Setting a bad precedent: Emotionally charged Rochester mayor ousts police chief after Daniel Prude’s death – September 14, 2020,
Being that police officer-involved Daniel Prude’s death all decided to retire, because the mayor obviously taking the easier route, decided to side with the angry mob. The mayor of Rochester, finding any reason she could to ‘clap back’ at the officers who abruptly retired, decided to ‘fight back’ in a manner that I think was rather short-sighted.
So on the police report, there are what I’d call minor discrepancies between the reports. The officers added resisting arrest whereas the medical examiner found that Prude died due to PCP intoxication, excited delirium and “complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint.”
PCP intoxication, excited delirium, and “complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint.”
vs.PCP intoxication, excited delirium and “resisting arrest”
Now if I were the Prudes lawyer this could be grounds for a lawsuit, however one could argue ‘complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint’ was due to Prude resisting arrest. He’s naked, he’s on PCP, I don’t know what happened prior, but if he needed a bag over his head chances are he was spitting.
So, the mere fact that the mayor took Prudes side when she could have allowed the justice system to do their jobs, gives you an idea of what the morale at the Rochester Police department would be while Lovely Warren is mayor.
Although Lovely Warren might think she’s throwing particular individuals under the bus, what she’s actually done is set a very bad precedence for herself. It’s never a good idea to play judge, jury, and executioner when your job title says ‘Mayor’.
The people of Rochester aren’t going to like her any better or worse, simply because she through the police under the bus, in fact, what might happen is the exact opposite of what she hopes will happen. Mobbs often sense weakness when they see a leader react emotionally to a situation.
