Conservative Canadian MP for Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan Garnett Genuis Fights for the lives of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor – September 9, 2020,
First thing I’d like to say is thank you @GarnettGenuis for bringing INTERNATIONAL attention to the Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor cases. You didn’t have to do this, it’s rare that I see any Canadian politician going out of their way to mention Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor to an international audience.
As a Canadian, I’m disgusted that Justin Trudeau who has direct access to Donald Trump wouldn’t make the release of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor a priority for the Canadian government. For those of you thinking, aww who cares these are just a couple of white guys kidnapped in China for political leverage because via the orders by the Trump administration that we kidnap Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou, I think you’re being short-sighted.
This kidnapping of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor affects all Canadians and puts all of our lives in danger when we travel abroad. I personally believe if Justin Trudeau wasn’t so anti-Trump, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor would be home a long time ago.
Trudeau has squandered several opportunities to make Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor a priority when he negotiates with the Trump administration, Trudeau could have used the release of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor as a bargaining chip when Canada was doing the NAFTA deal.
Trudeau could have also used Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor as a bargaining chip in regards to steel and aluminum tariffs because Justin Trudeau rarely speaks about Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, most people are unaware of their capture. It’s not to say the interview below will have any effect on the release of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor but it brings attention to it.
As an example when a politician repeats something over and over again, it sticks to people’s memory, had Trudeau even said repeatedly that Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor were kidnapped because the Trump administration forced Canada into kidnapping Meng Wanzhou that sounds better than barely mentioning the two Micheals.
Why I bring up Donald Trump is that especially now, during the U.S election, this would put Trudeau in a good negotiating position. Trump needs votes, Trump is using Canada to kidnap women? Donald Trump has released a lot of convicted criminals via executive order in the United States, he could talk to China for us, after all, Canada doesn’t have any problems with Meng Wanzhou or Huawei.
As a matter of fact, Canada almost allowed Huawei to build 5G infrastructure, we didn’t do it, because of the United States. I understand that some Canadians might not like how I’m wording this post, but I’m a Canada first person.
Part of the reason I’m anti-socialism is that Canada has become dependent on China because instead of allowing our private sector to flourish right here in Canada, the Canadian governments have been at war with the private sector which in many ways is why Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor went to china for business and why Canada can’t economically retaliate.
Socialism makes a country economically weak, all of this supply management, this backward labour union culture Canada has embraced, and the socialist environmentalist movements all make it almost impossible for Canadian businesses to manufacture things right here in Canada. We couldn’t even ake masks for the COVID-19 outbreak. Things were so bad that right here in Ontario Doug Ford and Justin Trudeau and to assist a private company to make masks and protective gear for Canadians. This is disgusting, we have universal health care, how is it not profitable for Canadian businesses not make protective gear?
If Canadians wonder why Conservatives make economics the central issue it’s because of things like kidnap-diplomacy. I’m not anti-trade-wth-China but I’d like for Canada to have the ability to retaliate if China or any other country attempts to kidnap our citizens. I also believe Canada is capable of defending its own borders, I don’t like the deal Canada signed with the United States to kidnap people for their benefit.
We signed that stupid treaty deal with the U.S because Canadians have an obsession with welfare, the money used to protect our own borders is wasted on useless government programs, which put us in a position to be reliant on the United States for our own protection.
Enough of my ranting thanks again to @GarnettGenuis
Interesting times ahead!
