Banning Free Speech and Replacing it with Politically Acceptable Speech Has Serious Economic Consequences, the number 1 ECONOMIC problem is a lack of INNOVATION – October 7, 2021
One of the main and often overlooked reasons why America leads the world in innovation is because of its laws that protect freedom of speech. One of the reasons America’s entertainment sector has been vastly more profitable and expensive than other nations is that America protects freedom of speech. As a Canadian, it’s clear to me why most of Canada’s best and brightest find their way to America and it’s not only their large market, it’s because currently in America a Canadian artist can more freely express themselves in a manner they can not express themselves in Canada.
Not every artist wants to leave their country of origin in fact a lot of artists like the idea of their innovations being kept local. It’s only when it comes to an artist or innovator’s attention that “They’re kind aren’t welcome here” that the artist will aggressively seek to free themselves of oppression. Now, I focused on art but the truth is once politics creeps into every aspect of your life, innovations may soon become oppressive.
If let’s say you decide to become a writer, well up until recently with the creation of electronic book designing and publishing platforms like eBook Designer a book writer was at the mercy of the established publishing companies. This along with government regulatory authorities prevents the innovation of thoughts being published to the world.
For some, they’d like an authority figure to completely regulate all speech, but there are serious economic consequences to banning free speech, one of those consequences is that an entire language is not able to evolve. If certain words are not allowed to be used because those words are deemed politically incorrect, potential derivatives of those words and expressions may never be thought of.
Jazz is the perfect example of something that would have never existed had freedom of speech and freedom of expression been banned. There were people who wanted to ban Jazz, ban rock n roll, ban Punk, Ban Hip Hop, but these innovations grew the GLOBAL economy, there are now all sorts of products and services derived from Jazz music.
Limiting or putting a cap on freedom has serious unforeseen consequences that most people conveniently ignore. 1 thought from 1 unique human that is able to spread can create an entire economy. Now, let’s not pretend that there aren’t bad innovations, there are, but there are far more good legal and ethical innovations than there are bad ones and if you’re a person who subscribes to the government controlling freedom of thought, freedom of movement, freedoms in general, expect that the future will have serious economic consequences.
Because without America being the innovation capital of the world, the world doesn’t only look dull and boring the economy of the world will deter on the edge of collapse.
Interesting times ahead!
