Doug Ford assured developers he plans to open up Greenbelt to housing development

Hey, Dougie it would be nice if you addressed the current disasters in Ontario real estate before giving developers the green light to create more disasters. In Ontario it’s reached a point in the real estate market that even the CBC had to acknowledge the disasters that have already been created. Now you want to create more disasters in the Green belt? This is something I thought Doug Ford would have known instinctively, apparently I was wrong and again here goes the real estate board of Ontario buying out politicians.
I’m not voting for the Liberals, I’m not voting for the NDP or the Greens there’s no way I’d vote for any of those parties anymore, for as long as I live, but I hoppe people following my posts are understanding why the Conservatives struggle to stay in power. Conservatives in Canada are basically Liberal maintenance men what I mean by that is they don’t really change anything, all the conservatives in Canada seem to do is conserve current Liberal policies, which in turn leaves the door wide open for when the Liberals take back the house.
Hey Doug, Doug Ford, there are structural issues in the Ontario real estate market that stem from CMHC and rental controls. You can’t have a federally backed agency protecting the mortgage and housing sector and municipal government installing rental controls, it’s going to lead to an imbalance and the private sector is going to continuously exploit it, and guess whose going to have clean p the mess? If you guessed future premier Doug Ford you’re absolutely right. Based on my analysis it’s my belief that Liberals are going to throw the provincial election, Wynne might not even try to win, I’m sure her team are aware of the disasters she’s already caused and how those bills she ran up are coming due.
Doug, Dougie you do know if you win the provincial election you’re inheriting a bubble, not just a real estate bubble, but a jobs bubble, a union bubble, an energy bubble, an infrastructure bubble a financial bubble. I don’t think Canadians understand how bad it’s going to get. When Harper left office you have to understand that Harper didn’t change much of the Canadian economy, he basically maintained most of the Liberal policies, he shrunk the deficit a little bit, but not much and Canada was having problems then.
Trudeau’s Liberal plan was to run a deficit, Wynne’s plan was to run a deficit, now in the 90’s this stuff wasn’t so bad, because manufacturing jobs had a reason to be here, Canadians weren’t in that much debt, truth be told 20 years ago Canadians had a harder time qualifying for the types of loans they’re given today and for the most part there was wiggle room. That’s all gone now, there’s no wiggle room, the wiggle room is called deflation and if the Canadian economy deflates in anyway it’s game over, it’s especially game over for real estate. There isn’t a lack of supply Doug Ford there’s an unwillingness to build based on demand, because the Ontario real estate market revolves around speculators.
They’re building condos not because of residential demand, they’re building condos because they know the speculators will buy. Speculators will buy fast, the mere fact that you Doug Ford are catering to this crowd, instead of just saying nothing, tells me that you don’t know what you’ll inherit if you win. If I were you Doug Ford I’d keep my message brief, I’d be a true conservative and consider the Ontario my daughters will grow up in. Being a conservative revolves around looking at things from an individual perspective not a populus perspective.
Do I have a problem with developers in Ontario? No, my problem revolves around government interference in our real estate market. Sure the Bank of Canada to a degree is to blame but the truth is the structural issues of our real estate market revolve around the CMHC. If there was no taxpayer backed, crown corporation named the CMHC assuring investors and banks that there’s only so far this real estate crash can go than what would happen is investors wouldn’t be so eager to invest in condos.
They’d have to consider their own financial risks, based on current policies there’s little to no risk for developers because the speculators are taking on all the risks, by loading up on debt. By loading up on debt the expectation is that there’s going to be some sort of bailout when the crisis hits, that’s the play of the speculators in the Canadian real estate market and that’s why these projects get funded so quickly. So Doug if you want to get in bed with these people go right ahead but don’t be surprised when conservatives turn their backs on you, when the crisis hits.
What should have Doug Ford done in my opinion? Nothing, Doug Ford you should say nothing and promise nothing. Tell them “we’re going to look into that”, “we may consider this” or “You make some good points” mister developer, make your speech and leave. That’s my opinion ad that’s all I have to say on that.
Interesting times ahead
