You know what’s interesting, I never considered being a correctional Officer as a career path I’d ever be willing to pursue, to do this type of job takes a special individual. I think the average salary of Correctional Service officer in Canada is below $70,000 per year, which is unacceptable in my opinion. The average salary of a Canada Post employee ranges from $42,000 per year to $58,924 per year. Whose job is harder? I would argue that the Correctional Service officer has the tougher public sector job. I would also argue that the correctional service officer is deserving of more pay.

Now, so we’re clear there are hundreds of thousands of stories similar Prosper Niyonzima that came to Canada for a better life. I worked in sheet metal, I’ve worked with people who’ve lived through communist regimes and other dictatorial regimes where they cam to Canada for a better life and these people with similar backgrounds as Prosper Niyonzima did not commit any crimes. You can come to Toronto and meet a lot of very productive immigrants who’ve done nothing but work hard and contribute to the Canadian economy and Canadian way of life.

I’m sure throughout these immigrants lives in Canada they were wrongly treated by the Canadian government in some capacity, but the mere thought of biting the hand that fed them never occurred to them. Being in prison isn’t fun for anyone, but I’ll tell you one thing, I’d rather be in a Canadian jail than an American jail, or a Mexican jail, a jail in the U.K or a Russian jail or worse still a jail in Rwanda.

Part of why I spend so much time writing about Canadian issues is that I don’t want us to ruin what we have. We are a very blessed people to be living in Canada and we shouldn’t take it for granted. My position is that we should be global leaders and setting a global standard of fairness, but unfortunately, we can not do this now because particular ethnic groups within our country want special perks. These groups aren’t always visual minority groups. If people remember when Kathlynne Wynne did her Universal Basic Income pilot she did it in a predominantly white town in Ontario.

I say this because in different segments of the Canadian economy particular groups are granted special privileges because of their ethnicity and this, of course, is being exploited. People forget the reason Justin Trudeau was pressured to give Omar Khadr the $10.5-million payout was because Canada has signed multilateral deals with other nations, which placed Omar Khadr in a special category. Of course, I’m against the payout I signed the petition condemning it, however, I write these posts and I write about abandoning these multilateral globalist trade and social deals because it invites people like Prosper Niyonzima to seek special protections.

Obviously, I hope he never sees a dime, I also think Prosper Niyonzima should be deported back to his country, his daughter has since been adopted and he quite frankly he is an unfit parent. There are lots of people in Canada that if they wish to do so have visited their parents in their parents’ countries of origin. This will be a decision Prosper Niyonzima’s daughter will have to make when she comes of age. But this doesn’t excuse Prosper Niyonzima’s behavior, he was given many chances to be productive in the Canadian economy and society, he made the choice to hang out in the wrong crowd, commit crimes and get caught several times. As I pointed out in this article it’s very expensive to house a prisoner and finding competent correctional officers isn’t easy either.

Being that I volunteer I meet a lot of poor people that work for shelters, a lot of the people that work at food banks and who volunteer their time are not rich or even middle class, but they devote a portion of their time to helping those in need, why aren’t those people suing for $50 million dollars? Many of those people have backgrounds of adversity also. I find crazy that people and many parents focus their attentions on the people who opt to take the criminal path in life.

We often forget about the people who give a lot and get nothing in return. I hope moving forward Canadians can abandon the welfare state and embrace the volunteer state. I’d like to take the time to say that I appreciate all the volunteers in Canada, what you do for our country, for the world is greatly appreciated.

A lot of Canadians, in my opinion, have their focuses on the wrong issues, why most people choose a life of crime is because if they have to work like the rest of us then they’ll have to be financially responsible like the rest of us and therefore they’ll have to delay gratification like the rest of us also. People break laws because humans are free to do what they want, however when you’re on Canadian soil you must respect the sovereignty of the host nation, something Prosper Niyonzima decided wasn’t in his best interests.

For that Canadian taxpayers had to spend untold amounts of money to house, clothe, monitor and provide food for Mr. Prosper Niyonzima and his response to this kindness is he wants $50 million dollars? Not he wants psychiatric help no, he wants $50 million dollars because Canadians were nice enough to take him out of Rwanda a place he doesn’t seem to want to return too? There are a lot of flaws to globalism that I hope Canadian voters will consider looking into, in the near future.
