With CERB, Mortgage Deferrals and all the other Government intervention Statistics Canada says retail sales only rose 0.6 per cent in July – September 18, 2020,
The thing a lot of people forget about debt is that when people are in debt and they’re faced with a pandemic, their human instincts are to pay down debt first. The last thing on most people’s minds right now is to spend money recklessly or even spend money in the manner in which they did before.
A lot of Canadians are also enjoying the thought of being home more, Canadians I’d also assume are no being forced to be more financially responsible and especially with kids being home from school, and teachers threatening to strike in Ontario as an example, I’m certain parents are more concerned now than ever about prioritizing food and essentials.
So, I personally think Canada, namely our various levels of government might be headed into a situation of forced austerity measures. This COVID-19 fear campaign by the leftists as bad consequences for the Canadian economy, eventually, Canadians are going to be awakened to the cost of government, you see when you have less money or when you become focused on paying down debt, your eyes start to widen when you notice that the cost of government services are still rising.

Teachers all over Canada, better be careful about how they play this COVID-19 because eventually, parents are going to get fed up with it. It’s not like every Canadian has a mortgage, I don’t have a mortgage I have to write my local government a cheque to pay for my property taxes and a large chunk of that money goes to paying for schools.
Now, if schools are going to be closed, what am I paying for?
If let’s say the Ontario Public Services also raise their prices, and I don’t get any benefit from this price increase, do I not have a legitimate grievance with my government? If Justin Trudeau on the Federal end is raising the cost of living to not only pay for the Federal workforce but also to meet the Paris Climate accord, do I not have a grievance, because I’d like to remind Canadians that not everyone can live off of $400 a week.
If I can’t open my business and my customers are now being forced to pay inflated shipping charges because COVID-19 has their favorite restaurants shut down, do I not have a grievance with the government? I don’t think the Trudeau Liberals as well as the Leftists in this country see nor understand the future dilemma staring them right in the face
I personally see the debasement of the Canadian dollar in the future, but what I don’t think the government understands is the ugly road to us getting there. The TSX surging, while Canadians survive on CERB is not a good thing!
Interesting times ahead!
