If you follow our work here, you would know that we love Donald Trump’s immigration policy, like some of his regulatory policies, but hate his financial policies, as Trump is a firm believer in price controls.
People like to compare Trump to Ronald Reagan. He reminds me more of Nixon. There are videos of Trump saying he would like to control the internet. Trump’s handlers actually had to pull him back toward the conservative side of things, as Trump had no idea that he could not rule America like a king.
Trump Is Not a Reagan Conservative
Trump’s ancestry does not date back to the founding of America. In fact, Barack Obama, through his mother’s side of the family, has more American heritage than Donald Trump. So it does not surprise me when Donald Trump does not romanticize actual American history the way a 1776 American would.
That aside, Trump at times appears to approach politics as if conservative souls are for sale. Trump does not seem to understand that he cannot be everything to everybody. If he is going to lose the midterms, he is going to lose the midterms. Price controls are not going to make left-wing Americans wake up one day and say, “We love Trump.” As a Christian, I sometimes wonder if Donald Trump has faith in God.
Conservative Values Are Not for Sale
It is not my call. I just wonder sometimes, because conservatives are not going to sell their souls for the Trump agenda. He is a man. He is ambitious. But we are believers in individualism, not collectivism. If you want the warm embrace of collectivism, move to New York with their tyrannical left-wing Muslim mayor.
As a Christian, my people have been through far worse. And as a Christian, I know what happens to any economy when the Christians leave. In general, I am more concerned with following God’s plan for my life. If the tyrants manage to wrestle power away, then I have to take personal responsibility for letting my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ down. God allows His people to be in bondage when they do not obey Him. If you read the Bible, you would know that.
Faith, Obedience, and Consequences
Atheists like to ask why a God would allow that. It is because God gave us choices, freedom, liberty, and eternal life. What kind of life would this be if our actions had no consequences?
Having a communist central bank setting prices is demonic. But two wrongs do not make a right. Why not simply say End the Fed? Ron Paul has been saying that forever. It is not hard to say, and it is not even controversial. Instead, Donald Trump wants prices to be controlled by someone he has influence over. That means he wants Republicans to be in control of pricing mechanisms. Because if Trump or the Republicans set prices, then every single person with a financial problem can now say the Republicans caused it.
Price Controls Always Create Scapegoats
Trump’s stance on the Federal Reserve is utterly ridiculous. As a Christian, I also have to take responsibility for this buffoonery because I have failed to get the word out that price controls are wrong. Quite frankly, there is no reason for the Federal Reserve anymore. That would be a stance I could respect. Instead, Donald Trump wants price controls.
Yes, any central authority setting interest rates for the entire country, and in America’s case the entire world, is price control and should end immediately. With that said, you will not even hear me say end fiat money, because that is an entirely different issue. You can have fiat money without a central bank setting interest rates.
Central Banking vs Monetary Value
Money does not have to be backed by gold as long as people value it. Fiat currency has real-world value. Yes, it can even work in a fractional reserve system, because in the end all of this is legislation-based. Any private bank dealing in illegal activities should be charged criminally, just as they would be under a gold system.
