Amid The Russian-Ukraine war why hasn’t Bitcoin started to rise? – March 10, 2022,

My view on Bitcoin remains the same until proven otherwise, it’s an easily replaceable software on a blockchain software that a lot of people including myself like a lot. I love blockchain because it really does, shrink the cost of doing business, blockchain can also shrink the government’s role in our life. Blockchain as money? Sure, why not, but if we’re to be honest money can be whatever you want it to be.

Why should I be punished for attending the Bitcoin Party late? By that I mean, Bitcoin already has oligarchs and because I currently have the freedom not to use it, why should I pay a premium price to use and maintain their network? So for myself, Bitcoin is an inferior monetary system, but it can still be used as a payment system and a speculative asset.

Meaning that there’s value in Bitcoin, but its value is “meh, call me up when the price starts rising again”. In times of conflict, the argument Bitcoiners make is why carry around Gold and Silver when I can carry around bitcoin? Sure, if it only were so simple, as everyone has observed, your bitcoin transactions can be traced and tracked and when you’re in a war that includes cyber warfare, do you really want to be traced or tracked by Russia or even Ukrainians who might mistake you for or label you a terrorist?

Once I hear the words cyber warfare, I’m certainly not going to spend my bitcoin until I feel safe to do so. There’s no such thing as a risk-free investment.
and no investment is riskier than a tech investment. Zero percent interest rates and QE have been good to the tech sector, I’m still curious to know how well Bitcoin would do if interest rates were normalized?

One of the main reasons people are in Bitcoin is because they can’t get a return on their money in fiat denominated cash. In most countries, their currencies continue to lose it’s purchasing power and even then Bitcoin hasn’t exactly been the best place to store their money, because again if Bitcoins price doesn’t appreciate after you purchase it, the debasement of your local currency doesn’t guarantee you’ll have more purchasing power when you cash out of bitcoin.

When you start to comprehend what’s wrong with Bitcoin, you start to understand why it hasn’t done much during this Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Bitcoin appears to shine brightest when the U.S government engages in stimulus spending. Bitcoin’s first runup occurred when it appeared the U.S could not raise interest rates, Bitcoin went on a tear once stimulus spending became the norm and since then Bitcoin has remained at a standstill appearing almost as if it’s preparing for another round of stimulus spending.

If what I believe to be true is indeed true, Bitcoin’s value revolves around cheap U.S dollars forced into circulation, meaning that it wouldn’t be an investment I’d take seriously. Does that mean I will not try my luck at the Bitcoin casino? Maybe, maybe not. If I hear about another round of stimulus spending, I might be tempted to buy some bitcoin with the expectation to sell once the price runs up to a level I’m comfortable with.

Interesting times ahead!
