Free Speech vs. Harassment The Christian Property Rights Debate Protesting on Private Property The Atheist Censorship Agenda January 30, 2026

Posted on January 30, 2026January 30, 2026 by RichInWriters

As a Christian, you must remember the hostile way many people of the world approach freedom of speech. When non believers of Christ discuss freedom of speech, they are often fighting to remove it.

Man made governance exists mostly for people of the world. If you are a Christian, you are seeking the Kingdom of God, and you would rather focus on the Kingdom of God than on dealing with people who continue to resist the Holy Spirit.

It is often difficult to get Christians to protest abortion. Murder is a sin, but murderers can repent. Personally, I try not to condemn anyone because I have sinned. I will not talk down to someone who sins. My position on abortion is that repentance should be directed to God, not to me. Morally, when you kill anyone or violate the commandments of Christ, you are not only killing the baby, you are damaging society and redefining what murder means.

Moral Authority Versus Government Authority

When someone says to me that a woman was raped and underage, that is not a matter between you and me. That is a matter between that individual and God. It is not primarily a government issue, it is a moral issue. Government should be the last resort. As Christians, we are trying to build the Kingdom of God, not the kingdom of men. If children are being raped, what does that say about us as a society. If a person who claims to be Christian is the perpetrator, what does that say about us.

When the conversation turns to free speech, it becomes a property rights debate and a common sense debate. As Christians, we must remember that non believers approach freedom of speech with hostility. From their perspective, Christians appear holier than thou. The censorship crowd wants control and seeks to dictate which words and actions are acceptable based on their own logic.

This is why you should read your Bible. It helps explain why Christ was crucified. Jesus did not kill anyone. Moses did kill a man. Jesus used words that some considered mean, healed the sick, and demonstrated the Holy Spirit through His actions and example.

Why Christ Was Seen as a Threat

Because most people do not read the Bible, they often interpret Christ’s teachings as rigid laws. When atheists encounter Christianity, they often believe Christians are trying to control their lives, when in reality it is the opposite.

Jesus was a Jew, and in Jewish synagogues He exercised a form of free expression while speaking to His Jewish brothers and sisters. However, the moment Jesus was seen as a threat to the established order, many of the high priests of that era wanted Him killed.

Imagine building something only for someone else to come along and build it so much better that your original work suddenly feels obsolete. Jesus knew His prophecy, but for the people of that time, it was difficult to comprehend. Today we have the benefit of reading about Christ. Back then, they were experiencing Him directly and confronting truth face to face.

Truth, Hostility, and Free Speech

When truth confronts you directly, it is difficult to accept, especially if you are set in your ways. If you believe white Christians are the scum of the earth, approaching any white Christian man without hostility becomes nearly impossible. In your mind, you have already labeled your opposition as inferior. When that opposition supports free speech, you will view free speech itself as a threat to your personal agenda.

I am not a fan of Islam, but I would never enter a mosque and demand that Muslims follow Jesus. Instead, I focus on building the Kingdom of God here on earth.

Building the Kingdom of God on earth requires a moral compass that allows God to lead us. I have no desire to visit India because Hindu culture accepts censorship as normal. I have no interest in atheist China because the Chinese Communist Party embraces censorship to the point of attempting to rewrite the Bible to prevent Christ from influencing the people.

Censorship Across Cultures

Japan is a beautiful country with hardworking people, but it is largely atheistic. While Japan mirrors aspects of Western Christian culture, freedom of speech is limited. Openly criticizing ruling classes there can result in serious consequences.

In Christianity, our culture revolves around speaking truth to power. We worship Christ, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Freedom of speech is embedded in Christian culture, to the point where many Christians practice self governance through the principle of loving thy neighbor as thyself.

Unlike the Ten Commandments given to Moses, Christ gave us two commandments, declaring that there are none greater than these. The second is love thy neighbor as thyself.

Mark 12:29-31

29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Christian Liberty Versus Political Control

This is common sense for Christians. I will not harass my neighbor to advance my personal agenda. Instead, I aim to be creative and innovative. Christ is not bossy. The idea that Christ is authoritarian comes from preachers who rely solely on the Old Testament without reminding congregations that we are Christians.

Atheists often live under more rules and regulations than Christians, though this is rarely acknowledged. Property rights are an extension of loving thy neighbor. Many historians falsely claim freedom of speech is a secular invention. It is not. In the United Kingdom today, hate speech laws are being imposed, demonstrating that freedom of speech did not originate there.

The concept of freedom of speech gained traction during the Protestant Reformation, when ordinary people gained access to the Bible instead of relying on elite classes to interpret scripture for them.

The Cost of Censorship

Humans are often lazy, and even in 2026 many do not read the Bible. Instead, they rely on others to interpret it, which explains the existence of countless Protestant denominations. When individuals read scripture and research independently, differing interpretations naturally emerge. God cannot be contained, and differing understandings reflect that reality.

A mighty God cannot be constrained by a censorship loving government. From a Christian perspective, it is absurd to believe sinful men, some of whom justify murder under certain conditions, should rule not only the world but moral truth itself.

In a free market, liars cannot be censored. Instead, they must be exposed. Christians should understand that Satan is an advocate of censorship. A Christian should never support censorship. Faith in God requires trust in truth.

Economics, Innovation, and Speech

Love thy neighbor means exercising basic decency. For example if you enjoy loud music, wear headphones, don’t force your neighbor to listen to the music you love (Love thy neighbor). Government does not need to intervene in every aspect of life. When extreme and uncivil events occur, it is often due to moral decay.

People of the world will hate Christians because they do not understand them and seek control. Censorship is anti innovation. Minimum wage laws are a man made price control designed to regulate markets through government force. These controls ignore productivity and suppress innovation.

Minimum wage laws are based on coercion. Governments demand wages regardless of market conditions, which violates property rights. Once property rights are violated, further violations become easier to justify.

Politics, Sin, and Social Consequences

This is why Christians do not follow politicians. Politicians promote political correctness, which is censorship. When minimum wage laws are treated as settled and beyond debate, society accepts sin as policy. That is how sin compounds into abomination.

Those who understand economics often find themselves forced to navigate political correctness just to engage in basic conversations. This obstructs meaningful dialogue and undermines the goal of building the Kingdom of God.

In closing, consider making Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior today. Without Him, freedom of speech becomes increasingly complicated and restricted.
