Why California Has So Many Problems By Wendover Productions Reviewed
So I thought Wendover Productions took an interesting position on California when they produced their video titled “Why California Has So Many Problems.”
Now obviously you can make more money from adsense for making an entertaining, longer video, but I find it interesting whenever individuals or entities run from the truth.
The truth is that California is the way it is because of VOTING PATTERNS. Californians voted to grow bureaucracy, and now that there’s a government representative everywhere, “protecting” everything of perceived value, there’s economic gridlock.
The solution is simple “Austerity Measures,” but VOTERS, many of who are now dependent on the California Welfare State for something, likely will vote to protect what they got instead of allowing market forces to fix the problems.
To be fair, market forces can take some years to fix problems, and as market forces correct inefficiencies in the marketplace, the political process will likely vote to PREVENT the market from doing what it was designed to do.
So this is why I always point to DEMOCRACY as the problem. Now, I’m not bashing democracy, but what I am saying is that what Socrates had to say about Democracy should be revisited.
I don’t know why people ignore Socrates whenever we discuss democracy because if the wrong people are allowed to vote, certain inefficiencies that will lead to death, generational poverty, and disaster are anticipated.
California being what it WAS, attracted a lot of people who quite frankly, probably shouldn’t have moved to California because they couldn’t afford it. Certain places on Earth are going to be expensive, because of demand.
Now, the marketplace if given the liberty to do so can DRIVE DOWN costs; although there always was a lot of poverty in Hong Kong, there homelessness problems never reached that of California; why?
Well, although some of the living conditions in Hong Kong are horrible, there aren’t as many RESTRICTIONS on how what defines a suitable living in Hong Kong as there are in California.
In California, if I build housing WITHOUT the assistance of the government, I have to worry about things like Rent Controls, tenants destroying my property and not having the ability to recoup my losses, I have to worry the government via the VOTING public becoming even more radicalized, which could equate to the government via the VOTERS nationalizing my property.

Wendover Productions briefly mentioned hotels being used as housing for the poor; well, that was actually a GOVERNMENT initiative in which the government “incentivized” these hotels to be homes for the homeless.
Sure, I could use the word “force” instead of “incentivized,” but the mere fact that California had to resort to this when there is a lof of ABANDONED buildings in California, gives you a glimpse as to who is causing the housing shortages in California.
I always like to remind people that Mainland China which has BILLIONS of people, has ghost CITIES! People like to imagine that there’s “not enough space,” this is a lie, almost 99% of the time the problem with a lack of housing has to do with government policies.
If let’s say you like some or all of the government regulations for housing, say that, but this bullshit about these problems being complex is a straight-up lie, and it’s propaganda. I’d rather live in a 300-square-foot space, where maybe I share maybe a toilet, shower, fridge, etc. than live in a tent.
But if the government makes the life of landlords a living hell, people aren’t going to rent out their property, because they have to account for COSTS. In California, the voters DO NOT respect private property or property rights, and this trickle-down effect equates to even the very rich and powerful not wanting “affordable housing” in their neighborhoods.
Because people will anticipate in their minds that as crime spikes, the government will take the side of the CRIMINALS. These criminals or voters who don’t respect property rights will then vote for more wealth redistribution until everything of value is devalued or destroyed.
This is basically what Socrates shows everyone, and although it sounds elitist, it’s the reality and it’s why UNBIASED EDUCATION, is extremely important. The truth hurts sometimes but when you DENY the existence of certain debates, you promote HELPLESSNESS.

So for myself, I thought what Wendover Productions did in their video was do what most mainstream media outlet do, which is change the topic of conversation to hopefully appeal to a larger audience, which in my opinion is the exact reason why more people are ignoring mainstream media outlets.
Interesting times ahead!
