B.C.’s record-high gas prices Leftist Policies and Carbon Taxes – May 25, 2019,
Carbon taxes are a federal tax, and B.C has all types of other taxes, in BC they pay 0.45cents per liter of excise tax and that’s before sales taxes are added. In Europe, one of the reasons that most European countries have sluggish growth is because their taxation is typically focused on the consumers or purchasers of goods and services, therefore people tend to consume less, furthermore in Europe Tariffs are also levied on consumers which also leads to fewer purchases, these regressive taxes, tend to lead to fewer innovations, because there’s becomes less incentive to innovate. In many European nations, less attention is placed on income taxes and more emphasis is paid on regressive taxes targeting consumers. It’s very depressing, but it’s the method often the economic principle duplicated by the NDP.
Public will have a say in regulator inquiry into B.C.’s record-high gas prices – Global News
So going to the gas stations in B.C equate to federal, provincial and municipal excise taxes, sales taxes, income taxes, minimum wages will rise to $13.85 on June 1st, 2019, there are also prices to pay for property inflation in B.C, it’s a combination of a bunch of different socialistic schemes jumbled together that private gas companies have to make sure they price in for the risk they’re taking, while at the same time having a government watchdog hovering over every move the gas stations make.
Now, this is where the crown corporations typically get installed, the more a government controls and over-regulates industries the louder the calls for a crown corporation. Personally, I still think ICBC is hilarious, I live in Ontario, the Liberals involvement in Auto Insurance equates to Ontarians paying the highest car insurance rates in Canada, that is until the Provincial Crown Corporation (an NDP idea btw) Insurance Corporation of British Columbia took that achievement from us.
Currently in Ontario, even with the lower Loonie, it’s still cheaper for Ontarians to buy Alcohol in the socialist republic of New York State, it’s so much cheaper o purchase Alcohol in New York, that the tariff threshold has to be kept low to disincentives Ontarians from doing it regularly. I bring this up, because this is what Crown Corporations do, their prices aren’t based on any market fundamentals, however, when the government get’s so involved in the free market, sometimes for a period of time it makes financial sense for a Crown Corporation to be created, which in some ways becomes an incentive for the privately owned gas companies to sell.
The B.C gas price fluctuations, in my opinon, are based on finding a way to keep prices as low as possible. That doesn’t make any sense you say? Well if the gas stations charge peak price all day long, without teasing or enticing the consumer, how soon will it be before consumers stop showing up at all. It’s actually a long term strategy to create demand in hours that didn’t exist prior. Gas stations usually don’t only sell gas, there are usually other items for sale, notice that the hours being pushed are hours whereby consumers are typically at home relaxing, the next time you go to a gas station in the evening pay attention to people’s purchasing patterns.
The problem with people who like a big government is they don’t understand, nor do they ask about where all those tax dollars are going too? It’s a redistribution scheme and regressive taxes favor the government using the money paid by consumers to fund their lavish lifestyles. Now, don’t think I don’t get it, Leftists or people assume that their government is doing what’s best and that this is all for the greater good, but I remind the reader that higher taxes don’t equate to ending poverty, in fact, the opposite is true, higher taxes equate to more poverty, the less money you have, the less money you have to help out others, the less money you have to give to charities, the less money you have for your kids education, the less money you have individually to buy your own electric vehicle (if that’s what you want).
If the B.C government wants people to go green, wouldn’t it be smarter to if they were allowed to save money instead of being forced to pay into these Excise tax schemes and these Carbon tax schemes? You as a consumer are being denied your right to choose and being forced to contribute to these government scams. Now, the sad truth about all of this is that even if you don’t drive you’re paying for these Excise and carbon taxes because B.C is heavily reliant on imports, whether it be by air or by ground imported items are using gasoline and if the price for the private business goes up, so do consumer prices.
Now, inflation in prices equate to more tax dollars for politicians and other the public sector workers, but if your public sectors are unionized and the materials and energy they consume come from the private sector, you understand that their reaches a tipping point. I have to be honest kudos to the people of B.C for taking Leftism to its extremes. I’m surprised you all have been so silent about being ripped off, the Green Party is starting to emerge as I guess the Political Party that will challenge the NDP and Liberals, well Ummm yeah, good luck with that B.C, just a thought, I think it wise you consider asking your Leftist leaders to lead by example, I mean you’re paying inflated prices for everything at the very least publically your leaders should be shining examples of what your cause is all about.
In short, why are BC’s Gas Prices so High?
Why are BC gas prices so high Excise taxes, Carbon taxes, minimum wage hikes, property related taxes, sales taxes and lack of competition because as the barrier to entry gets more expensive, less privately owned businesses are likely to get involved in that business, because it becomes too risky, higher prices for things typically equate to higher costs. So if minimum wages go up, operating costs for business all go up too, in a competitive market-based economy, the consumer assumes that the business is profitable, but often times the reality is a business owner is in more debt than the consumer it’s serving, privately owned companies go bankrupt all the time, because similar to individuals all it takes is for a company to have a bad month, a bad quarter or a bad year for it’s expenses and liabilities to eat up all of its profits! I hope Canada wakes up soon! Once we pass the economic cliff it’s game over!
Interesting times ahead
