#CERB is not Welfare, the purpose of CERB was to mirror productivity, UBI will have to be a replacement or an addition to current Welfare Programs – December 21, 2020,
As I suspected, most people are coming to the conclusion that The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) which gives financial support to employed and self-employed Canadians who are directly affected by COVID-19 should be turned into a Universal Basic Income.
The problem is that CERB was supposed to be delivered to PRODUCTIVE Canadians who prior to the Chinese Communist Party-style lockdowns of the private sector were helping to produce INCOME, sales, and other taxes to the various levels of Canadian governments.
A few years back I wrote about a topic I think flew over most people’s heads in which I wrote that Income taxes should be paid at the end of the year instead of automatically withdrawn from employees’ paychecks. It’s y belief that if Canadians had to stand in a line and pay the government at the end of the year, they’d pay closer attention to Government spending.
If let’s say at the end of 2021, a regular employee had to save money to pay the government taxes, I think Canadians would take taxes more seriously. Because a lot of people who shouldn’t have taken advantage of CERB, did, the government is sending them a bill for overt fraud, which is the right thing to do.
However CERB is political, it was a politically motivated scheme to buy Justin Trudeau votes and what it’s also going to do is it’s going to make so a lot of Canadians probably won’t see an income tax cheque for the foreseeable future. Unless of course CERB loans are forgiven.
Now, usually, when the government lends the private sector money, the government is repaid, what’s ignored however are the private companies who are contracted out from the government to do mundane government tasks like statistics in areas nobody cares about, to do things that have no economic value. Well, CERB is an explosion of no economic value and it came while shrinking the size of the Private Sector.
Furthermore, Justin Trudeau is adding more regulations onto the economy before it opens up again, so the government of Canada made sure it turned CERB into CRB. Justin Trudeau also got really close with the Communists at the World Economic Forum who are telling us we will own nothing and be happy and it appears at least on the surface that Justin Trudeau and the Liberals are just winging-everything-economy.
Now if you know anything about Liberals, Leftists, and how their brains work, they like the idea of having someone or something to blame for their dire situation. So, if you’re wondering why Justin Trudeau’s popularity has remained solid it’s because people are being paid to stay home and if something bad happens, it’s not their fault, it’s someone else’s fault. Being ignorant is something Leftists take pride in and this is why the economic collapse in Canada is inevitable.
Now, fortunately, in the modern era, economic collapses take on different shapes, I like to often point out that the U.S dollar is better spent outside of the United States, the same goes for the Canadian dollar. The exporting of dollars happens primarily because of Government intervention, as it costs more to buy less, the people who can escape will escape and this, of course, leads to deflation and fewer options for consumers.
Now a Universal Basic Income(UB) is an AFTER TAX benefit, it’s sustainable if the productive of society give the government a surplus, well in case Canadians aren’t paying attention if the Canadian government can’t borrow money it will go bankrupt because tax collection is barely enough to service the debts now and we’re at nearly 0% interest rates. In fact, under Trudeau, we’re getting to a point in which we’re going to have trouble servicing our debts.
It looks to me that 0% interest rates are the new normal in fact it wouldn’t surprise me if we went negative, so what this means for UBI is that if it were to come to fruition, we’d do it during a period of historically low productivity. The thing to remember about UBI is that EVERYBODY qualifies and if everybody doesn’t qualify just like welfare, the people who don’t qualify will find a way to qualify.
If the way to qualify for UBI is to be less productive, Canadians will become less productive. I used to work for 2 unionized companies and everyone who worked at these companies didn’t work overtime, why? Because rumor had it, working overtime meant you’d pay more taxes, so a lot of able-bodied employees intentionally became less productive.
That’s how welfare and taxes work, we all want to reap the benefits and we want someone else to pay the expenses, we don’t care who pays the expenses we just don’t want it to be us! I call the era Canada is moving into Late-Stage-Socialism Socialism despite what people think predates Communism.
Late Stage Capitalism can only occur if Capitalism reigns supreme, the Canadian market is regulated everywhere most or social concerns, whether we want to admit it or not, we’ve been living under socialism for decades now, the problem is that we’re in it’s later stages, the governments all over the world have been doing everything in their power to prevent deflation, which is a mechanism capitalism uses to make life better and more efficient for everyone and because people resist change, the technology that’s upbringing about deflation is being weaponized to grow the size of government.
This is, of course, is leading us towards a technocracy, but in technocracy, it’s the technologically astute who rule and even their machines and programs need maintenance and can be exploited. So if you have half a brain, you can see the writing on the wall that change is in the air, how that change occurs is beyond my level of understanding, what I do know is now is probably the worst time in history to be reliant on the government for welfare, because once productivity disappears the markets flood safe havens and there’s nothing the government to do but shrink to solve the areas of the economy the free market wants nothing to do with!
Interesting times ahead!
