Trump’s Alternative and Why I Am Not Endorsing It
Donald Trump’s alternative to Obama Care remains incoherent from my perspective. At the time of writing this, I am not prepared to promote or explain whatever policy direction Trump is pursuing.
What is clear, however, is that the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obama Care, is deeply flawed. It primarily benefits individuals living in a cradle-to-grave welfare situation. If you have no job, no income, or are otherwise disconnected from the workforce, the system may serve you. For working people, it does not.
The Failure of Government Health Care Models
Canada’s so-called universal health care model has now been fully exposed. Long wait times are common, and the system is so overwhelmed that assisted suicide has become normalized. Rather than fixing capacity issues, the government has made it easier for people in pain to end their lives to avoid waiting.
With those realities now visible, Obama Care is beginning to show similar signs of structural failure.
Trump has suggested giving money back to Americans so they can purchase insurance themselves. While that may sound appealing on the surface, it still fails to address the core problem.
Why Direct Primary Care Is the Only Viable Alternative
The better solution is Direct Primary Care, commonly referred to as DPC.
DPC allows patients to choose their doctors freely. If you do not like your doctor, you find another one. Doctors and nurses set their own prices and design care models that are sustainable, transparent, and responsive to patient needs.
At this point, Direct Primary Care is the only viable alternative.
The Problem With Government-Run Health Care
Government health care in any form is fundamentally flawed. Many people do not prioritize their health. When they eventually become sick, they expect others to take responsibility for their care.
That expectation is charity. Charity should be voluntary, not enforced through government coercion. You cannot incentivize people to neglect their health and then demand that everyone else pay the bill.
Personal Responsibility and Medical Choice
In my view, the most critical doctors are surgeons. Whether someone was born ill or became ill later in life, individuals should decide for themselves whether paying for medical care is a financial priority.
Health care decisions are deeply personal. They should not be dictated by political systems designed to equalize outcomes rather than encourage responsibility.
Minimum Wage, Poverty, and Medical Access
As you know, I support eliminating the minimum wage. When wage floors are removed, poverty can be measured more accurately. Only then can we identify situations where working individuals are truly unable to afford medical care.
When doctors are free to set prices in an open market, competition emerges. That competition drives prices down and improves service quality, just as it does in every other sector.
Why DPC Will Outlast Political Cycles
Direct Primary Care will replace Obama Care and whatever Trump attempts to implement unless Democrats or Republicans pass legislation that makes DPC illegal or intentionally ineffective.
I see no realistic scenario where medical professionals agree to surrender their autonomy to insurance companies for less control, less income, and more bureaucracy. The medical lobby understands how physically demanding their work is, and they will not willingly empower systems that strip them of independence.

Health care should be based on choice, responsibility, and voluntary exchange, not government force.
