Burning Trash Like Sweden Is Also an Option: Plastic-eating Enzyme Could Eliminate Billions of Tons of Landfill Waste – May 1, 2022,
I admit it, I’m annoyed, there are so many solutions that already exist that get tossed into the back burner simply because the government is too big in most countries. Is it cleaner to burn garbage or export garbage on trucks and boats? Boats do a lot of pollution and not only do they pollute the air, they also pollute the oceans, yet developed nations still export garbage? Why? Why do developed nations export garbage? Well, this all goes back to basic economics.
Since humans abandoned the gold standard and replaced it with a new monetary system that allows governments to grow larger than they otherwise could, the private sector can no longer find profitability in recycling like it once could. What people tend to ignore with big governments are the regulations they put on the economy. There is a cost to these regulations, as an example in Canada there’s a carbon tax, well this carbon tax makes running an energy-intensive business more expensive.
Furthermore, if investors are to invest in anything, it has to be profitable, well, we’ve even seen governments turn on trash collection and recycling companies. So even if you create a business that revolves around recycling, if some people deem your business not to be up to their standards, they might vote to have your trash collection business shut down, worst than that, the government might make a law that prevents any business that resembles your trash collection business from ever existing again.
Now while the government is helping to create more trash, it will likely move on to the next popular topic of the day, which may actually cause higher wages and add more regulations to an already overly regulated economy. Now, for most businesses, this is why they end up getting their own lobbyists. If you can’t beat them, join them, right? There is more than one side to a story and this is how government eventually gets so big.
Now, every once in a while government and the private sector find a good idea. In Sweden as an example their government found a way to make its country’s waste more useful, it burns it and turns it into energy. Why I bring this up is because their model isn’t difficult, it’s duplicatable, but the willingness to duplicate it, is not there, because as an example Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has been told by her superiors that should be a one size fits all solution to deal with the pollution problems of the world.
Only 1% of Sweden’s trash is sent to landfills. By burning trash, another 52% is converted into energy and the remaining 47% gets recycled. The amount of energy generated from waste alone provides heating to one million homes and electricity to 250,000. Meanwhile, the UK recycles just 44% of its waste.

a one-world government solution would reward a lot of the existing stupidity in the world by allowing dumb economic ideas to flourish. As an example arbitrary government wages artificially raise the cost, once the government has organized labor on its side, the government can then proceed to regulate productive people out of economy it doesn’t like.
Government regulations on the economy lead to division and the destruction of the private sector, now as the private sector is destroyed, nothing replaces it, these shortages mount, instead of Plastic-eating Enzymes being an addition to market solutions, it becomes like the hero of the story. First and foremost I think this is a great idea, but let’s stop pretending that we don’t already have existing solutions.
A lot of supply chains that exist in the world exist purely because of UNNECESSARY government regulations on the economy. I also like to point out that there are alternatives to plastics, not to say we have to put an immediate end to plastics, but imagine a more diverse economy instead of this monstrosity being built because of government regulations.
So what’s my solution to these problems? FIRST humans have got to get rid of PRICE controls, price controls which include wage and rental controls are the biggest problems to progress in the world. In my opinion, most of the world’s environmental problems stem from PRICE controls. When you get rid of price controls, the narrative changes, no longer can these fake environmentalists who hide behind labor movements get away with their laziness.
If there are no price controls, humans can start becoming profitable by literally picking up and disposing of garbage. Yes, it really is that simple, the rising costs of property all stem from price controls and the economy’s inability to DEFLATE. Price controls equate to the economy not being allowed to bring prices down below a certain threshold, which makes solving environmental problems more expensive!
An enzyme variant created by engineers and scientists at The University of Texas at Austin can break down environment-throttling plastics that typically take centuries to degrade in just a matter of hours to days.
This discovery, published today in Nature, could help solve one of the world’s most pressing environmental problems: What to do with the billions of tons of plastic waste piling up in landfills and polluting our natural lands and water. The enzyme has the potential to supercharge recycling on a large scale that would allow major industries to reduce their environmental impact by recovering and reusing plastics at the molecular level.
