SpeedMaxPc Review – Is it a scam?
SpeedMaxPC is a free downloadable software providing users with features aim at boosting their PC’s performance. Immediately after download, SpeedMaxPc conducts a computer scan to look for “bugs” and other malicious files that tend to slow down your computer.
However, the free use of SpeedMaxPc is only limited to the computer scan. Before they resolve your computer issues, you are asked to purchase their software sold at $29.99.
Aside from resolving your computer’s present problems, SpeedMaxPc also offer support from future spyware and malware problems.
More about SpeedMaxPc
Packed with different features, SpeedMaxPc claimed to offer a safe and trusted solution for slowing PCs. It manages startup items, cleana up junk files, removea duplicate files, automatically updates drivers and softwares, and remove malware and spyware.
Final thoughts on SpeedMaxPc
The use of registry cleaner/optimizer has been widely practiced especially among heavy computer users. However, there is some dangers involved in the use of this kind of software. This is especially true among users who consider themselves as a total noob in PC technology.
A registry is a series of files needed to run your computer. Thus, wrong use of a registry editor can cause serious problems in your operating system and other essential software in your computer.
Using SpeedMaxPc to update your hardware may not be the wisest decision to make as most often, sites like this result to a high error rate. It would still be best to update your hardware in its manufacturer’s website.
SpeedMaxPc can be a good solution for improving your PC’s speed but its use is not suitable for new users as it may do more harm than good on the computer’s system.

I downloaded Speedmaxpc once and realized that I would need to purchase something to run it. I deleted the download but it keeps popping up randomly. How can I delete this permanently?
Karen, you can go into your control panel >>> Add & Remove Programs list, then scroll down to the SpeedMaxPc icon program and choose to remove it.
Apologizes you were not happy with the software!

I was also excited at the prospect of the free download but when they asked me to pay for the software to fix the problems found I didn’t follow through. I hate websites that advertise free software and then they ask you for money. What guarantee do you have that the software actually works. I removed the software from my computer and decided to upgrade my RAM instead. At least it’s sure purchase and my PC now works much better. With all flashing pics you face when you load a page you need plenty of RAM and a good processing chip. Hope this helps other users. 🙂 Cheers
In then heat of a thought I purchased speedmaxpc. Called the number to have them start the program (knew I was in trouble at that time) just to have them try to upsale me into paying them $250.00 less the $30.00 I paid to have them fix the 6 thousand + problems they said I had. When I refused this service the person on the phone became rude and could not get me aff the phone fast enough. When (after the fact) I checked into this software I found that it was constantly looking to update drivers, not from the sofeware manufacture but from every cut rate supplier out there. These people are crooks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will never but software one line again.
Total scam. My machine was running ok but a little slow. Who doesn’t want their PC to run faster? I went through the process with them and ended up with a new message that I can’t remove. I called them thinking it was a mistake by the tech. They refused to help without signing me up for more money. I called AMEX and reported the scam. AMEX removed the charge.
First of all I want to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Cheers!
SpeedMaxPC appears to be some sort of Malware that is detected as Uniblue driver malware when you download free Spybot Search and Destroy and right click to run as administrator and check your computer and remove spyware. I need to contact my credit card and report and stop payment and remove the program, but Spybot Search and Destroy removes the drive changes, but until you uninstall the programs, SpeedMaxPC pops up and says that your drive has changes and tries to change your drive back to their malware settings. Also, do not allow something called Babylon toolbar to be installed on your computer; it is some kind of spyware.
When I use Speedmaxpc it works fine for me. You just have to pay attention to the functions and what it is you want the software to do. If youre not happy with the adjustments its made on your computer, you can always go to its restore tab an reset it to your original settings before your scan. Its easy to uninstall too! Just go to your uninstall/programs list an uninstall it their.
I did a check for any malware or viruses on several of the leading sites such as VirusTotal.com and everything on tne speedmaxpc.com site & softwre came out clean.
I’m not really sure what everyone’s complaining about other than it sounds like they want something for nothing and when they don’n get it, they get mad and make crazy accusations. (just my opinion)
Straight from Microsoft Answers:

A: It is *not* safe. It, and all such programs, should be avoided like
the plague.
Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn’t needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don’t use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn’t really hurt you.
The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.
Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial *risk* of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
bargain.

And as any knowledgeable source on the internet will tell you, programs like this one should be avoided at all costs. They will not help and have the potential to inflict great harm. Until people stop drinking the Koolaid and realize this, they will continue to be fleeced and their computers will continue to be turned into lovely, expensive doorstops.
I have used their program and it has worked very successfully for me. Yea I paid for the program however you get what you pay for in life. This program has worked extremely well for me over the past year.
B E W A R E ! ! !
I stumbled over SpeedMaxPc while searching for an iTunes Error 1601 http://speedmaxpc.com/speed/booster/de/?t202kw=fehler%201601
IF YOU CHANGE THE LAST 4 NUMBERS OF 201601 TO eg. 1234
http://speedmaxpc.com/speed/booster/de/?t202kw=fehler%201234
YOU GET A PAGE WITH A SOLUTION FOR ERROR 1234. YOU GET AN SOLUTION FOR EVERY ERROR. THAT´s THE TRICK.
– Your alarm bell should ring now.
There is no info about what the program is doing. All the given infos are general and looks like if copied from other security infos…
I registered with the register button on I entered my Name and Email only to being redirected to buy-form.
Comments on the german-site are restricted due to “spam”, on the English site, they will never be published. I think, ALL THE COMMENTS ARE FAKE!!!
MY VERDICT: DON´T USE THIS PROGRAM!
TAKE IT FROM ME THIS IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF!!!! I WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH FIRST! THIS CRAP DOES NOT WORK, CAN’T GET ANY HELP OR RESPONSE TO MY EMAILS, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A SCAM MOST LIKELY FROM NIGERIA OR SOME PLACE THAT SCREWS YOU OVER JUST TO TAKE YOUR MONEY & GET TO YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. AND, 1-YEAR LATER THEY DO IT AGAIN BY CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD AGAIN WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION!!!
It is a scam- advertises as free, but you end up having to pay for it. You call the number to register, the so-called tech then tells you you need other software. Then it tried to clean up my system and display went to famous blue screen. Tech told me I had to take it in to have fixed. I rebooted machine, everything came up and is working. So called technician was useless. LORD knows what he pulled off my computer when he had access. DON’T recommend!!!
SpeedMax popups (only on YouTube) say my computer is slow.
If compared with something running Win7 or 8 then it’s slow.
This suggests the SpeedMax popup is shown without having a ‘look’ at the computer and it’s resources.
This is very irresponsible.
My computer is optimised for the best overall performance. Okay, I could tweak some aspects but for anything I tweak, something will suffer a loss in performance.
At present it works much faster than I can read or type which is more than adequate. The only possible slowness would be my download speed but that is controlled by the maximum speed available from my provider.
I rest my case.
