Canada Post Union demands 3.5 percent wage hikes – September 15, 2018,

When government and corporations combine they become monopolies, it’s the dream of most big companies to merge with the Government, most of the rich people of the world got rich off of Government contracts. So it’s no surprise to me when I see the Union representing Canada Post workers get a 3.5% pay raise. Shouldn’t the employees be deserving of a pay raise? Of course, they should, but what about the workers who’ve already retired, Should Canada Post be forced to pay them too? Because the reality is, that’s what’s holding up the wage increase, in fact, this story of stagnant wages is happening all over Canada and it goes back to Canadians embracing socialism.

The Canadian Press – Union demands 3.5 per cent wage hikes

It’s important to understand that socialism typically works when it starts, it’s after usually about 20 years where cracks to start to form, pension investments don’t always yield a profit, which is why private sector employers want to stay as far away from them as possible. If pensions always yielded a profit people wouldn’t ask companies to start one for them. People mostly left-leaning people prefer to allow outside entities to take care of them.

Leftists want someone to blame, I’ve been saying this about Canada Post for years, they’re bankrupt and there’s only one way out and it’s to payout the retirees. If Canada Post is unable to this they’re going to have to raise prices on their consumers and businesses again, in case Canadians haven’t been paying attention, Canada’s needs for imports is growing every year, the monopoly Canada Post already has on imports and exports forces the prices for everything export and consume to go up, which in turn forces a lot of business to go bankrupt.

Because of Canada Posts monopoly on the courier industry, Canadian small businesses are uncompetitive in their own country, especially if there aren’t any tariffs being charged by customs. This again leads to price increases. U.S president Donald Trump wanting to renegotiate NAFTA this could cause uncertainty in Canada, all of these issues are happening all at once.

Obviously, Canada Posts employees are going to look out for their best interests, but what they don’t want to do is remind people, that Canada would be fine if they did go bankrupt or become smaller. Sure it would be uncomfortable for a little while, but the private sector given the opportunity would be far more efficient than Canada Post ever could be.

Interesting times ahead.
