if Canadians have a better quality of life than Americans do why is the Canadian dollar so undervalued in comparison to the USD? It’s not like Canada is an Oceanic region like Australia or New Zealand or a small tiny island like Singapore, no Canada 37+ million people and get this, it borders with the United States.

The U.K has a higher valued currency than the United States as do many European countries with a Universal Health Care model, so again I ask the reader why is Canada’s currency lower than the United States? It may surprise some people that the Kuwaiti Dinar is worth more than the United States dollar. It will cost you about $3.30USD to purchase $1 Kuwaiti dinar. Oil-rich you say? Is Canada not oil rich? would you dare make the IQ argument? So what’s going on here? Why is the Canadian dollar so low next to the Greenback?

Could it be that without devaluing its currency and the expense of Americans, Canada would have a much tougher time paying for its public services? Could Canada devaluing its currency have a lot to do with the success of its big government? Not, really sure, because the data seems to point to America having a higher cost of living than Canada does, however, most Canadians find America cheaper than Canada? Florida is a U.S State a lot of Canadians choose to retire in. Why? Because it’s less expensive and they get more bang for their buck.

Why do I bring this up? Because if Americans want a single payer system or if the U.S want their government to take over health care, they may want to consider using a different country to mirror. Nurses and Doctors are becoming scarce in Canada, yes wit times are horrible and the unfortunate thing about the Government taking over health care is complaints don’t get very far. Canadians have to wait in silence if they need a procedure to be done and the rich people of Canada, well they simply fly over to America when they need immediate surgical procedures because make no mistake about it. The wait times in Canada are real and they’re getting worse and being that doctors aren’t forced to stay in Canada, many won’t, making matters worse in Canada are some of Canada’s larger cities experiencing a housing boom.

Doctors and medical professionals aren’t exactly incentivized with money in Canada, and as the price of housing escalates in Canada, the money doctors are making isn’t exactly allowing them to get ahead. Have you ever imagined the life of a doctor before? especially in the modern era? It’s not exactly fun, it’s rewarding, but it’s not exactly fun and with regulations compounding via the Government of Canada, let’s just say that there’s a justification for the medical professional shortages in Canada.

Now, in America, trust me I get it, your medical system is worse than Canada’s, I just don’t know if Canada has the system you’ll want to copy, because we’re kinda in some serious debt right now and being that Canadians feel entitled to the labor of medical professionals, if Canada ever has to consider austerity measures, well last on the list of reforms will more than likely be universal health care.

In Canada, yes we pride ourselves on having a better health care system than Americans, but the question being asked by a lot of Canadians recently is yes, our health care is better, but for how much longer? Once you remove options and entitlement becomes the reality, Canada better hope we never experience an economic downturn, because again we’re already experiencing longer wait times, why because less and fewer people want to work in health care, working for the government in any capacity is extremely stressful and similar to the United States, Canada under Justin Trudeau has more of an open door policy to immigrants. The new age Democrat appears to have an open door immigration policy and this policy has a way of putting a strain on public services, which is ‘another something’ America, one of the most generous countries on planet earth should consider prior to offer Universal Health Care.

Interesting times ahead.
