Decorating a house ideas

Here are few ideas that you should avoid

1 Buying area rugs that are way too small

An area rugs size should allow for at least 12- to 16-inches of border flooring around a room’s perimeter; anything smaller, and the rug will look too awkward. The front legs of your furniture are supposed to sit on the area rug, so the rug doesn’t appear to “float” in the middle of the room.

2 Always measure a room before purchasing furniture

It’s a common mistake in a persons excitement not to measure, many homeowners buy household items before taking possession of their new home. However, when the furniture arrives, it often doesn’t fit through the door or is too long or too big for the room. Rather than making buying decisions based solely on a floor plan, measure or get used to your home space for a while before buying anything trust me you’ll save yourself alot of time.

3 Picking the wrong wall colours.

The larger the space you’re painting, the more tonal wall colour you need to have. If your home features an open plan, when deciding on the main colour, select a color that is a wee bit darker than you’d normally choose for a small room.

4 Bed headboard Why you need one

The head of the bed is the focal point of any bedroom, Many people tend to overlook this, i’m not sure why but it happens alot i’m sure you’ve seen it and maybe didnt notice but said to yourself “something is missing here” If you don’t have a headboard for your bed, add one or find one that interests you

5 Decorating your home without any help

find a friend or a family member to help you, sure we are all a bit stubburn but you want opinions sometimes especially if your not sure sometimes the person might not even know what they are talking about but none the less you can get that presence of home it will feel when someone is looking at your creation

6 Decorating around a design you dont like

Start smart stay smart if you don’t like it today Chances are you wont like it tomorrow. Don’t continue to invest in decor and accessories to match the ONE item; If it doesnt match with everything you’ve done thus far JUST GET RID OF IT, Dont have it refinished or anything chuck it or sell it or give it away dont be a pack rat, one mans trash is another mans treasure throw it away and you’ll find just what your looking for trust me.

7 Buying too many small accessories how it can hurt your design

I think you already know how this story goes you dont want to get your design looking all crowdy and cheap looking, There comes a time when you just stop and or start over understand so when your ready to change just change but dont get everything crowdy it will ruin your dream.

8 Hanging artwork too high on the walls

The bottom of the artwork should be eight to 10 inches above the top of a piece of furniture, be it a headboard, sofa or credenza. In a hallway or stairwell, hang art so that the middle of the work is 66 inches from the floor or steps standard.
