Canada is not a top destination for the Uber wealthy, especially now that Justin Trudeau is the Prime Minister of Canada. The Trudeau regime, sold Canadians on this idea that if they change the tax code and raise taxes, that they can confiscate more money from the richest people in Canada.
Well, the reality is that the rich have OPTIONS. One of the options the rich throughout history have ALWAYS exercised is their ability to FLEE; even if the Trudeau government manages to take or nationalize everything from a rich person or rich business, you can only steal from them ONE TIME.
Trudeau’s idea of a booming economy is to hire more public sector workers, which equates to higher operational costs to run his government. Ted Baker considered a high end retailer, exiting the Canadian market, also has at least temporarily abandoned it’s online store.
I know most people imagine that online sales are killing retailers. That’s only partially true. The other truth is that disposable income is shrinking, something most politicians forget when they raise taxes and cause inflation.
Even if you imagine that you’re getting more back from the carbon tax than you’re spending on it, you still have to WAIT to get your carbon tax rebate from the federal government. That waiting period, as the cost of living gets high, could force you into debt and to defer paying certain bills until Trudeau’s carbon tax rebate arrives in your bank account. Elections have consequences.
Interesting times ahead!
