Canada Post workers speak out against union – November 20, 2018,

Some of you reading my posts assume that I’m somehow anti-Canada Post? I’m not anti-Canada Post, however, I’m anti-CUPW. If let’s say Canada Post was 100% Private, chances are I wouldn’t even be writing this. If let’s say Canada Post was a 100% privately owned company that was simply a better run courier than all others and then one day the workers thought hey we deserve more let’s strike, even if it interrupted my business negatively I’d be a little annoyed but I’d simply use the other available options.

The problem is Canada Post is Public, Postal Services and courier services differ because Postal services are Publically owned and protected by the Government. For employees who don’t understand what this means it means UPS couldn’t compete with Canada Post even if they wanted too. CBC is the equivalent to Canada Post in that Global News, CTV News etc. can’t compete with them, because the CBC is a Crown Corporation and thereby gets taxpayer dollars to pay its staff and its employees, it’s crown Corporation status also allows it not to be competitive or air television shows or opinions Canadians want to see or hear.

Mon, Nov 19: The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has rejected the latest proposal from Canada Post for a cooling off period so that holiday mail could be delivered. But as Michael King reports, some mail carriers are anxious to put this all behind them.

If you work for Canada Post I get it, you don’t care, you want job security and other things, we all want it, but in my opinion, you’re going about it all wrong and if you’re a Canada Post employee reading this chances are CUPW isn’t telling you the whole story.

I challenge all Canada Post employees to ask CUPW where the money from their pensions comes from?

I’m living in Canada I live in Toronto, I volunteer and I’m friends with a lot of public sector employees, namely nurses and public school teachers both professions have pensions that are reliant on the performance of the stock market. Defined Benefit Pension Plans are Pyramid/Ponzi schemes that are reliant on new money coming in to pay for current retirees retirements.

If those projected earnings aren’t realized those defined benefit pension plans have no money. It’s common sense if you put money in the bank and you spend more than you’re saving do you not go into bankruptcy? If you invest in the stock market that’s risky your pension might lose or gain money. That’s the real world.

Pensions aside, Public Sector Unions, in my opinion, should be abolished in Canada, working for the public is a privilege, not a right. Working for the public sector means you never have to worry about competition, bartering with customers while at the same time making payroll for your employees. The power play CUPW is trying to make is forcing the government to act, forcing the taxpayers to pay for a business model that’s hurting the entire Canadian economy. Mail is already expensive, and everybody in Canada Pays for it I went to Canada Post yesterday $18 to get a tracking number on small box going to B.C. This isn’t cheap, and to have this mail delayed, by a Crown Corporation that gets its designation because of the public it’s supposed to serve is disgusting, it’s a disgrace.

Canda Post has already stretched itself to the limits and CUPW wants them to do more? Again I’d understand if Canada Post was 100% privately owned, but it’s not, so I ask the Canada Post workforce to be more considerate and demand that Canada Post be 100% privately owned so employees can fight for what they believe in without the Canadian taxpayers having to suffer.

Now, I want to make my position very clear on one thing, I don’t want Justin Trudeau intervening, I’d much rather this whole thing to play itself out. I’m pro workers rights, I’m anti-public sector unions. I think what public sector employees should do is quit, walk out or boycott, so all Canadians can have a real discussion about what’s going on. If Canada Post isn’t profitable they should have to explain to the public why, if the workers aren’t happy they should go to the media and explain why. What’s happening with CUPW is they’re a special interest group, their special interests are to gouge the Canadian taxpayer because that’s how they get paid. Have you ever read CUPW’s Frequently asked questions page?

CUPW Frequently Asked Questions

Have Canada Post workers ever asked how much money their Union makes off of them?

I mean really, who’s doing the heavy lifting here?

Whose outside in the cold and who isn’t allowed inside the nice warm boardroom negotiating deals?

As of 2006, There are 54,000 Members at CUPW (source:Canadian Union of Postal Workers – Wikipedia ,

A frequently asked Question on the CUPW website is:

How much dues do CUPW members pay?
The answer:

CUPW dues are directly linked to your hourly wage. CUPW members pay approximately three hours worth of wages per month, averaged over the month for those of us who work on commission or salary.

I honestly don’t know the answer to this question, how much money or how profitable is CUPW? Lawyers make a lot of money representing their clients. I wonder if any Canada Post employee has the heart to ask CUPW how much money they make? If anyone knows how much money CUPW makes please post it below.

I should also add that CUPW is part of the Canadian Labour Congress(CLC) which serves both the Private and the Public sector unions. Those of you that don’t know the CLC actually used to be very tightly knit with the Communist Party of Canada(Communist Party of Canada – Wikipdeia)which for those of you who don’t know is the second oldest active political party after the Liberal Party of Canada. You didn’t think communism was dead in Canada, did you? No, Communism merely took on different shapes, Kinder tones, inspirational feel-good words, like COLLECTIVE bargaining, social justice and other words that get adolescent minds to vote for promoters of “People Kind”.

One of the best things about being in a free society is telling your boss to shove it where the sun don’t shine! I love working hard and putting my boss in a situation, where it’s in his/her best interests to pay me more money, daring him to fire me, as if I were easily replaceable, that’s usually how I got my pay raises, eyeball to eyeball, face to face, I loved it, collective bargaining is backward thinking if you ask me.

Why pay a lawyer to fight a speeding ticket? When you walk into an Ontario courtroom they’re going to make you an offer? The cop inflated the price of speeding, but court costs are expensive, paying for a judge is costly, it’s in the courts best interests to get you the hell out of there. so they make you an offer unless of course, your actions were malicious.

Collective bargaining stops people from getting much-needed experience bartering, it’s a human in front of you, your equal, there’s a labor shortage in Canada, lots and lots of vacant jobs, this means the employee can demand more money. I’m so confused with the thinking of the modern day Canadian. Maybe that was just me! Anyway, I hope Canadians, namely Canada Post employees, will wake up soon and see the truth.

Will the public sector union CUPW ruin your 2018 Christmas to make a quick buck?

Interesting times ahead…
