China should punish ‘U.S. colony’ Canada over anti-dumping measures
Ummm. Yea! What I will say to Canadians and this is just me being honest here, based on entitlement spending, a shrinking manufacturing sector and Liberal promises to maintain deficit spending for the foreseeable future I’m really not sure if Canada wants economic turmoil with China. Canada already puts tariffs on U.S goods, so if China starts to engage in trade wars with Canada, Canada is going to have some big time decisions to make.
It’s important for Canadians to understand this is not the early days of socialism where Canada could get away with manipulating it’s currency and making promises the future generations would pay for. No, now Canada is in an entirely different era. China is the second largest economy in the world and Canada is NOT the first. The United States can win in a trade war situation Canada on the other hand is in no position to engage in a trade war.
Do Canadians realise that most of the products we enjoy now are made in China? Do Canadians also know that if given the opportunity American companies could dominate Canadian companies at will. Do Canadians understand that if interest rates in Canada are lower than the United States now? Do Canadians understand that Canadians are unprecedented amounts of debt and on the opposite end the Chinese are known as some of the best savers on the planet. This is not to say that the Chinese government isn’t in debt, what I’m saying is the Chinese as individuals are savers of money and well I’m not sure Canadians are prepared for the pain that could be coming.
How can China punish Canada?
If Canada has to resort to the United States for exports, Canada customs is going to be confront with a whole lot of problems. Canada already imposes custom charges, Canada has been engaging in a trade war for years and ummm all I’m saying here is I hope Trudeau knows what he’s doing here, because I’m looking at the numbers and well… we’ll see.
