At least now we know without a shadow of a doubt that Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor are being detained in China not for crimes they committed in China, but for purely political reasons. Via the longstanding U.S.-Canada treaty which by the way I DO NOT AGREE WITH, America was within its rights to tell Canada to detain Chief Financial Officer of Huawei Meng Wanzhou.
Soon after as we all know The Chinese Communist Party arrested Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor on trumped-up fraudulent charges. Because a snap-election might be called within the next few months the Liberals are trying to appear like the good guys.
What’s so unfortunate about the Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor is how different this all could have been had Justin Trudeau taken this situation more seriously. With a simple statement, the Chinese Communist Party is already back peddling. The CCP is already open to negotiations, which is what many of us in Canada knew all along.
Had Trudeau pressed the issue Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor would have been released a long time ago. All Trudeau really had to do with was call Trump, he should have brought this issue up with Trump before COVID-19 and before the election, but Trudeau dragged his feet.
The moment Trudeau’s cabinet begin making Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor a priority already the CCP is open to negotiations. This tells me all I need to know. Because the real truth of the situation is Trudeau has an advatage over Trump when it comes to Meng Wanzhou negotiations.
The problem is Trudeau is either to dumb to use his Trump card or he doesn’t understand negotiations. If ever there was a beeter time for Trudeau to play the victim card, this Meng Wanzhou, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor situaton would be it. It’s really sad to observe the leadership in this country.
