Funny statement by Jean Simard, president of the Aluminium Association of Canada in response to Trump slapping tariffs on Canadian raw aluminum – August 6, 2020,
So, if you were to read my posts, you might think that I’m a Libertarian, but I’m not, I’m a man of God first and foremost and I’m a believer in as free a market as possible, there’s only one tax I personally believe in and that’s the Tariff tax. As a man of God, when it comes to economics, rule number 1 for me “idleness is the devil’s workshop”. Now this is not an actual bible phrase the actual verse stems from 2 Thessalonians chapter 3
in the King James Version of the bible where from verse 10 the following is stated.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Now I bring this up, because if you’re a conservative and you find it hard to communicate with a Liberal, it’s in the bible as to what to expect when Liberals infect your presence. So, I’m all for tariffs if my country is engaged in market pricing, but we’re not!
The Canadian dollar is apparently rising but it’s still way lower than it should be. Canadian labor is way UNDER-PRICED! When you take money out of the equation by almost every metric Canadians have a higher standard of living collectively than do Americans, and you want to know what else reader, in case you haven’t been paying attention during COVID-19 most of Canada’s useless public sector have been sitting at home and getting paid.
Do you know what it means if a large chunk of Canada’s public sector is sitting home and getting and barely any Canadian notices? It means the Loonie is undervalued, all levels of our government in Canada are overpaid and Canada’s private sector is in shambles!
The Loonie in case you didn’t know is debased to pay for our big government. That’s only reason the loonie is INTENTIONALLY debased. The loonie is not debased because the private sector wants it debased, it’s debased because of Government wages, government price controls, perks, and benefits public sector workers enjoy that Canada’s private sector could never pay their employees.
I bring this up because Canadian tariffs are unfair for Canada’s private sector, Canada has a brain drain because of our big government and private industry like Aluminum, for the most part, are here in Canada, for or artificially cheap labour. The people who work in the Steel and Aluminum sectors in Canada I’d argue are better than what America has to offer, what’s the problem? The problem is the numbers in Canada don’t work for Canadian manufacturing without debasement of our currency and for the first time in American history, they have a businessman as President.
The worst thing about Trump as it relates to Canada is that Trump spent his entire life in the private sector working with steel and aluminum, so he completely understands what Canada is doing! Guess what materials you need to build Trump hotels? If you said Steel and Aluminum you’d be correct, now, I personally think Canada would have been spared had Justin Trudeau not been such an economic idiot, but Canadians voted for him, I sure as hell didn’t vote for Trudeau but my fellow countrymen did, and now it’s election time and Trump has to play to win.
If Industry in Ohio is complaining about Canada, Trumps’ America first policy is clear, AMERICA FIRST! Ohio is a battleground state, for the life of me I don’t know why any American with common sense would vote for Joe Biden, but the bible talks about Babylon burning, so if Biden won, as a Christian it wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
With that said, Jean Simard, president of the Aluminium Association of Canada you’re a funny guy. I respect Jean Simard for standing up for his industry, but he knows just like I know, Trump has them by the nads, Canada already tariffs the hell out of American made products, why do you think prices are so high in Canada now.
When the Canadian dollar reached parity with the U.S dollar a few years back, Stephen Harper had to add additional tariffs on cars made in America to prevent Canadians from buying them. Jean Simard makes the argument that we should tariff America some more, sure why not! more artificial inflation to make the Canadian consumer even poorer.
I want a strong Canadian dollar, we’re a better country than America, it’s a shame that Canadians love socialism because I wish we could be great!
