I know some people are saying this is the first time socialism has won in New York City. That’s incorrect. This is the first time socialism by name won in New York City. We’re not going to lie to you like some content creators. Instead, we’ll remind readers that—just like capitalism—there are several versions of socialism. The most extreme forms are anti–market pricing, and that is what Zohran Mamdani represents.
For example, Zohran Mamdani is promising to freeze rents, which means he plans to impose price controls on rental housing. Now, many conservatives dislike when people like me talk about price controls because once we start, we also begin unbranding the price controls that already exist: central-bank interest rates, minimum-wage laws, tariffs, income taxes, property taxes—taxes in general.
All of these price-control mechanisms are sold in the name of “social justice.” For example, I don’t need the government to maintain roads; society doesn’t even need the government to maintain property. Many of us would gladly pay to maintain public services if we could, and we’d do it far more efficiently—but it’s illegal. Instead, we are told how to spend our money by central political figures like Zohran Mamdani—whose victory, in this case, was driven largely by females under 30.
Democracy, Demagoguery, and Blue-Collar Reality
Here’s how democracy can slide into demagoguery: when voters approve a rent freeze, the men who do most of the construction work are implicitly expected to accept a freeze on their back-breaking labor. I’m curious: how many of the women who voted for Mamdani work blue-collar jobs?
If you’re a blue-collar worker, consider this: joining a labor union that fights for higher minimum wages can still undermine market reality. Truth be told, beta-male politics often fuels socialism. Marxism and socialism were created by men; many women are simply taking advantage of the infrastructure those men built.
A manly man starts as a wage earner to learn the skills needed to become a private contractor—to own a business and control his schedule. A unionized man ends up with two masters: his employer and his union boss. And union bosses will often unite with welfare recipients to build voting blocs.
In the modern welfare state, single mothers are major consumers of government benefits. That “pay raise” your union boss negotiates often flows right back into the system—while you’re warned that normal conversation could be labeled “harassment” or “patriarchy.”
A Christian View: Freedom, Incentives, and Social Engineering
As a Christian, I believe people can believe whatever they want. If a woman wants to be a feminist, that’s her soul, not mine. My issue is being forced to finance it. That’s what democratic socialism is—a political model that tries to change incentives.
If cradle-to-grave welfare is what the majority wants, then—no matter how hard you work—everyone is supposed to end up in the same place. If they don’t, the social engineers keep experimenting until they do. That’s democratic socialism: a belief that those in power are smarter than everyone else and thus should shape society as demigods.
In any anti-Christian system, pay close attention to censorship laws and price controls. Jesus Christ—my Lord and Savior—liberated people from tyranny. Speaking in parables and answering according to the heart of a question, He commanded us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (see Mark 12:29–31). From that love, obedience flows naturally.
Even in biblical times there were kingdoms, republics, and democracies—often with laws similar to Christ’s teachings—but they were grounded in fear and force, suppressing the individual. Christ showed that the Kingdom of God must reside within you. When that happens, your life improves and those around you are lifted, because you can share how Jesus Christ changed you.
Collectivism vs. Individuality—And What It Means for NYC
Under democratic socialism, your individuality is replaced by the collective good. Depending on your local demographics and the trends in your area, that collectivism can mean anything. In New York, record numbers turned out to vote for an openly socialist candidate. What does that mean? Popularity takes years to fade. People who buy into a concept rarely abandon it quickly. Don’t be surprised if NYC experiences an exodus as this mindset spreads across the city.
Some will say, “There’s no way New York becomes Detroit.” Are you sure? New York is a high-maintenance city. Now you have the equivalent of a nanny who will dictate what’s acceptable in “his” New York City.
How This Relates to International Dating
Throughout history, good men don’t settle for mediocrity. Biblically, men aren’t supposed to divorce lightly because they’re supposed to choose the right woman before marriage—a woman of God with whom they can build a life. Democratic socialism is anti-Christian. For example, if Mamdani gets his way, New Yorkers may be forced to subsidize government-run grocery stores, whether they’re efficient or not. Once that happens, food becomes a political commodity.
Even if those stores eventually fail, it could take years before his followers admit flaws in their model. Socialists rarely give up on socialism; they simply find a new scapegoat. If you marry a woman who is socialist at heart, don’t be surprised if your life becomes a political battleground. That’s why many Western men use international introduction services like A Foreign Affair.
The Welfare State and Moral Clarity
The welfare state is morally wrong because it invites socialists to take over the means of production. Many women—inherently—prefer marrying the government over marrying a man.
And to Christian men: the welfare state exists in part because many Western men—including church leaders—drifted from Jesus Christ. The church is shrinking not due to fewer believers but because leaders often avoid preaching the gospel, sacrificing God for popular politics.
It was shameful, in my opinion, how few pastors faced arrest or defied government orders when churches were shut down during COVID-19 across the Western world—something unthinkable in prior eras.
Wealth, Worship, and Self-Examination
Why are collectivist ideas so popular now? Because of welfare. If the state pays you, it can also own you. People misread the “camel through the eye of a needle” passage. A rich man came to Jesus feeling unfulfilled. Christ told him to liquidate his assets and follow Him. The man refused—his heart was with his wealth.
Modern welfare recipients can be rich in benefits while producing nothing. Before condemning “the rich,” examine how much you have been blessed with—and whether you’re clinging to it more than you cling to Christ.
Dating Counsel to Mature Christian Men
If you’re struggling to find love in the West, don’t ignore international services like A Foreign Affair. Just as some men sell their souls for money, some women do, too. If you’re a Christian man, avoid dating women who are openly socialist—no matter how attractive they are. Even if she attends church, get to know her first. The wrong woman can destroy your lineage.
As Christians, Christ is always first. He gave you liberty. God gave us prophets and scribes to record what happened before, so in these present times, nothing should surprise us.
Consider making Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior today.
