Neil deGrasse Tyson and Terrence Howard had an argument, which is fine civilized people disagree on things all the time, but being that I believe in Free Market capitalism, it reminded me of the CENTRALIZATION of science, which is what Neil deGrasse Tyson represents and the Free Market Capitalism which is what Terrence Howard represents.
I’m sure a lot of Capitalists disagree with Terrence Howard and will proudly say his WACKO ideas don’t represent them, but Terrence Howard does represent FREEDOM, Liberty, and the pursuit of PROPERTY/happiness.
Whereas Neil deGrasse Tyson rightfully represents those who came before him. Terrence Howard can’t really expect Neil deGrasse Tyson to dump everything he’s learned and embrace all of Terrence Howard’s claims as 100% factual.
Neil deGrasse Tyson has a family children a career and his own life that he built. There’s no right or wrong in that scenario; both men follow their passions.
What Terrence Howard represents t me in all of this is the REMINDER, that science is NEVER settled, and although a particular science is the popular science, a free market does allow for other ideas to flourish, so if what Terrence Howard is claiming is factual, his goal should be to bring PRODUCTS to markets.
When for example “Cold Fusion” became a hot topic of conversation, the problem was that it wasn’t duplicatable, this is the point Neil deGrasse Tyson makes, life is all around us, there are things that happen that none of us can explain, but that’s not what the CENTRALIZED science structure represents, centralized science was duplicatable science, it wants certainties, because certainties not only attract CAPITAL, they attract innovation.
So there’s no right or wrong answer! But if I were Terrence Howard I’d focus on attracting CAPITAL to his ideas, instead of simply trying to show the world how “smart” he is.
Attracting capital doesn’t allow you to escape any flaws in your ideas because once money is involved, people want a return on investment, and if they can’t get a return on capital, your ideas, even if they’re factual, will get shelved.
Tesla was a puritan in that regard also, inventors like to imagine themselves above the realities of the world. In the Bible, via God, Moses parted the sea, and within a few weeks after it happened, the people of Israel were asking what have you done for me lately?
Before you imagine that you’re better than the people of Israel, take a look in the mirror and take an honest look at humanity; a lot of people have SHORT-TERM memories and will go out of their way to destroy you if you can’t help them out of their PRESENT situation.
When you see the world for what it is, you better understand why capitalism works! It’s not about what’s “FAIR” it’s about understanding human behavior.
