Yes, Justin Trudeau’s National Housing Strategy is a complete Disaster, But can Pierre Poilievre Get Municipal VOTERS to stop voting for more housing REGULATIONS – June 14, 2023
As I see it, the Canadian economy is solvent primarily because of the “strength” or Foreign Exchange value of the Canadian dollar. The Canadian economic problem is fixable, but it will require austerity that I’m not sure the Canadian public is ready for. Typically things have to get really bad for Conservative voices to start making sense.
If you’re an individual who comprehends Austrian Economics, it’s often hard for you to get outside of your BUBBLE, you assume that common sense will prevail in the end, but that’s because you understand how PRICE CONTROLS and excessive government regulations on productivity destroy the economy.
But most humans who don’t understand business or Austrian economics, imagine the Government the way most people imagine Amazon. Most VOTERS imagine the government as an entity with UNLIMITED resources and MONEY, that NEVER loses value.
So when consumer prices go up, most Canadians don’t see their Canadian currency losing value, instead, they imagine some evil business person stealing from them. So when election time rolls around regardless if it’s a municipal, provincial, or Federal election, you’re going to get a lot of Canadian voters, VOTING for a POLITICIAN who will promise them UNEARNED benefits.
I remember a Conservative political hopeful coming to my front door and telling me at the time, that he wanted to have strong RENT CONTROLS. This was a few years back, and I live in a very Liberal section of Toronto and remember saying to myself, hmmm, well no wonder this city is going to hell.
Justin Trudeau the current prime minister of this country, takes the path of least resistance which is easy in Canada because over 65% of the Canadian voting public votes for a Left Wing Political Party.
It’s not Justin Trudeau’s personal fortune, so whenever a municipality wants some money, Justin sends it to them, which INCENTIVIZES these municipalities to make building housing more expensive.
Now, sure candidate Pierre Poilievre sounds like a tough guy, but when you’re the Prime Minister, you’re going to have to deliver and that won’t be easy if VOTERS in certain municipal regions, fight like hell to STOP building permits.
For some voters, it’s all about congestion, noise, quality of life, and KEEPING IMMIGRANTS OUT, without saying it out loud. I live amongst Liberals, many of whom are WOMEN, they like to give the APPEARANCE of being progressive, but their actions tend to lean towards individualism.
Yes, they identify with all of the Left Wing causes but not on their doorstep, and this will be the reality Pierre Poilievre is faced with if he holds back funds from municipalities, who don’t agree to his agenda.
Getting rid of Justin Trudeau is one thing, but remaining popular is something else. In practice, I’m curious to see how Pierre Poilievre deals with the housing problem, I see CMHC as the main culprit and I don’t hear Pierre Poilievre talking about CMHC very much.
Interesting times ahead!
