Japanese automobile maker Toyota has refused to budge on it’s dedication to hybrid vehicles, and it is now confirmed that Chinese company Weichai, has successfully created the world’s most efficient version of the self-ignition motor.
Now, before you get too excited, the problem with HYBRID vehicles, is the maintenance, the beauty of the combustion engine (an engine which generates mechanical power by combustion of a fuel) is the maintenance, most humans if they wanted to could self-maintain their cars engine.
If it weren’t for government regulations, we’d likely have more people designing their own combustion engine cars from SCRATCH, however once you move towards, these hybrid vehicles, you’re faced with a whole new set of MAINTENANCE related questions.
Modern EVs have maintenance problems, and these maintenance problems are driving down their reselling price, which inevitably will force down the the asking prices of NEW Electric vehicles.
EV sales are falling and what I’m hearing more from people who want to purchase an EV is to LEASE it, which if EV manufacturers can’t solve the range problems will be the new normal for EV.
With that said if the future of EVs revolves around leasing, then Hybrid EVs, will likely dominate the EV market and this is where these Electric-Diesel powered cars are likely going to take a giant chunk of the EV market.
Diesel fuel powers the Tesla charging stations, so I’d say it’s game set match as long as Diesel-EV-Hybrid vehicles don’t have any major maintenance related problems.
Interesting times ahead
