No Economic Penalty: Oklahoma politician threatens action against Thunder for kneeling – August 2, 2020,
When a politician has to be the person who stands up for the people, that basically tells you that there’s something wrong with society. An Oklahoma politician threatened action against the Oklahoma City Thunder for kneeling during an NBA basketball game.
Rep. Sean Roberts (R-Hominy) issued a statement on Friday night threatening to reexamine the Thunder’s tax benefits in the state of Oklahoma if players continue to kneel during the national anthem. He called the protests “anti-patriotic.” Roberts also criticized the Black Lives Matter movement for having “ties to Marxism.” Roberts wrote in the statement, via Hicam Raache of KFOR:
Well, the proof is in the pudding of that statement, this is why governments should never pick and choose economic winners and losers for the economy. A lot of sports teams and sports stadiums are financed by taxpayers, a lot of these sports athletes eventually become a huge source of revenue for cities and this is why when they stand up for a Marxist belief the city and the States has everything to lose and little to gain

I understand what Republican Sean Roberts is saying, however, it’s a little late for that now, I mean yes sure the people of OKC can boycott the team, but a lot of business in Oklahoma is derived from that NBA franchise. This is why you don’t allow the welfare state to grow in the first place, because once the welfare state is allowed blossom, unexpected, unimagined or unforeseen events occur.
In a free-market atmosphere, things are always happening, but as deflationary events occur, the efficiencies of a free market will learn from them. I personally think the problem with the NBA is the players guaranteed contracts, NBA players, after all, are unionized and their inflated salaries are passed onto the consumer.
Now, if you’re small-town Oklahoma, before welcoming in a sports franchise, it would be wise to look at how that sports league is structured to see if it’s a good fit for your city. Can the city afford and benefit long-term from these athletes? I don’t know of a period when the NBA wasn’t a Left-Leaning organization? I was actually shocked to hear that OKC wanted an NBA team.
At first Oklahoma City appeared to be influencing the NBA, but as per usual in time it now appears that the NBA is influencing OKC. I think even in Orlando, one of the Black Players refused to kneel, which took a lot of courage. But it appears everyone including the white people on the OKC roster and coaching staff kneeled for the anthem.
I’m not even American and I find that extremely disrespectful, but I do believe that those entitled NBA coaches and athletes have a right to protest! That’s America, however, without any welfare state there would be economic consequences to their protest and that’s the point I’m trying to make.
The problem with the welfare state is that freedom overs are financing Marxism! I don’t ramble on and on about minimum wages and labor unions for no reason. Once the government starts fixing prices, wages, and making purchases that the government believes will be in the people’s economic interests, the globalists/Marxists with the taxpayer-funded infrastructure obviously eventually move in and control the narrative.
Black Lives Matter that Marxist political entity is good for Globalism, all politicians all over the world should work together to stop freedom and liberty for select ethnic and political groups in the name of social justice! This is why you don’t allow the welfare state to grow, the taxpayers of Oklahoma are now financing a Marxist agenda and will even be forced to finance its potential failure!
