Now That Justin Trudeau has destroyed Alberta’s economy Geoffrey Morgan and Tyler Dawson of National Post Write About a Sales Tax in Alberta – February 25, 2021,
If you ever wonder why media organizations all of the world, require a government bailout, it’s because their material won’t sell with headlines like the ones I point to below ‘Time for a sales tax? As Alberta deficit grows, so do calls to diversify oil-dependent economy by Geoffrey Morgan and Tyler Dawson of National Post
‘.
Oil is very similar to the tobacco industry, in that it was the government that decimated it, Western Canadian economies are doing fine and would be doing fine with or without manipulated Loonie, which in reality pays for all of this mal-investment.
Progressive types of short memories and want to forget the damage their prior policies and corruption caused. They simply want to progress to a totalitarian way of life in which their governments are never to blame for anything. Even though I’m not the biggest Jason Kenney fan, I can see why so many Albertans like the guy, he fights hard for Alberta in the face of tyranny.
Now, if I were Jason Kenney even as a supporter of the Peoples Party of Canada which doesn’t support secession I use secession as my bargaining chip. Even if I lost, I would make sure I got the session train moving, it’s worked for Quebec and it will work for Alberta if presented in the right way.
In order for secession to work, you’d have to explain to voters what they’d be up against and the realities of their situation. Now although Alberta is an oil-rich nation, it’s also Canada’s most economically free region. Switzerland as an example is Landlocked and it’s one of the richest nations in the world So when you’re landlocked, you’d have to explain to Albertans that there will be challenges unforeseen challenges and test the waters to see how Albertans really feel about secession because if Albertans can accept the ACTUAL challenges of secession all of sudden the political landscape in Canada would change.
But because Jason Kenney refuses to go there, it appears the Alberts economy is going to die and the progressives already have an idea on how to revive it…’ a sales tax’. Now better than sales taxes are jobs, because people forget that the Private sector will build everything if the government left her alone, monopolies do exist in the private sector, but they exist into perpetuity primarily because of government interference.
In a market economy, if a company price gauges consumers and the government doesn’t create artificial barriers to entry, that monopoly will eventually end, however, sometimes a monopoly really isn’t a monopoly it’s just that a private sector company knew how to build a better mousetrap and because the mousetrap may have been so well built the greed of both the government and possibly the labour might reach a point in which they feel they deserve more at the expense of the customer.
In Ayn Rand’s novel, Atlas Shrugged she details how great nations are destroyed and the root cause revolves around the greed of the unproductive. Alberta doesn’t need to grow the size of government it needs to get the government off of its back!
Interesting times ahead!
