The Council of Canadian Innovators say Justin Trudeau and the federal government have lost their way – October 27, 2020,
I personally like to remind Canadians that we as a country have been squandering resources for old socialistic ideals, that are reliant on paying Canadians to be unproductive. Technology whether people want to admit it or not has been ‘the great deflation’. The only reason the cost of living continues to rise all over the world is because of inefficiencies in government, government growth, government bloat, over regulations, saving old industries with taxpayer bails out, and prioritizing real estate markets with inflated mortgages.
The innovators of the modern economy that we all take for granted is the technology sector, which to date politically has leaned more to the Left, primarily because many on the right have also embraced protectionism of dying unionized industries. So if the future world revolves around protectionism, it’s only right that The Council of Canadian Innovators make their voices heard.
In their open letter in 2019, The Council of Canadian Innovators stated the following:
Last year(2018), our companies employed more than 35,000 Canadians
in high-quality jobs. We exported to over 190 countries and
generated over $6B for the Canadian economy. We want to continue to contribute and grow our businesses.

Socialism is too slow, prevents innovation from occurring and prioritizes lobbyists over innovators
The reason free markets work while socialism and communism fail is that a government is usually bombarded with economic vampires looking for a bailout/blood of some kind, while the market segments of the economy focus on growing their business.
As the article, I point to in this post points out, Canada’s prior Conservative government prioritized Oil and Gas, while the tech sector was being ignored, so The Council of Canadian Innovators thought they had a friend in Justin Trudeau, unfortunately, with all the taxpayer-funded bailouts that came at the expense of The Council of Canadian Innovators(CCI) they’re seeing no plan in Canada’s CENTRALLY PLANNED economy.
When I read the article I point to below, it shows me everything wrong with Canada.
“When your government took office in 2015, we received encouraging signals that you understood the importance of Canada’s overdue transition to a knowledge economy,”

I personally don’ Steven think they need a bailout, what The Council of Canadian Innovators(CCI) is really questioning is why they should even be here. Technology isn’t like building a media company or an energy company, tech companies are mobile, they can leave an area and take a lot of their employees with them.
5G as an example is something Canada better pay close attention to because 5G could actually turn rural areas into tech-power houses, this is one of the reasons I think Canada is on the wrong side of history as it’s presently constructed.
Protectionism which is a form of central planning requires a highly intelligent future seeing leadership, that takes a comprehensive flexible approach to governance. I personally think Justin Trudeau is simply too stupid to comprehend the long term goals of Canada’s tech sector. With that said I don’t think he’s the only short-sighted politician in Canada, I think the majority of Canadian politicians are operating as if Canada was in the 1990s.
In what a lot of people call socialist Scandinavian Europe, the government has been shrinking in size, their progressive policies are financed with a VAT tax, but notice that you don’t hear much about housing bubbles in Scandinavian countries, why? Because inflated commercial real estate prices hinders small businesses, which also hinders growth in the tech sector.
In Canada, our top-heavy central planned approach, we’ve set our tech-sectors up for failure, because they’re having to seek customers primarily in other countries. Canada’s private sector continues to shrink, which means our tech sector is having fewer domestic customers to sell too.
With this top-heavy approach, our tech-sector requires a reason to remain in Canada, because again, the tech-sector is mobile, they don’t need to be here, they require special attention because as they point out they’re profitable NOW! It’s not so much that they need bailouts, they need to know what the central planners have planned for them. So far Justin Trudeau hasn’t delivered, I suspect, Trudeau will assume throwing money at them will be enough, but as I’ve pointed out the tech-sector is mobile and as an example, America is our neighbor, speaks the same language, and loves its tech-sector!
“But in the years since 2015, innovation is barely mentioned,” they continued. “We see less of a bold, cohesive plan for innovation in Canada and more of a patchwork — pilot programs and furtive policies rolled out in hope they will amount to something greater than the sum of the parts.”
