So I’m clear: GOVERNMENTS create housing shortages, governments create housing shortages, governments create housing shortages. Now that I’ve stated the obvious, I want to explain something to you that most idiots never think about because they’ve been BRAINWASHED by socialism.
So if there are RENTAL rules and regulations, meaning that a landlord can EVICT a tenant anytime they want to, are there housing shortages? You’d probably think to yourself, YES, of course, because then Landlords would treat people badly and raise rents and whatever else the socialists have convinced are FACTS.
First and foremost, if there are no rules and regulations, landlords are the ones that better watch their backs, not tenants. Idiot socialists have made a lot of you soft. In my era, if you’re my boss or landlord, you’d better watch yourself and watch how you talk to or treat me, because I know where you and your PROPERTY are located.
It would be in my landlord’s best interest for him/her and me to have a CIVIL discourse because they have much more to lose than I do. I’m the broke tenant; he’s they’re the ones with the property making money off my labor.
Sure, my landlord could evict me when they want to, if the government was so intervention-based, but if I paid my rent on time, there would be THOUSANDS of people willing to put me up, this was an era prior to the GOVERNMENT exploiting money printing, this is when people had to EARN a dollar the hard way, an era, in which HOME EQUITY was hard to find.
During my era, a homeowner couldn’t sit around and watch the value of their home appreciate, meaning that even if you were an A-HOLE tenant, chances are, someone would be willing to rent to you.
Then, the Liberal Government of the 1990s repurposed the CMHC, and CMHC mortgage-backed securities, as well as their MORTGAGE insurance, helped to create a FLOOR for how low HOME PRICES can go.
In case you’re unaware, CMHC exists to make sure the housing market does not CRASH because if housing prices in Canada crash, CMHC, which is a FEDERAL GOVERNMENT entity, is bankrupt.
Now, why this applies to the LOCAL housing markets in Toronto is because prior Toronto governments created the silly housing mess we’re in now by attempting to REDEFINE property rights.
Redefining property rights for landlords created a shortage of landlords; you’d be an IDIOT to rent your apartment or your house to ANYONE in Toronto who has low income in this era, and this was PRIOR to Olivia Chow, attempting to redefine PROPERTY RIGHTS again.
Anyway, you know how it is with these IDIOT socialists. Democratic socialists do not believe in TRADE OFFS; democratic socialists imagine themselves to be GODS of the land, who imagine human behavior as FIXED BEHAVIOR.
Idiot low IQ socialists, whenever they create a law, imagine that human behavior or CULTURE isn’t based on INCENTIVES. Nobody wants to be a part of WESTERN CIVILIZATION because of EXCESSIVE and unnecessary rules and regulations surrounding property rights.
Nobody likes paper work, nobody wants the GOVERNMENT involved in their lives 24/7/365, NOBODY wants to have the GOVERNMENT having more rights to the property they OWN than they do, and once you make the stupid decision to be a landlord in Toronto, that’s what you’re signing up for.
Now, for an idiot socialist who don’t believe in trade-offs, imagine that LANDLORDS and the property of landlords should belong to the RENTERS and the government. It’s ok to think this, but if these idiot socialists believe this, then why waste time with PRIVATE landlords? Why doesn’t the City of Toronto simply build more HOUSING PROJECTS?
If you’re wondering why cities don’t build housing, it’s because TENANTS, especially low-income tenants, are not only destructive to property, they have RIGHTS to be SQUATTERS in government housing.
What this means is that if a person in government housing loses their job, for example, they can’t be evicted; they do have rights, so a lot of people in government housing not only don’t pay market rents but also do not work, because they’re PUNISHED if they do.
You see, SOCIALISM, in practice, is a stupid economic concept; it puts POLITICS ahead of economics and common sense, so when governments write these laws for landlords, they’re actually looking for SUCKERS to do their heavy lifting.
The projects have been around for decades; one should ask why there aren’t more projects. Well, if you look at city DEFICITS, you’d know why. Democratic socialism, in practice, is a disaster because socialism INCENTIVES laziness.
Sure, some people will use the good graces of government to make themselves better, but most will abuse government handouts, and why shouldn’t they, especially when they have politicians like Olivia Chow pandering to them?
Anyway, the problem emerging now is that both the local and federal governments in Canada are imagining that more REGULATIONS in housing are going to attract CAPITAL. Obviously, this is a stupid, failed concept that’s been tried many times before, but whatever, humans like to learn things the hard way, so I say let them.
