Employers should NOT have to foot the bill for mandatory sick notes, Cut back Welfare and Public Spending – June 30, 2019,
Canada has dropped to 13th place on the World’s Most Competitive Economies Rankings and it’s mainly because of silly proposals like this, that are open for debate or that have already been passed. Making matters worse is the worst finance minister in Canadian history Bill Morneau has been hell-bent on making the tax code Paul Martin Authored even worse than it is now. You can’t close loopholes when Canada already has a bunch of cultural justification written into law to protect certain State-owned Corporations from going bankrupt.
Making matters worse a lot of people who work for the government in some capacity are exiting the workforce, and private sector manufacturing jobs are exiting the Canadian marketplace at a rapid pace. Why? Because the Canadian economy is way to Progressive, job creators are having little say in the laws that are passed in this country. Now, what’s the real problem with sick notes? Let’s be honest, what’s the problem? The problem is that Canada has Universal Health Care, which has created a problem that’s there’s a shortage of doctors, compounding the problem is the idea by most people that Health Care in Canada is FREE, Canada has also excepting millions of newcomers who consume more welfare than they produce in sales or income taxes and these welfare parasites are causing all types of financial problems that Leftist want to pass onto the private sector.
Why aren’t the people who do not produce for this country not being questioned? A large chunk of welfare consumers in Canada are able-bodied adults, how much more does the Private Sector have to give? There’s a minimum wage that all employers have to abide by, employers have to be careful that they don’t get sued their employees, employers can’t fire unproductive workers for no reason without compensation to the employee, there are gender issues for employers that employers have to be careful with, Private Sector employers are constantly blamed for every financial problem in Canada and like or not without the Private Sector there is no Welfare for anyone.
If you go to Venezuela now, Public services are the services with the most problems, why? Because the Venezuelan government instead of austerity measure choose to blame the Private Sector for everything, so guess what large portions of their private sector did? Their private sector either left the country or only serve the richest people in Venezuela, so now the poor people in Venezuela can barely by a hotdog on the street. Competition exists if each private sector employer has a fair shot at being productive for the economy.
If employers have to foot the bill, what about the small business owners? I keep writing over and over again, most private businesses are in debt, a lot of small and medium-sized businesses who employ people are living paycheck to paycheck and their paychecks are dependent on consumer purchases and if the government keeps raising the costs to consumers, consumers will spend less and demand lower prices that will make a lot more small businesses bankrupt. Now, in a free enterprise system with limited government, small and medium-sized businesses can afford to lower prices but in a system where it’s illegal for employers to pay less than a minimum wage, higher energy costs(via carbon taxes), higher rental, lease, and property taxes(via CMHC) higher taxes via Justin Trudeau’s Liberals and be careful to stay in line with the social justice warrior movement (Feminism, BLM etc.) and now proposals are being made for them to further fund the public health sector, by paying for their supposedly sick workers, I mean is there ever a breaking point, yes I’m sure I missed other expenses that business owners have to pay but I hope you can see my point here.
Nobody is forcing these employees to show up to work, the problem is if an employer fires the employee in a manner that the government considers lawful, well that’s more expenses for the employer, part of the reason why women don’t get hired as much as men are because of the potential of lawsuits. Women call in sick more than men do, and with an increase in regulations, this is only going to make matters worse. Most women gravitate to working in the Public Sector because life in the Private sector isn’t easy. It should be noted that Michelle Cohen wrote the article below, she’s a woman who works for a State-owned broadcaster, it’s highly unlikely that she’s ever run a private business in her life. More than likely Michelle Cohen has never had to make payroll and she’s more than likely approaching this sick notes issue from a position of entitlement. How dare those private employers not pay for their employee’s questionable sickness, Michelle Cohen appears to allude to in the article below? Now, again the CBC called The Post Millenial biased, but if you read Michelle Cohen’s article you can clearly read the bias in her words.
In Michelle Cohen’s article below she makes little mention of the non-contributors to Canada’s Universal health care system? Her entire article is based on the Private Sector employer being forced to pay the public sector, which is understandable because the CBC is a Crown Corporation that many argue is biased towards Leftist political parties. There are millions of ABLE BODIED people in Canada who aren’t contributing anything to our health care system. No, mention of them, in her article, no mention of maybe scaling back, or finding creative ways to lift the burden for small and medium-sized businesses, no in Michelle Cohen’s mind it appears that Employers are the evil people. When private sector employers leave, income taxes don’t get paid, when income taxes shrink, consumer spending shrinks, when consumer spending shrinks the public sector becomes the destruction of society! Because public sector workers retire earlier, have better pensions and don’t have to worry about bankruptcy. Stop demonizing the Private Sector, they’re paying most of the bills and they pay our countries bills in a competitive environment, something the CBC knows nothing about!
