Doug Ford plans to change Ontario license plate slogan to ‘Open For Business’ – March 03, 2019
Now, personally as many of you who read my blog posts will know is that I spend a lot of my time defending small and medium-sized businesses in Canada, with that said, this province, this country as a whole is rather collectivist, preferring in most instances to give up their own personal liberties and Freedoms to serve a collective, this of course is why even Doug Ford’s Conservatives support things like Supply Management, because even so-called Conservatives think socialism is ok as long as… it serves their own personal greater good. Being that Doug Ford comes from the Private sector as do I, I completely understand why the slogan “Open For Business” resonates for him, unfortunately to people outside the business world niche, it sounds like they’re prostituting themselves.
Imagine an attractive Ontario woman driving into New York State with a Licence Plate that reads “Open For Business” It makes for an interesting conversation starter for American male interested in pursuing her. Then again so does “yours to discover”, I kind of liked “keep it beautiful” which was subjective. I don’t hate everything the Liberal party does, I just think in regards to the economy the NDP and the Liberals are idiots. But as far as slogans go, we business people prefer to outsource those tasks to the Classical Liberal types who at the very least will challenge you to look beyond the abstract.
Open for business, as much as I’d like more Ontarians to be in business, decades of Liberal leadership have definitely constricted the minds of Ontarians on what types of businesses they can get into. The cost of living increases hurt entrepreneurs the most because the barrier to entry via Government enforced regulations has artificially risen. If you listen to most Union people, they’re of the mindset if you don’t meet their specific guidelines you shouldn’t be in business at all, and well what’s happened in Canada is a lot of people who otherwise would be in business, aren’t and this, of course, is slowly eating away at the Canadian economy, everybody with common sense including Doug Ford knows that in the very near future Canada is heading for an economic cliff and what he’s trying to do is push an optimistic approach, unfortunately and I’ve been saying this for years, the world is changing, and a changing world tends to leave the collectivists behind.
Of course the collectivist groups are going to fight like hell to keep their old world collectivists world from turning into a relic, but it’s too late now, Doug Ford sees it Classical Liberals see it, Conservatives see it, Libertarians see it, individuals see and the world is beginning to feel that there’s something systematically wrong with the current world we live in. The problem with our current world is simple, especially with the explosion in technology, collectivism, which includes, Fascism, Socialism, Communism, Totalitarianism via technology especially now, they’ve become obsolete.
Why this hasn’t been exposed yet is because of these collectivists groups clinging to power, the unfortunately reality for them is that the crash of the Keynesian economic model creeps up on you, one day the markets realize that this trading system doesn’t make any sense anymore, one day humans start to realize that job security is myth, one day a disaster hits and the world realizes that there isn’t enough tradespeople to fill the voids. During this period, the world markets will demand change, people have been pulling their money out of fiat currencies and dumping their currencies into cash producing assets, this happening so much now that governments want to raise taxes on wealth, which is fine, except that what will happen is that people will stop withdrawing money from their assets, these are things people in business understand that people who aren’t business will never understand. IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY!
Money is only a symbol of freedom, in the end, it’s all about trade and your ability to trade. A credit card isn’t legal tender, it’s a credit card! But it can be used to barter, there are instances where it makes sense to be debt. When the crash happened in 2007-2008 a lot of millionaires and billionaires stopped paying the mortgages on their mansions and the banks in America refused to foreclose on them, or even report those billionaire tenants to the credit bureau why? Do you ask? Because money doesn’t matter. What matters in a society that revolves around private property are Assets that produce cash flow. If 1 tree grows and produces oranges and another tree grows that produces leaves, which tree will most likely produce cash flow? I bring this up because Ontario and Canada have a lot of businesses that don’t produce cash flow, Doug Ford obviously knows this and he’s doing whatever he can to raise awareness that things in Ontario are changing for the better. With that said, I don’t work for politicians and I hate the slogan, I understand it, but I hate it! “Keep Ontario beautiful” is fine with me. Now a few road signs that say Ontario, open for business, I like that, but not on my License plate.
