In a previous posts, we claimed that Justin Trudeau’s candidate would win the Toronto — St. Paul’s byelection EASILY, turns out we were wrong, news coming in that it’s official Liberal Leslie Church loses to Conservative Don Stewart, meaning that Justin Trudeau, who in actuality is the ONLY notable face of the Liberal Party, has lost all value for the Liberal Party.
Conservative Don Stewart took a late lead to win the Toronto — St. Paul’s byelection.
With all polls reporting early Tuesday morning, Stewart won by 590 votes over Liberal Leslie Church in an upset win for Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives.
Although this doesn’t seem like a big deal to some, it is a huge deal in Canadian politics because Justin Trudeau lost the popular vote in the last two elections, and what kept him in power was downtown Toronto, which is Canada’s largest city. Toronto has more people than some Canadian provinces. Just to give you an idea of how big this is, it would be like the Democrats losing Manhattan, New York.
This loss has little to do with Left vs. Right and everything to do with competence vs. incompetence; in my opinion, Jagmeet Singh destroyed the harmony of Canadian politics by propping up Canada’s longest-standing-unpopular Prime Minister, who, let’s be honest has proven to be a disaster to the country.
Had Jagmeet Singh allowed an overtly corrupt Trudeau to fail, I don’t think this would have happened. This also hasn’t helped the NDP, the liberals still edge the NDP if an election were called today, and the UNPOPULAR Trudeau were on the ticket vs. Jagmeet. We have to see how this turns out, but this is massive news.
