In a world of SCARCE resources, The Democrats want to follow Europe and table legislation forcing all smartphones and tablets to be equipped with USB-C ports – June 18, 2022,
Some people like Apple, others like Windows, and I like both for different purposes. When it comes to coding, I want my Macbook when it comes to MS Word and Excel(even though MAC offers it in 2022) I prefer my Surface Pro. I like the options and if a manufacturer seeks to LIMIT my options, even if it’s PURELY for financial gainst, that’s on them.
In the last decade, Blackberry was a dominant force as was Myspace and eventually, they became yesterday’s news because both were too restrictive and lacked the imagination that Facebook and Apple iPhone now have. The market will always correct itself and it’s best the government stay out because truth is told, there might come a time when USB-C is utterly useless and manufacturers will then have to beg the European Union to abandon the law.

In America, what might happen is that if this is made law, similar to the relationship the Taxi companies have with the government, innovative technologies will then be forced to fight the USB-C lobbyists who will be that time force innovators to subsidize their existence for employment. Uber basically bankrupted taxi cabs, but the government saved the day?
A lot of inefficiencies and unnecessarily consumer costs are the result of short-sighted government regulations. I personally have a lot of dongles that I purchased out of necessity, but that’s how the market corrects itself. I use my computer far more than the average person and therefore these costs I incur are justified. I don’t need the government bailing me out.

If there were regulations, all I’d want is more TRANSPARENCY PRIOR to purchasing things, and quite frankly Youtube product reviewers often do a far better job educating me about a product than a government regulation ever could. What government regulations do is make things less efficient. They make innovative technologies harder to release to market and they create shortages, because what tends to happen with market saturation or market scarcity are ALTERNATIVES, a company might make an USB-C alternative to separate themselves from the crowd, well, now that’s illegal in Europe? Why?
How about a reviewer simply making a video saying “STAY AWAY” because of this or that reason instead of this unnecessary government waste.
The letter comes a week after European Union lawmakers reached a deal on new legislation forcing all smartphones and tablets to be equipped with USB-C ports by fall 2024.
