Well Finland is pretty socialist and when a country that has already embraced socialism decides to scrap Universal Basic Income clearly they noticed patterns amongst their people. Another thing to know about Finland is that for the most part it’s homogeneous, similar to Japan, with a high IQ population, yet their Universal Basic Income plan didn’t work. That is something that people should really think about.
I can’t stress enough that the only reason unemployment is so high in the first place is because of minimum wages. In poorer countries the only reason for joblessness is corruption in the government, or tribal warfare. Sorry people when it comes to economics it’s really that simple. As long as a person agrees on the price for his or her labor and the employer pays, plus the employer abides by the regulations which should exclude minimum wages btw I think employers should be able to pay whatever amount the want.
What happens in a “minimum wages less society” is you get more entrepreneurs, more competition and better quality of life, especially if you don’t have central bankers manipulating interest rates. The reason why socialistic governments instinctively don’t want more entrepreneurs is because, self employed people pay taxes to the government whereas employees tend to have taxes taken out of their paychecks.
Some people think that it’s more complicated than that, I completely disagree. If employees after working long hours at the end of the year had to write the government a check, what you get are a lot of people hating the government, you’d get a lot of people demanding tax reform, government people would get exposed for the incompetents they are.
Universal Basic Income makes sense to me only if every single person qualifies, if you’re selecting a righteous few, who get Universal Basic Income based on the some manufactured number created by the government, they’ll be a race to the bottom to get to that number. That’s how these things work. In business, a lot of small business people know that the less money they make, the less taxes they’ll pay, so that’s how a lot of small business people approach it. Now people who have their taxes extracted from their paycheck say small business people should pay more, but if they were put in the same situation, they’d probably do the exact same thing. Studies have been done on this and Governments all over the world know, so the socialist types do their best to grow the government as much as possible so younger citizens never learn the truth.
The mere fact that Universal Basic Income failed in Finland should be an indicator that humans without incentive are humans that won’t contribute to society unless absolutely necessary.
