When asked the rationale for supporting an increase in old age pensions the following statement was released by Conservative Party MP Anna Roberts
“After a lifetime of work and playing by the rules, the power of seniors’ cheques has been wiped out by (Prime Minister Justin) Trudeau. A dollar after nine years of Trudeau doesn’t go as far as it used to,” she said. “It is heartbreaking that our seniors are now the fastest growing group of food bank users and increasingly forced to live in tents and shelters.
“We need a carbon tax election to bring a common sense Conservative government that will unleash the power of our economy to bring home more powerful paycheques and lower prices for all Canadians by axing Trudeau’s taxes and inflationary spending.”

So, if you ask me, Pierre Poilievre, on the surface, appears to be positioning himself to be the modern Brian Mulroney. I don’t hear an austerity agenda coming out of the mouth of Pierre Poilievre; now, who knows, maybe he will govern differently.
However, unlike Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who did himself a favor by saying very little when he ran about what he’d actually do, Pierre Poilievre continues to employ unnecessary promises for silly reasons.
Most Conservative Canadians at this point are resigned to having Justin Trudeau ‘lead” until 2025, imagining this embarrassing phase in Canadian history as something that we’ll one day look back on and say, “See, this is the disaster of our massive WELFARE STATE.”
However, Pierre Poilievre appears to be imagining PRICE declines as a fantasy, not worthy of pursuit because of the number of PRICE CONTROLS that already exist in the Canadian economy.
This means that Pierre Poilievre will likely employ the “2%” inflation model and return the size of the Government to Stephen Harper levels. All is well and good until he starts to comprehend all the trade pacts Canada is already involved in, all the commitments Justin Trudeau punished Canadians with, which are all rooted in ESG, and a lot of Canada’s largest entities are already involved in.
This is what most people have a hard time comprehending about Javier Milei the President of Argentina, who employed austerity his first day in office and dealt with the all the criticism that comes along with it.
Once you formed government and decide to avoid austerity, you’re opposition will have all sorts of tools to hurl at your direction, and then all of sudden,
Pierre Poilievre will be left saying “I’m having to do this because of the prior administration.”
Now, because Ontario Premier Doug Ford, said very little about what he would do and because he didn’t seek to form alliances, his opposition can only hurl personal insults at him, hoping one of them sticks.
Pierre Poilievre is now promising more government welfare to Seniors, some of whom are making over $4000 per month BEFORE “free” health care services. This retirees by the way are at the age in which they’re UNPRODUCTIVE, and let’s stop pretending that all of these retired people actually worked their entire lives.
What I’m getting at is this welfare will be picked up by the working PRIVATE SECTOR workforce, and Pierre Poilievre better make sure he alleviates the private sector of ESG regulations, censorship, higher taxes and genuine oppression, brought to them via the Trudeau cabinet.
Also, one has to wonder about these “protestors” many of whom are the beneficiaries of government aid, what does the Pierre Poilievre immigration plan look like? How does Pierre Poilievre plan on getting OLD STOCK Canadians, as well as naturalized citizens, back to work?
Because, for example, Justin Trudeau, he’s not only produced a larger LAZY-WORK-FROM-HOME government workforce, he’s also ballooned welfare spending. If Pierre Poilievre doesn’t take of the welfare band aid early on, these people will, ofcourse, start to claim that they’re deserving of more welfare spending.
Once Pierre Poilievre gets into the habit of picking government welfare winners and losers, he’s helping the LEFT WINGERS gain support for their Left Wing causes.
And suppose you’re unaware of why things are so bad in Canada now. In that case, it’s because different WELFARE LOVING groups will support ANY Left Wing candidate, just so their welfare pipe dream can come true, meaning that if Justin Trudeau lets in millions of migrants but allows government workers to work from home, these welfare-loving people will support Justin Trudeau.
The same is true for retirees. Some Retirees will accept all sorts of damaging things to Canada just so they can get a government pay increase.
So, although Pierre Poilievre may see this is Pierre Poilievre merely “playing the game of politics,” they’d better comprehend that a dance with the devil will lead to the destruction of our nation.
