One of the beautiful things about capitalism is DEFLATION and driving down prices; the GOVERNMENT is the main reason why most companies can not drive down prices, even though we’re a rule by the FIAT GLOBAL monetary system.
One of the reasons many argue for a fiat monetary system is to INCREASE the money supply, thereby allowing governments NOT to go bankrupt. If we were on a Gold Standard DEFLATION, not inflation would be the problem in society.
Under a gold standard, the government can’t print money and thereby government regulations. Under a gold standard would have SERIOUS consequences for a government that can’t balance the budget.
However, this modern-day fiat monetary system allows for incompetent politicians like Justin Trudeau to enrich the PUBLIC sector as well as those dependent on government welfare while the non-government-dependent private sector takes on all the risk.
I would like to remind readers that, especially in Canada, not all private businesses are made equal; there are a lot of private companies in Canada that would have NO customers if it weren’t for the government.
In the Canadian economy, this redistribution of capital from the government to those it deems worthy of capital earned from Canada’s PRODUCTIVE classes leads to all sorts of financial DISTORTIONS. Why Lynx Air matters enough for me to write about them is because they’re an IN-DEMAND airline.
Personally, I admit to overspending when I travel; I fly business or first class unless I miss a flight, but if, let’s say, I miss a flight I’m flying somewhere in North America, Lynx Air is it. I love discount stores; Canadians will often complain. For example, I don’t shop at the “dollar stores,” but those discount shops shape the Canadian experience.
In some countries, discount shops don’t exist, which fuels poverty because, for example, if there are no discount shops, it will be much more expensive for me to eat. So now that Lynx Air is bankrupt, many will no longer be able to afford to fly.
You might ask why they didn’t simply raise the price. Well, if you look at how Lynx Air structured their business, if you take their add-ons, all of a sudden, you could start comparing their price to Air Transat, for example.

Published Jul 10, 2023 • Last updated Jul 10, 2023OTTAWA — Another 21,000 federal workers hired since last year has brought the total added to the federal public service since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was first elected to 98,268, according to information published online by the Treasury Board of Canada.
The federal public service, now at 357,247 employees, is nearly 40 per cent larger than it was in 2015, when the Liberals took power, when it counted 257,034 employees.
You see, when a person has a vision, and they design their business to cater to a specific demographic, and the government STRIPS them of that demographic via carbon taxes and regulations, it’s not a simple process to restructure because now, you may have to purchase new planes, change the roles of the staff, offer more than just water, and in general add more weight to the plane, thereby costing more fuel.
In the dollar stores, in case you haven’t been paying attention, almost NOTHING is a dollar anymore. With tax, even the SMALLER chocolate bars have surpassed $1. If we were on a gold standard, I could argue that it was incompetence that led to their bankruptcy, but honestly, I’m not sure.
You have to remember Trudeau made it far harder to fly; Trudeau’s war on carbon is not only the carbon tax. It’s the restructuring of the entire tax code. As I like to point out, Canada’s housing market is a preview of the true purchasing power of the Canadian dollar.
Unlike air travel, the housing crisis in Canada is 100% a government-created problem; housing is a DOMESTIC problem. Blame foreigners all you want, but foreigners don’t build RENTAL housing; whose fault is it that no rental housing is being built?
The housing market is emblematic of regulations in Canada; most real estate investors only have one plan when they buy housing in Canada: buy, hold, and flip. With all the federal and local regulations, who in their right mind would want to rent out their house at a discount? Lynx Air being a discount airline, was trying to appease a segment of Canada that was being underserved, and now they’re gone(at least until they restructure) primarily because Canadian voters don’t like the temperature, and they voted for Jagmeet and Justin to do something about it.
