Two hundred Evangelical leaders recently signed a letter to President Trump regarding Israel’s sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. My position is simple: stay out of Israel’s affairs.
The real issue here is that Israel even has to ask for America’s permission in the first place. What these 200 Evangelical leaders are truly asking is for America to back Israel if things go horribly wrong. As a Christian, I strongly disagree with that. I am not a Jew, and my God has His own special covenant with Israel—that is not my place to interfere.
I believe in my God, and if He wants Israel to have Judea and Samaria, then nothing we as Christians can do will change that. There is no New Testament without the Old Testament. Now, if some Christians want to personally fight alongside Israel in the event of a war, that’s their choice.
But I am completely against using the military might of the United States to take Judea and Samaria by force. If Israel wants to pursue it, that is their decision, but they must also face the backlash—which could include a full-blown war with Turkey for example.
If anything, Israel should be talking with Turkey directly. That means we as Christians have no place in those discussions. If individual Christians feel compelled to fight for Israel, that is their decision—but they must also understand that the political climate in the United States can swing left at any time. Why don’t Christians focus on putting our own house in order first, before campaigning on behalf of others?
This is exactly what I mean when I speak about tyrannical pastors and priests who misuse the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jews do not call Jesus the Son of Man or the Son of God—they regard Him as a prophet.
Censorship among Christians and Jews
Many Jews also still believe in censorship, and unfortunately, many so-called Christians within our own faith also support censorship. That means we Christians have a lot of housecleaning to do among ourselves.
Let me make this clear: we do not support people who claim Christ while using His name to justify taking over Judea and Samaria. To our brothers in Israel—your homeland is between you and God. It is not our place to dictate what you should or should not do.
All property belongs to God. We are merely renting it. God is the final judge, and anything evil we do will come back to haunt us—our children and our children’s children.
